    GH5 Prototype

Keep these videos coming, bigfoot. Will watch them when my night shift begins in an hour (might as well get paid).

    GH5 Prototype

Just realised that LA is eight hours behind London - thought it was five and therefore should have started 4pm my time (which was two hours ago). That will explain the lack of interest across the internet

    GH5 Prototype

No live feeds anywhere and no updates via live bloggers. Has the event finished?

    GH5 Prototype

That's not the best of starts. Is there a live link?

    GH5 Prototype

Going to miss the whole thing - sleeping in-between night shifts.
  6. I'd just wait. This is more a thread for posting footage and discussing that footage. I haven't seen a post from Andrew for a few days so I suspect he's busy for now.
  7. Mine says Version 2.0 Previous PDF was Version 1.2 (Just remembered that I saved the PDF on my mobile)
  8. I read it on here some weeks ago (there were two threads at the time). I'm at work now so it's not so convenient for me to find it. I did screenshot the relevant posts in case I got confused with the a7s settings but these are at home. I haven't yet applied Pro Color to my a7s because I am still experimenting with Pro Color settings on my A7sii.

    Handheld Shooting

If you have nothing, shoot using your body and not your arms or hands. You can get some super smooth shots moving your hips side to side with your elbows tucked in. You can do the same thing up and down by bowing. Most camera movements are subtle and only 'travel' a very short distance. A better shot can be had doing those things but with a £5 monopod.
  10. Lol I stick my 28mm on my A7sii, switch to silent shooting, turn off the LCD and get some fantastic close up angles of natural expressions as I am wandering around crowds. I always look in the opposite direction to where I am shooting and have mastered the art of pretending I have seen something fascinating off in the distance. For my 70-200 I can do the same but have to stand or sit still and 'fish' an area of the street.
  11. I watched your video on my Note 4 which has a respectable (for a phone) representation of saturation and it looked good to my eyes. If I had watched it on my wife's Sony Xperia it would have been way over saturated. I have yet to have a chance to watch it on both my iMacs but will not judge any video or photo on the basis of what my mid 2011 version throws up. My 2015 5k iMac gets closest to a true representation (though I know that they can't hold a torch to a professionally calibrated monitor) regarding videos and photos I have shot myself. I'll report back when the other half has dragged herself out of my office (bedroom) but I know what you mean about some smartphones inducing nausea. When I put stuff up on Facebook I implore people to not view it on their mobiles. However, the masses are now used to grossly oversaturated images and probably think that real life (that they see through their eyes in their everyday world) is a washed out heap of boredom. When Instagram first showed its face, all was sepia with half of everybody's photos online lost to vignetting.
  12. Had the same drift problem with the DS1 as scotchtape has with the Crane. Never did get a fix for it.
  13. Second and third hand GH4s are going to be going for a lot less than the £850 being asked for right now on UK sites.
  14. Oh right, looked like an 85 f1.8 or similar in the thumbnail.
  15. Haven't tried it on the a7s yet, but that looks good. Which lenses/lens?

    GH5 Prototype

Fat cat laws on the definition of a camcorder. When Brexit happens in about 100 years, things will change on that front.
  17. I love Jason Lanier's work and saw part one of the video above. He not only knows what he is doing with light, but also has a great way with people from all kinds of different backgrounds. You can have all the technical know-how and all the best equipment in the world but end up like the Angry Photographer, who has never produced a single piece of (his own) work for anybody to see and spends all his time ranting at all things Sony. As for flash - does my head in when shooting video. Bloody big white stripes across my slow motion and that horrid clack noise ruining my audio. Still.
  18. Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 and 42.5 f0.95 on a GH5 should give plenty of DOP. Or fast Sigma primes with a speed booster. On a GH5, naturally.
  19. I remember those videos. He was getting tens of thousands of views with 200 dislikes for every like but whenever you searched, his videos filled the first page.
  20. Bloom is likeable if you get British humour, which can be purposely angry and dark - though I could imagine him being a nightmare to work with until such time you are comfortable to give some back. Kai is simply likeable and one of the few big YouTube personalities that I enjoy watching. He has not produced one piece of art in his life (that I am aware of) but I doubt that he clubs stray dogs to death when off camera.

    GH5 Prototype

The GH5 is shaping up to be the best sub £2500 camera of all time. Panasonic are truly back on the map - they will shift tonnes of these in the time it takes for their competitors (at that price point) to catch up. 4k 60p will be the new prosumer baseline starting point.
  22. I average $1 per 1000 views and have yet to earn $250 in two years lol. It is good to be monetised, though, just in case you film something extraordinary that gets a few hundred million views in a short time whereby advertisers fall over themselves to pay the top rate for a few months. My biggest gripe are the spammy companies offering to license your video and offer you 60% - how generous of them. To be a top earner on YouTube you generally have to appeal to the lowest common denominator; which is to have wild hair, a whacky disposition, be stunningly good looking, have a knack for tapping into the brains of the near dead, master the art of false humility and get people to feel sorry for you, be a big fat show off or any combination of those listed. There are many seriously talented folk on YouTube who get nowhere in terms of hitting a million subscribers (or even a thousand in many cases) but then that is not why they are there in the first place. Philip Bloom has around 125,000 subscribers Casey Neistat has around 6,125,000 subscribers That tells you all you need to know about this world.
