Looks like the same issue with g85. It must be hard to place it higher with everything they jam into these small cameras.

I think most of the tests that show this problem with the g85 unfortunately is mostly all pans and tilts. If you walk around and shoot with it it is actually harder to notice the issue since you can't really tell if the jerky motion is just the user or camera. But after using the camera for three days mostly for video, you can recognize the problematic behavior in almost every handheld shot that has any movement with variation in speed or change in direction whether it is panning, tilting or moving in a diagonal path. If you go to the original thread about this on DPreview, besides Marcin and my test, there is another g85 owner who tested extensively in 1080 and 4k all exhibiting this issue (it is the multiple exterior footage of the satellites). I agree ibis is not for simulating a steadicam or even glidecam walking around, but I think the tests showing this feature/bug on the g85 have been fair especially Marcin's. If anyone has a body that doesn't show this issue when the IS is on and there is variation on speed and direction whether handheld or on a tripod, would love to see it.

Update on my g85 ordeal. This is a crosspost from a dpreview thread I opened there. I took the camera back to the reseller store I bought it from and I showed them some footage. They agreed it was unacceptable. Then two reps separately checked the store model and saw that it behaved the same way. So the manager opened another new box and checked it and was shocked to see the same thing. That's three cameras back to back all showing video footage bouncing around with basic camera moves, pans and tilts. They gave me a full refund for both camera, and lens and I heard the manager call the Panasonic office and speak to someone there he knew. He asked if they were aware of this issue. They said they weren't. Disappointed. If they fix this problem, it seems like it can be a wonderful camera for video, but unfortunately footage is unusable.

It's not because that is not my video I posted :D I wouldn't purchase this camera until it's known a firmware can fix it or they update the hardware. What's messed up is I was just doing handheld shots and it looked fine, but then I got all caught up with these lens issues and a spot in the images that I didn't know this was an issue until I saw this video.

As some of you guys know, I bought a new g85 and 14-140mm lens and both are unusable. I wanted to share this video and also confirm that my camera is also behaving the same way after further usage. Besides this jerking issue, I also had several other problems. The lens had a rumbling feeling when zooming in and out. I called the Panasonic store about that and they said it was unusual and to bring it in for them to check. Also, there was a scratch/tiny crack inside one of the front glass elements. There was also a spot on the images, but I'm not sure if it's from the imperfection from the lens. I'm going to see if I can get a refund for this camera tomorrow since the return policies in Korea are horrible for consumers. I just wanted to share this with anybody who is thinking about buying this to test it in the store before you purchase it. I was using dual is when this jerkiness became apparent.

I don't have a mic yet, gonna pick one up this coming week. I can say the internal mic picks up on it and six inches away from your face it's quite noticeable. I doubt it will be a problem with an external mic but if it is I guess an editing program can catch the hissing easily. Is a videomic pro the mic to get in that price range?

I picked one up today at a Panasonic store in Seoul. They told me that they only received 5 bodies. Initial impression: not much heavier than the g7 but feels substantial in the hand and not like a plastic toy. The body stabilization noise can be heard faintly at an arm's distance away. I couldn't hear at the shop but once I brought it home it's noticeable, so I wonder how loud it is compared to other companies ibis since this is my first camera with it. I got it with 14-140mm mk ii since they are not shipping or even selling the 12-60mm in Korea. The dual is seems great with this lens even at 140mm hand held. Have to do more testing, but I would feel comfortable walking about shooting this zoomed in without a tripod. I was concerned about the tracking af and it's not as intuitive as canon dpaf which just does it on its own but it seems pretty good once you set it. Also, the lens is new but when I'm zooming in or out in the middle it seems to catch like gears are slightly rumbling(?). Just at that point it doesn't seem that smooth. Does anyone have any experience with this lens 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 and know if this is normal? I'm no camera expert but if anyone has any questions I can try to answer it.

How do you find the mega ois for video? If I pick up the g7 I'm thinking about the wide zoom 7-14mm f4 and the 14-140mm f4-5.6 (the earlier version with mega ois). I went to the store last week, and they said they were going to sell g85 next week with an extra battery and strap or case (?) wasn't clear on that. He asked if I wanted to be notified because he said they didn't get a lot of bodies at first and thought it will sell out pretty quick.

I did a typo, 1,079,000원 is right. If autofocus is not improved from g7 I'm tempted to just pick that instead and use panasonic stabilized lenses. The canon 80d dpaf is nice but what's the point if the 1080 overall is soft? What do you think about panny lens ois vs their new cameras' ibis? You can go to their showroom in Subway Line 2 SeoCho Station Exit 1 and try a bunch of lenses on different bodies. If you bring your own sd card, they let you record your tests.

It's in Korea today for 1,007,000 won ($885 us) with extra battery but no battery grip or bundle with 12-60 lens. Kind of disappointing. Trying to decide between this and 80d for bts footage. Gonna go to the panasonic showroom in seoul and check out the autofocus and hear how loud this humming noise. panning looks weird

Also I wonder if there is any improvement in video autofocusing from g7 and gx85 and if an external mic on the camera will pick up on the continuous noise from stabilization.
