  1. I shot this for a company that owns the footage so unfortunately I can't share files with you but I'll post some screen grabs from it on Monday. The camera was so slow. All the old C cameras are slow. But the image from the C500 is undeniably great. We only shot to 4K ProRes HQ as the editors at the company I worked for aren't ready for raw and the turn around needs to be quick. From the dailys I've seen the footage from the C500 with Odyssey looks better than any Epic MX footage I've shot in the past. Idk why we never rented this camera before on RED shoots. I think the RED name holds a lot of value to producers. Idk. But this forum really encouraged me to branch out and try these old slow cameras. I recommend you guys do too!

    C500 shoot.

iThis is the first shoot I've done with the C500. The images coming off the camera are incredible. Using the whole range of original Canon C cameras! So fun.
  3. I'm trying to figure out the best anamorphic solution for the full frame-ish cinema 4K 1DC. I've been looking at the SLR adapters but I'm a little lost on all this. Plus the math on the Cine 4K aspect ratio vs. the traditional 4:3 or 16:9 is throwing me off. Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Thank you! It was a lot of work but was done in my spare time since it was more of a passion project thing. so I had fun with it. Thank you! My buddy Ruslan did a remix with the song that I really love too: Thank you! Check out another music video I did that's really similar if you liked Wildwood
  5. Its not bad. Try this profile. Its the best. Its so good we are calling it "SuperLog" Black Level: 0 (it's disabled in s-log2 anyway) Gamma: S-log2 Black Gamma: Range- Narrow, Level -7 Knee: auto Color Mode: sgamut3.cine Saturation: +32 Color Phase: -2 (this is for a7sII, for original a7s use -5) Color Depth: +6 (all of them) Detail: -6 Expose 1.5 to 2 stops over.
  6. I just wanted to share a fun passion project I just finished for an artist named "Fleurie". We shot all this in my living room and I did all the VFX in Apple Motion 5. Shot 4k with a7SII but delivered HD (my computer wouldn't handle 4k 3d graphics well). Just thought I'd share! Let me know if you have any questions about it. I had fun making it
  7. It's a totally different sensor. Which is a good thing because I believe the 1dc sensor is superior to the C100 sensor. More mojo. But I think cinema 5d did some tests back in the day with 1dc vs c100 s35. I need to do my own tests though I've been curios too.
  8. huh? Ya I noticed with my monitors and old Zacuto EVF. The Gratical will be future proof though and will be used on other productions with other cameras.
  9. I just re purchased a 1DC and pumped to have it back. Was able to buy the Zacuto Gratical as well with some of the money I saved by re buying it. ALSO....if you live in the New York area....take this offer up!!! $2199!!! Insane. http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/pho/5735235400.html
  10. I'd love to get a C500 in two years when the price comes down even more and 4K recorders are $300.
  11. That's awesome! Looks really nice. Thanks for sharing! Never heard of the guy. Typical American response I'm sure.. Lol
  12. The one I had was a totally different rating. I'm seeing the same quality of 1dc going for $3999 now online on B&H and eBay. And yes. You are right. I came out on top with what a rental vs return would have been. But how is that wrong again? I am baffled that this argument is still going on? I followed all the rules of purchase and return. How does a rental fee have anything to do with it? I wasn't satisfied with my purchase. If the price drop didn't happen within my 30 day window I wouldn't have returned it.
  13. I'm loving where this thread is going. Lol
  14. Actually...If I bought it new then it would be non refundable. Used doesn't state that its non refundable... For the record....I love to stick it to the man. But I haven't done that here. I followed every rule and did literally nothing wrong here. According to their own return policy, by me simply being dissatisfied (price drop) is all that is needed for a valid refund. That is all. I didn't loose $3000. More like $1,000 in the used market. Thats still pretty sucky! Hence my dissatisfaction.
  15. Oh gosh. Don't even remind me of that terrible incident!! Lol. I'm just glad he's fine now.
  16. From Adorama: "We believe that in order to have the best possible online shopping experience, our customers should be 100% satisfied with their purchase. So, if you're not happy with your purchase for any reason, just go through our easy self-service return process." I wasn't 100% satisfied because within that 30 day window the price of the camera went down $3000. That's reason enough according to them to be able to return it. They ran tests on it and responded to me that everything was fine and they clearly saw my usage of it. They still issued the refund. I don't feel like this was a wrong thing at all. Nothing in their return policy does it say "if used on paid work returns aren't allowed". If anything I would think that that's the best way to decide if your "100% satisfied". To use it in paid work environments since that's the way you're gonna be using it if you decide to keep it. Hahahaha!
  17. Yes. Adorama has a no questions asked 30 day return policy. As long as it's in good condition and all the pieces are still there
  18. I'm waiting on Photokina. Supposed 5d4 rumors that seem interesting and possible C100 mk3 at some point. We'll see.
  19. I bought my 1DC used a month ago just two weeks before the price drop. Paid $5,000 used. Just returned it and got a full refund! Now I may re purchase it new or hold out for what will happen in the next two months before I make a decision. I know that I LOVE the IQ of 1DC and my clients were very pleased with the way the footage came out in Mexico and Guatemala. I can't believe I got a refund. Kinda like a free 1 month rental!
  20. No. I really think Sony with the FS line and Canon with their C line are truly a step down from the Red and Arri world. I always choose to use Canon C for convenience and budget. Not IQ necessarily.
