This is crazy like hell, no way I am going to pay that money for a M4/3 camera......thanks for this update, I needed to make a final choice.....CANON HERE I GO AGAIN!!!!
-
Because of they were rushing to send this new model to the market before the GH5, and they really don`t care, they just want to sell cameras, save margins, the RS issue was the second main problem reported by everybody in the A6300 after the overheating, and they didn`t fix any of them, just mascaraed a little the overheating...
-
Please Tugela, there are plenty of A6300 videos out there to know exactly what is wrong with Sony skintones colors, and there are many post about it in the internet, do not hide you head in a hole!!, just read the recent post that Andrew published calling Sony skintones DEAD: "In isolation at full 20MP resolution on a large print or a large 4K monitor, the Canon looks more natural and true to nature, whereas the Sony looks dead. Also the Canon flatters skin, whereas the Sony exaggerates any imperfections even on a very good looking subject. See the following 2.8K JPEGs instead, full screen" A6500 was released early by Sony because of they knew after the GH5 is released most of the filmmakers will go with the GH5, like they did with the GH4 some years ago, there is no other explanation for suck early release, but if you like the camera it is OK, buy it and enjoy it, knowing that the camera will drop in price a third by Feb-Mar next year, in my personal preferences i will never put my money in a Sony camera, and of course I have the right to share with other filmmakers here my opinion so they can take an informed decision when choosing a new camera, and i provided clear reasons, skintones SUCKS, camera depreciation SUCKS, and for the specific case of A6300 and A6500, overheating SUCKS, RS SUCKS!!!
-
Agree, SONY SUCKS!, is the worst investment by far, but if at least it had good skintones it could be anyway an usable camera, for my personal taste, I only see Canon as an option, probably a GX85 with a speed booster I could use also, or the next GH5 if the price is right…..

Let´s see, better IBIS in the market now, do not overheat, you can literally stay filming the whole day, colors (no need to justify this one, it is so obvious), and you can move the camera around with confidence, not an horrible RS like the A6500….yes, it is a better camera for an experience filmmaker, who has the skill to manage the focus, who also use a pro audio equipment and do not rely in very bad audio camera recordings, a Z1 is really cheap, and a powerful tool in the right hands……of course for a blogger who is doing casual videos for youtube and lack of the skills learned by the pro, probably the A6500 could be a better camera, but I think those guys were smart enough to choose the Canon 80D, since they really don´t need 4K after all……the new A6500 was just released this year since Sony knows after the GH5 is in the market is game over for this line, the only think that could save it is if Panasonic is stupid enough to set a price around US$ 2,000 instead of US$1,500, if GH5 is released at US$1,500 the A6500 will devalue most probably 1/3 of its current price the same day!!!…..and guess what?, yeah, the Canon 80D will cost just a little less, those tricky smart bloggers really know what they are doing….do not underestimate them!!!!

As I already answered you, a GX85 is a better camera, and is a lot cheaper! I disagree, yes, with DaVinci you really can improve the skin tones from Sony, but they are never going to look like out from Canon cameras, just watch the last examples that Andrew uploaded, the science behind the two cameras is totally different, I am not telling you one is better than other from an objective point of view, in my particular case, I really dislike the skin tones from Sony, people looks horrible (Andrew uses the world dead), and for me that is the most important, if you really don`t care about skin tones then probably Sony is a much better camera, I am also burnt with Canon holding back so much, it is really frustrating, but I have to film a doc next year, so I will have to do it with what is available, going XC15 for now, or C100 if I got a good sale!!!
-
I will better choose a GX85 everyday of the week, it´s a no brain decision, but in my particular case I will always go Canon route, the skin tones are the most important for me, and a XC15 is what I am saving to buy soon, or a C100 if there is a good deal….
-
To be honest, I love your reviews Andrew, even though you change your mind after a while like for example with the XC10, this new Canon camera looks really nice, and if i had the money I will certainly get one, for now, a XC15 is what I can afford, and I choose that over any other Sony new camera, color is very important to me and the dead skintones from Sony is unbearable.
-
Sony skintone is terrible, and this new camera is US 1,500, mmm!!! there are much better options out there…..
-
Looks like the XC15 is the way to go for now, but XC10 is becoming very cheap, so tempting.
-
It is a lot better, you can clearly notice it from your samples. Did you use davinci?
-
This is becoming an horror movie, every week a new issue arise, I hope this only impact the XC10 and is already corrected in the XC15 like the ghosting.
-
I wonder what is going to be the discount this Black Friday for the XC15, anyone knows using previous years discounts on Canon cameras?
-
If it is just for an interview get two second hand XC10, they are going to be fine and you will have also the option to re-frame, later sell one of them, or both of them , you will probably get back almost the same money you spend.
-
Well, Jimmy should get a XC15 to avoid the ghosting issue, then he could go high on ISO. Any news from Canon about the ghosting?, XC10 is now really cheap in second hand market, and it is really a good option if that ghosting is fixed by firmware.
-
Without the background they look incredible similar, this little monster looks really good for run&gun, just waiting to see more information about other XC15 also free of ghosting, i can´t take the risk that tomsemiterrific was the only lucky one who got a working camera, can´t believe you can´t trust in canon anymore!!!
-
I have been looking for a good deal on a XC10 in ebay the last weeks and I never see any even close to 1,200, did you make an offer for one of the cameras published around 1,700?
-
OMG, the XC15 is clean, the ghosting issue is probably inherent to the XC10 only, time to sell your XC10 and upgrade!!!
-
Two guys said in the other topic related to ghosting they are not having the issue, I think first an example from them is imperative, if they are not having the issue then we are in serious problem, since it is a problem related to camera building instead of firmware update.
-
XC10 looks better, more details in highlights, but I would like to see a good comparison between XC10 and C300 MKII in 4K
-
I think we should wait for a proper rolling-shutter test, I only trust in what my eyes can see, anyway 29 minutes and no overheating is good news, looks like 6500 is what we all supposed was going to be 6300

After 3 years, I finally finish my film, shot with Nikons.

Congratulations Matias, but I am not surprised at all, Argentina always is at the top in filmmakind! -
yeap, and I hope GH5 is going to be even closer.
-
No speed booster so you are right, we are f*ck up.
-
I would say other, Canon uses different sensors and processors, same or less robust codec, and still a better image, it is the way how the color are managed/mised
