Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...
Hanriverprod replied to jgharding's topic in Cameras
Ok. I know many dps shooting tv dramas, indie and studio films in Korea using af. But I guess your experience and reality is all that matters. And I specifically said docus, weddings, bts and indie filmmaking so it vibes with most of you in the West but again I guess your 'pro' opinion is reality. Maybe I need to reboot my simulation. -
EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake
Hanriverprod replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Canon thought they were being clever. Give us 8k and hq4k up to 120 so they can't be accused of crippling and then these settings also gave them cover to limit the camera's capabilities to keep protecting their cine line. It's like a loophole they came up with to try and shut us up with the constant bitching about their cripple hammer. "Fine! Give them everything they want and more! Just make sure to show them that if they force us to give them these capabilities that they can't expect for these cameras to work properly. In fact make sure it doesn't work properly, so these idiots can think that it's their fault for asking for these things!" They thought this would fix their tarnished reputation as a tech company that cripples their overpriced products. Instead of just giving us the 4k at 60p in hq with canon colors without overheating which most of us would have been happy with they included the 120 and 8k to say it's our fault for making them give us everything we can dream of which can't possibly work. So the blame for this lays on our feet. They just wanted to make us happy but we asked for too much. lol -
Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...

In docu-style and bts work most canon and sony have great af one can use all day. This includes anything from concert footage to weddings to convention coverage. I don't understand why this is even up for debate in 2020. Just search on youtube or google about how may professionals are using af in their work now. Even the pros who were skeptical before admit they use it now. Even on a low budget film try to keep the couple in focus as they walk towards you with lens around f4 and wider especially if light is low. See how many takes you do and watch the focus pullers eyes go bloodshot and the actors and other crew members lose their attention. You're about to lose all the light and money clock is ticking away. You can't come to this location again and the last 15 takes are all unusable because the one or two good takes the boom messed up or the actors were off. Now do the same shot with a canon cine camera with dpaf. Panasonic needed to sort this out 2-3 years ago. -

EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake

It would be infuriating if it wasn't so depressing with such lovely images coming out of these broken cameras. -
I'm aware you can match shots but most content you see from this camera is just not right. Anyway I have a Sony camera and kind of tired of always working to not make it look sickly. I was hoping this camera would be Sony's answer but it doesn't look that great either. It looks better but it still looks wrong especially indoors or with mixed lighting and any somewhat challenging outdoor shots. Almost everything from the R5 and R6 looks nice but those things are obviously broken.

EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake

It’s not crippling it’s the cynicism that everyone finds offensive. In fact this is canon’s snarky answer to all the criticism built over the years over their crippling. It’s like the C200. You can have the usual 8bit but you also get the completely impractical raw and also no 10bit which is what most professionals would use. Now you can’t accuse them of crippling. It’s the same cynicism with the R5. You get hq4k AND 8k so you can’t accuse them of crippling. But they can only be used for 20 minutes every 3 hours otherwise just use the line skipping 4k that was meh even 5 years ago. So before you point fingers and say we’re all noobs for pointing out this new level of cynicism from Canon maybe you should look in the mirror and try to see what’s really goin on. Noob. -

My brain cells are crying in agony reading some of these posts. Can't you just ban these people coming here to argue in bad faith just to obfuscate progress? -
Just because you get a group of people doesn’t make them right. The human race is a group of people too.
-
Are people delusional here? Every thing in reality has its own particular qualities and no matter how much people want to believe they can bend it to their will you cannot change the intrinsic value of the thing itself. A sony is a sony. You get great tech for its image quality unique to whatever makes it sony. Some like it some dont. Just deal with it.

sunlight like that goes a long way for any camera.
-
People keep saying it can be easily corrected but I keep seeing that zombie yellow and that clinical radioactive green everywhere unless it's that overcorrected atrocious orange and teal that's become synonymous with sony and I say this as someone who has one of their cameras.

Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating discussion all in one place
Hanriverprod replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
This guy basically confirms this camera is garbage for video work. -
people keep saying this that you can make whatever colors you want so through empirical data people who buy sony must just like crappier colors and this includes me as well
-
You're missing the hype train. The colors still suck at Sony. Canon looks nice but now they add mindblowing features no one can use for any practical reasons but they add it to market to us crabs in a barrel while knowing these features can't harm their now slightly higher tier cameras which have settings people can actually use today for work. The cynicism from these companies would be laughable only if their customers weren't so gullible.
-
I don't know. One girl looks like a zombie and the other one looks like she plays outside and gets some sunshine. And my main camera is a Sony. Oof
-
footage looks beautiful. nice camera.
-
It was randomly slipping in one frame from other parts of the clip. I started a thread on it in the resolve subforum on bmd's forum, then others mentioned the same issue as well as some owners of the a7s. Hopefully they fix it when it comes out of beta.
-
Great images from a camera at that price but what lens options do you have to use manual focus with good throw for a focus puller on a narrative shoot?
-
Resolve 14 on windows 10 has issues with Sony files like xavc-s and a7rii files.
-
I think content like this to be displayed in the television section of the store is fine. What else am I suppose to get out of this besides the image itself?
-
That's the way it should be, but they put internal 'raw' in it.
-
Panasonic needs to leave dfd af and figure out how to compete with dpaf because amateurs and professionals without large crews know how much time and energy this saves on a shoot. Panny can come out with the best features but dpaf is joining the idea of canon colors on why most will go with them knowing that their overpriced cameras are being crippled.
