Slim to none. Sony ain't Fuji.

Finally! Proxy settings too đ

The absence of the Sony logo on the LCD threw me off as well but youâre right Nokishita is as reliable as it gets when it comes to leaks/rumors.. The design is definitely uninspired. The Sony exec claiming just a few weeks ago â Everything is newâ and âexceeding expectationsâ was clearly trolling. I wouldâve really liked one new killer design feature like a E-ND or something. oh well, after the Canon fiasco, I guess anything 10-bit that doesnât overheat is game on.

Thatâs what Iâm saying, RS appears pretty darn good. Btw, those leaked âofficialâ pics appears to be fake.

You don't necessarily need ARRI/RED to achieve those objectives. Any camera that shoots RAW, ProRes, 10-bit 4:2:2 ALL-I Log should easily get you there. FWIW Netflix capture requirements: Capture Format RAW (X-OCN, REDCODE, Arriraw etc.) COMPRESSED (XAVC, AVC-Intra, ProRes, or other I-Frame capable formats) Minimum of 16-bit Linear or 10-bit Log processing Minimum data-rate of Bitrate of 240 Mbps at 23.98 fps

Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating discussion all in one place

^ Yeah with the current situation I would never use an R5 on such a project. Again total deal breaker. -
Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating discussion all in one place

So basically you're saying it's ok for Panasonic users to bash Canon in this thread, however you're not ok with actual Canon users being disappointed by these recent developments and hope for a fix? That to me is ludicrous. You're also completely twisting my words, letting your own bias cloud your judgement. Total fanboy reaction. I'm the first to admit that the latest findings by Gerald Undone is a total deal breaker for me, and I'm sure many others. I was sort of ok with the initial Canon R5 overheat chart, however absolutely NOT with the camera locking 8K/HQ modes after 1 hour of stills or just regular standby. All I'm saying is that IF this carries through to production units OR Canon somehow doesn't fix that behaviour, there is going to be a massive uproar. I will be the first not to support this camera. Mark my words. I'm also well aware of the A7S3 release tomorrow, and as I'm also a Sony/FS7 owner and will be closely monitoring what that camera offers and it's potential caveats (which I hope don't include any overheating). -

Chelsea was probably hungover and forgot to charge the battery overnight. Sorry but T&C just arenât the most rigorous testers out there.. -

Taking stills and shooting in pixel-binned 4K shouldnât brick the camera. However it apparently does heat it up enough that the 8K/HQ modes canât operate after some point. This behavior seems odd and perhaps a pre-production issue. Which is why I suggested there is perhaps a slim chance Canon fixes that particular issue in firmware. Not trying to defend Canon, if they arenât able to fix that then itâs going to be a deal breaker for many, including myself. -
I highly doubt Sony is looking over his shoulder. The guy has been traced back to being the one who blew his NDA by carelessly leaking the camera body image.. besides no âworkflow changeâ can improve things like rolling shutter in the driving scenes or during his brutal whip pans..

Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating discussion all in one place

I have to admit Iâm pretty gutted by that. As a long time Canon shooter I was really hoping R5 was going to be the one. But in no way can I trust a camera that will not even shoot a second of over sampled 4K video after an hour of shooting stills. Thatâs just utterly ridiculous. Hopefully Canon can fix that in firmware because I think thatâs going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people! -
Good catch, I think youâre right.. looking at a similar vlog he did a month ago with an A73, the footage is night & day: skin tones are awful, motion cadence is terrible, grading breaks up, rolling shutter is visible and at 5:30 the highlights are all blown. whereas on his latest car review, IQ looks amazing with much better DR, skin tones and almost no RS. If so, A7S3 is shaping up to be a major upgrade in Sony IQ. Pretty excited for tomorrowâs announcement!

I think Sony may win this round. They played it âsafeâ with no 6K/8K or even oversampling. Just solid 10-bit 4K with hopefully no time record limit. The lowlight, DR & fast readout should give top results. Theyâre AF is getting better on each generation. Its almost as if the Sony exec bluffed Canon with its âexceeding expectationsâ remark forcing Canon into an overkill/overheating trap..House of cards style of the imaging game! -

That isn't going to happen though. Maybe on the R5 II in 4 years. Some will argue the overheating was purposely overlooked by Canon as to not hurt the Cxxx sales. Either way, external cooling seems to be best bet, Canon themselves recommend it (as ludicrous as it may sound). -

Whaaaat? now that is pretty scary đ± It's honestly looking more & more grim. I really want an R5 but the A7S3 is calling my name if it proves to be a more reliable tool with not too many caveats. Canon need to partner up with Tilta and include that cooling system in the box or else there is going to be a lot of angry campers out there! -

I actually like what they did here, and if their claims are true it could be a decent workaround. I do wonder about how the USB power works though, is it as simple as plugging it into the bodies USB-C port or do you need an external power bank? -

Youâre reading waaaay too much into my comment Andrew. I didnât mean to take âsidesâ with Drake.. was just clearing up the confusion that other members may have had concerning his on going prĂ©sence here. I personally couldnât care less either way lol.. I will try and do my best to not refer to any of your âfoesâ in the future though as it clearly seems to get you triggered..?! -

Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues â in both 4K and 8K
Django replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
True those are some pretty significant upgrades for stills shooting and levels things much more with Sony's higher-end offerings. I'm being very cautious as well as I simply can't have a camera that bricks on me under any circumstances (which certainly rules out R6). Looks like 1DX3 isn't such a bad investment after all as it does offer FF oversampled 10-bit 4:2:2 4K & 5.5K RAW without any overheating issues. Still the most reliable pro hybrid from Canon! -

Of course an 8.2K oversampled 4K IQ is going to be vastly superior to a non oversampled pixel binned 4K IQ. That's why it's called HQ lol.. At least there is a 4K HQ mode, unlike the A7S3's non oversampled 4K. A comparison in between those two will be interesting. As for the overheating, what I would really like to get confirmation is if when overheating warning is turned on, can you switch to regular 4K without the camera ever bricking. Also still no serious RS tests...
