On my anamorphic setup, I put the ultra contrast filter between the adapter and the lenses for best results So i'm pretty sure you can do the same

What wide angle taking lens with a KOWA 16-H x2 on a GH4?
Justin Bacle replied to DamienMTL's topic in Cameras
I can reccomend the lens turbo II (by mitakon) if you can (it's almost as good as the speedbooster). But i'm pretty sure you'll vignette with the mir-1B + speedbooster -

According to tito's hfov calculator, you should already be vignetting at 37mm, so I don't think you can go wider than that. (BTW, 37mm on a m4/3 sensor with a two time anamorphic gives you a 37mm horizontal equivalent, not 75 ) -

You should be good (vignette free) with a 35mm, what is wrong with the mir-1B ? If you need wider if you vignette at 37mm, you can go with a 40 or 45mm. I can reccomend the Minolta 45/2 "pancake" lens. but there are a number of equivalent lens out there -
Anamorphic Stories - ft. Isco UltraStar & Canon 50D

Flares (and other stuff) in action : Sorry for using the infamous warp stabilizer, but I didn't have my rig as I lended it (with my other camera) to a friend. Very quick edit, and graded using a Fuji lut after processing the luts with visionLog in ACR. Just wanted to try the flare technique with the ultrastar, nothing more intended in this video. -
If you think data is not relevant, you can add comment to help others modify it (The data is still relevant for my 50D, but i don't know about the other cameras)

Anamorphic Stories - ft. Isco UltraStar & Canon 50D
Justin Bacle replied to Justin Bacle's topic in Cameras
Great news ! I am finally able to get nice flares with the ultrastar ! I just put a cheap variable ND filter in front of the anamorphic and boom. Mind -> Blowned. (50D, Helios 44M, shot at iso 800, f/2 and 180°) -
I had a RAF rear clamp but switched to vid-atlantic front and rear clamps (for my ultrastar). - The RAF is more compact but it is a pain to change alignement (tiny screws that require an allen key. - The vid atlantic is great to use and easy to align. I just can't figure out why they went with a 60mm rear thread instead of a 58 or 62 as they are standard sizes. The rapido technology clamps seems to be the best option ATM but I haven't tested them yet.

I thought the first items you sell on ebay are free of charge. (Paypal still charges 2-3%, which I find okay)

Measuring or charting distance from entrance pupil?
Justin Bacle replied to Andy Zou's topic in Cameras
The Helios 44 lens sits back and if far away from the rear anamorphic adapter lens. But still gives best results It depends mainly of what is the "quality" you're looking for. But yeah, pancakes are great with anamorphic adapters -
Best micro 4/3 lens for shooting 4K video on GH4

If I have to buy new lenses, I'll go with Samyang video lenses. I used the 85mm and 8mm (eos mount) in the past, and got the 12mm (m4/3 mount) for my AF100. Samyang are a joy to use and have integrated gears, which is a must for follow focusing. SLR magic are great, don't get me wrong, but I would prefer a nice vintage prime to the SLR Magic if I want imperfections -

Oh, I think it is just one of my cat's hair. I'll check when I get back home -

Finally got the rear element ! Just needed a lot of wd-40, a screwdriver, and a BIG HAMMER ! #YOLO #HammersFixEverything -
I think ML devs said that they will not try to develop Magic Lantern for the Cinema EOS series. As teh XC10 & XC15 are part of the Cinema EOS cameras, they will not be a target for ML. (Let's hope they try one day :D )

I had the first one you posted. It is quite crappy but still better than nothing. I made mine recently with small rigs parts bought separately and the quality/price ratio is very very good

1. The m4/3 mount is way better IMO to adapt many lenses 2. Magic Lantern is not that reliable, I would not use it for sensitive work were you just "need to get the shot" But you won't shoot raw anyway in that case. So that's a couple of reasons, but they are not that relevant depending on what you do I guess :D I just ordered a KB 64Gb 1066x, I have to say, it is way more reliable than my Lexar card ! (but My lexar must be a very bad unit :s)

You can export in DNxHD and play them back with VLC. Cineform is an option too with the free VLC plugin

35NAP 2-3M (mod) – precision, light streaks, bokeh

I got the front element off yesterday but the back ring still wont unscrew. I did put even more WD-40 (because YOLO!) hopping for the best. (the front rign was very tight and difficult to unscrew, which makes me think that the adapter I got was in pretty bad shape :s) -
Is the Helios 44 a preset aperture design too ? Or just the 44-2 ? I know that the 44m is the same optically but with a clicked aperture. I have a 44-2 and two 44m the flares are a bit different between them (due to the differences in coating) but they seem to be identical in optical design. is the 44 the same ?

Will this iMac be good enough for 4K video editing?
Justin Bacle replied to Mat Mayer's topic in Cameras
Videos are stored on a RAID 1 (two disks) and scratch disk is an SSD. Grading 1080p videos in full res. As soon as I have a couple of LUTs it is quite laggy when scrubbing through the timeline (PC is an 4790k w/ 16 gigs of ram) -
Advice on eBay anamorphic lens listing (No advertising)
Justin Bacle replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
EDIT : Just called the guy yesterday evening, and he already sold the adapter. too bad :s -
I think the main difference between the 5Dmk2 and 50D is sensor size, image quality is very close (you can improve it by getting a aliasing filter) For your lenses, Nikon glass on canon is good but you don't get aperture control I think (cannot try it as I don't own any nikon gear :s)

YAY, PL mount Zoom lenses for everyone ! Oh wait, I just remembered I don't really care about zoom lenses :D
