I just find the footage, but I think it looks pretty great, the resolution and color of 3k downscaled to 2k is unreal compared to the hd raw I see online. If they can make it stable and workable I would shoot a feature on this.

I wouldn't call that filmic. It looks nice, but filmic? No. Nice video, to my eyes which is great. Now I been seeing some of the 3k footage of the hacked 5d iii and to me that looks filmic. It doesn't look soft and messy like the hd hack. Now it's sharp plus nice and thick with character like the bm, red and alexa cameras and some canon. But hey, that's just like my opinion man. Still, I would like a gh5 to play with.

Footage is nice, probably best I've seen so far. But he's shooting on a grey day, muted palette, slo-mo, some very shallow dof shots, tracking, so yeah it looks nice. It works with what he's got which is what he should be doing. Still, I agree this looks good.

That's my opinion. Is that okay?

From this forum and youtube, this is pretty entertaining.

So like anything it has good and bad qualities. Although after seeing what ml is doing with a 5 year old camera, the images from the gh5 like the gh4 seem videoy and anemic. I'm thinking about picking one up but I'm just being honest with myself about what I could use it for. Although I gotta say the marketing online and the hype is impressive I guess until we see what Sony unveils at NAB.

What does a camera manufacturer being competitive with other brands in terms of af have to do with manual focus?
-
For a company trying to lasso prosumer videographers why are all their lenses fly-by-wire with shoddy af? Shouldn't they come out with fast zooms and primes that you can use manually and on a follow focus system?

Maybe some forum members need to go to this meetup.

From all the footage I've seen so far Max's camera with af looks on par. I wish there was more footage of composed, graded 10bit stuff. I think we are all getting a good picture of what the af is like, it's time to move on.

Yeah, if I can get 3k and hdmi out monitoring I would like to shoot on this camera.

GH5 vs A6500 Autofocus Comparison - 4K & 1080P Max is going for broke with these af tests. Last few times I shot on a 80D I turned it on and the af just worked without digging into the menu. Did Panasonic try a shock and awe tactic with all their confusing af settings to hide outdated technology?

Not my footage but I agree it looks nice...

Max goes over main af settings for 30 minutes. TLDW - conclusion, use manual focus.

That's what I was curious about, movement with high contrast objects in indoor lighting.
-
I just assumed it was 1/50 (180 on this camera) because any respectable shooter would set it on that for 24fps, but looking at his notes he didn't write down the ss. Can you share some contrasty shots with simple pans and tilts?
-
To me, it doesn't look great. The ghosting is causing a strobing effect with anything with contrast. Especially with some of the pans near the end of the first video. I couldn't use that for professional work but I guess it's fine for personal footage? Colors look great though. It is only $2000. I wonder what the larger files will bring in the summer.
-
Simple handheld movements, pans and tilts shot on 4k 10bit 422 24fps.
-
This seems better than Max's test but still slow.
-
Yeah, at first, I was lukewarm, then hyped with some of the footage, and now it's a no go with that ghosting.
-
If it's a shared issue I wonder if they can fix via firmware. It would suck if it was hardware. Does anybody know about this? I guess it needs to be found out if others are affected.

Nice subject matter for promo and some of it looks great.
