??? The camera on the P4P has an one inch sensor and isn't that much bigger (both the camera and the drone)... May be the Air is too small for that camera, but the regular Mavic Pro... should be able to carry the camera thats on the P4P. Look, if Autel Robotics is about to release one... I don't see why DJI can't do one???? If you don't know what I am talking about check this thread out:

UHD @ 100mbps, 32MP Panoramic pictures. $799USD So.... its smaller... in my honest opinion, I was hoping that they were announcing the Mavic 2 with 1 inch sensor and more. Don't get me wrong, there are welcomed additions like mentioned above (100mbps, 32 MP pictures, etc), but not enough? Anyway, I think the price is still a bit steep... but its fresh.... so by Christmas time this year... may be $499? Who is interested in this thing?

Why wait for something that might not happen? Anyway, DJI is announcing something tomorrow....just a reminder :D

Bah.... if history is any indication of a company's behavior. I will bet a small fortune that Nikon is just going to pull a 2015 - filmaker's kit only with the 850D. All in for $4K https://www.popphoto.com/gear/2015/02/nikon-releases-d750-dslr-filmmaker-s-kit-4000 Which isn't bad, in my opinion... especially, if you are planning to abandon Canon... because it comes with a set of prime lenses, thus the whole system is being replaced..

But, if it was not supported... then even those minor bugs won’t be fixed. I know what you want... you want peaking, histograms, etc. in one of the updates which... given their history... not going to happen. But, if enough people complain about something like hot pixels they may add the remapping feature that’s been in the 1dx but neglected in the 1dc
-
I thought it was no longer supported, but hey.... isn't this a sign of hope for current owners: http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=34263.0

Quick question: I mean this could be an old wives tale, but I remember back in 2011, a friend of mine was berating me for putting the camera bag (with camera and lenses in it) in the trunk of the car... where there is a lot of shake. He said that if you shake the camera too much or too hard it will displace the sensor... so he told me to keep it in the front passenger or back seat (preferrably, on your lap and/or at your feet, and stabilized). Now, it doesn't really help me debunk it when you see Peter McKinnon doing the shake and/or rapid pan on a 6D (rather than his main cams 1dx mark ii & 80D). So, the question is... will it displace the sensor if you shake it hard, hard drop, etc.? Or is this just a stupid rumor?

Just to add... Sony needs to step up their game for another reason too - that is, to sway the people that bought a gh5 or gh5s or both to buy an a7siii. Now....There are people that have one system or both, but if Sony wants to continue its current reign at whatever position they are in and want to climb that ladder to number 1 (if they aren’t already in whatever sub-segment of the market this belongs in)... they need to sway people who are in Sony, who have left Sony, or who are invested in their competition... and to do that... it can’t just match their competition i.e. Gh5/gh5s, 1dx mark 2, etc. If you already had gh5/gh5s and Sony brought in a FF version of it in the a7siii... would that really sway you to buy it???? Even if you had both Sony and Panasonic systems (lenses, flashes, etc.) would you still get it??? Not really right? Even if you weren’t invested in either system... say you were in Canon/Nikon’s camp...and you were planning to buy either gh5/gh5s or a7siii... the price would likely motivate most to go Panasonic... especially if they had the same features. So the question is... given that the gh5/gh5s is the minimum... cause that’s the baseline right now... what features will they ‘add’ to sway us?

I’ve transcended wishful thinking to wishful dreaming :D

Sony was the first to do affordable 1080p @ 120fps... then also 1080p up to 900fps in their RX cams (not true 1080p, but close enough). If they can match gh5 with 6K anaphmorphic, 4K @ 10 bit 4:2:2 and up the ante with DCI 4K at 120fps with the same Color and auto-focus as the a7Riii in their a7Siii - I will say “Game Over. It’s Done. No going back.”

Shhhhh dude.... the guy wanted me to pm him if I was serious. And I want to get paid!
-
Bwahahahaha..... I can do that for you... just don't ask too many questions of how it works... blah blah blah.... just pay me and use it.
-
For this reason... BM and other companies, I'm going to wait till at least after NAB 2018 to satisfy by ever growing G.A.S.
-
Given that its a slightly bigger sensor (1.86X) Whats the crop like with a speedbooster?

Personally speaking, I'm not really interested in an alternate way of offloading video, I'm sure... you are looking for something like Eye-Fi (which, btw... does video too) https://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/eye-fi-does-video-with-new-4gb-explore-video-and-share-video-car/ Now, I would be interested in a Pocket mark 2 - similar to the original that used the Nikon batteries and had an LCD on the back, may be add a larger sensor, more resolution (5K+), more DR (or at least industry standard 11-12), more frame rates (4K @ 120fps would be nice :D) and may be use Canon LP-E6 batteries.

I don't know if you're joking or for real with that comment, the scale is tipping more towards the sarcastic side... but I'm afraid to laugh... in case, I hurt your or other people's feelings towards a possible FF MILC from Canon. Care to share a direct link so that I (and others) can read it too? Only asking so that I don't needlessly rummage around on google finding false info.

I'm not very hopeful about the Canon 7D mark 3 and 90D having 4K either... And, my pessimism towards Canon have been there since the 7D mark 2. And, your arguments for the C line and c100 mark 2/3 are very sound. But... This time, although I might regret saying this... I'm going to bet the farm...that the 7D mark 3 and/or 90D will have 4K. Let's see why: -The 7D has always been dubbed the mini-1DX - atleast since the introduction of the 7D mark 2. If that remains true, and it's missing 4K...??? -XXD side follows suit from the 7D line. You will see that there isn't much difference between the 70D and the 7D mark 2. -I know that they didn't have 4K in the 6D mark 2, but if sensor resolution has something to do with the 4k crop factor... Then the 6D mark 2 would've had better 4K crop than the 5D mark 4 and there would be no point in putting C-log in the 5D mark 4, because most people would still choose the 6D mark 2 for 4k(cheaper, better crop and flip out screen). Which brings me to the rumoured crop on the Canon APS-C... I've been hearing that there is going to be a 1.4 crop on the already 1.6 crop sensor, which means 2.24 crop. (That's worse than the GH5 no?) -If they don't add 4K into their 7D or XXD line now.... They will have to in their next iteration.... Which is 4 years away.... The GH5 is already doing 6K anamorphic.... Weren't most people talking about 8K cameras for 2020 Olympics? https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2016/8/26/12656286/8k-tv-broadcasts-2020-olympics-sony-panasonic Can Canon really wait till 2022 for 4K in their APS-Cs? When 8K is aimed for 2020? As for your dilemma about the c100 mark 2 competing with the 7D mark 3 or 90D. Because of resolution... I feel a price drop coming for both C100 mark 2 and C200. Then you will obviously have to choose between crappy 1080p from the APS-Cs and really bad 4k crop.... Over amazing 1080p sampled from a 4K sensor, xlr inputs, built in nd-filter, etc.

Happy New Year all!!! I know, I know... every year can technically be the year of the hybrid DSLRs or VDSLRs.... Given how these companies are spitting them out. But, hear me out... There is obviously the eminent GH5S announcement in early January, speculated to be a low-light, more video centered camera. The inevitable follow up to the a7sii, given that the a7riii was announced a couple of months ago. We all know that the A7S lineup is the more video oriented one... Apperently, the Canon 7D Mark 3 and 90D is also expected with 4K... but I also expect heavy crops on them. The Canon 7D has been a staple in affordable VDSLRs, before the t2i came out... And, the XXD line from the 70D onward is Vlogging heaven sent for some. Other rumours coming out about Canon include ILC version of XC10/15, 6K C900 and possibly a c100 mark 3. Red's hydrogen one - I just want to see the hologram technology - speaking of which has anyone seen "7D holograms" in action? Like in person? I didn't even know about this till last evening... Google/Youtube search that and you will know what I mean... Anyway, back to the hydrogen one... I also want to see it in different camera configurations and sensor sizes... Blackmagic... Boy oh boy... Can't wait to see what's up their sleeves. It's going to be one hell of an ace of spades.... This the year son... This the year!

Funny thing is... the ones he is showing us aren't exactly cheap either... unless you take $250 - $340 as being cheap. But, given that if you had to choose between expensive and even more expensive.... go for the name brand stuff :D
-
Never tried them before, but out of experience, I usually go for the known brands like Sachtler, Manfrotto, etc. I remember a few years back I invested in a couple of generic 75mm tripods (full kits) for about $169.99 (per unit). Within months bubble level fluid emptied out (I know.... come on, really?), it started to get harder to assemble/disassemble because the joints started getting stiffer... well... you get the point.... since then.... its all the brand name stuff that I get... cause their names are on the line.
-
Easy there. You do know that even though you bought into a system that you don't have to defend that system to death... Unless, you've been appointed as their new CEO or something.... But, in any case, I will concede that I wouldn't put my camera under those conditions either. Also... Just to point out, in the video that I shared, the guy wasn't using a weather sealed L lens either.... Here is the kicker, he didn't even use a lens on the 7D when fully submerging it in water and freezing it... Just a body cap. Funny thing about that video... I was hoping that at least the LCD of the 7D to stop working after being hit by a truck, thrown down the stairs, submerged under water, frozen, and then baked and set on fire. Ridiculous.

Here, is this durable and reliable enough?
-
I know I should be hawking the 1DC right now. But, if I were you... Because you are coming from the NX1... I’m sure you haven’t invested in many Canon lenses.... Go with the Gh5... and later the Eva1... You know that Panasonic won’t disappoint in the long run.... and because your a bonafide film student... you of all people should appreciate the 6K opengate anamorphic mode....
-
Thats supposed to be detailed??? Going by just that... I don't think anyone is losing anything by this new announcement... I think the GH5 (Non-S) is still a better all rounder. If they add 4K at 120fps (this is a huge "may be") and definitely the low-light stuff... the GH5 still has better 20MP stills... 6K anamorphic open-gate... so you win some to lose some, but at an additional $500 more.

Ummmm.... sorry to rain on your parade.... But... What if on December 15 they just put out a Firmware update??? Sure, there are patents and prototypes out there... But, isn't it a bit stupid of any company to announce anything 10 days before christmas and/or boxing day? I'm thinking of this particular scenario: Our spouses and/or partner may be thinking of buying you a GH5 for christmas.... and then you say.... no no wait for the December 15 announcement.... then you say... I want a GH5S.... then your partner asks.... when is that going to come out? In February/March.... OH.... Spouse/partner buys you a tie or mug for Christmas.
