If the rumors about the 12mpx stacked sensors are true, PRAISE FUCKING BE. If they don’t botch it with not including s-cinetone this may well be my dream documentary video camera.

I’m certain I’ve seen the option of recording 1080p 24/25/30 ALL-I in the R6. It’s the 4K options that are strictly limited to IPB from what I understand.

Why would it overheat in 4K 30p and not 24/25p? Makes no sense whatsoever. But I’m really interested in the 1080p ALL-I from that 20mpx sensor and how it is derived - that is if it will be GH5 and Z50 class (also 20mpx sensors).

Disgusting. Makes the camera unusable for any type of interview work.

I remember a video where Potatojet puts a whole lot of cameras in a preheated incubator to see how fast they overheat when recording 4K. Funnily enough the Canon 90d just keeps going and going, indefinitely, only with breaks to repress the record button every half hour. This cheap ass camera is thus less prone to let you down on your shoot making you look like an idiot. But then again it doesn’t shoot 8K, nor does it shoot 10bit 422 and it lacks IBIS. But I has really good rolling shutter performance in 4K and very good autofocus. I know which camera I would rather bring on a paid assignment.

I think it’s possible to turn it off in 4K 24p as they’ve shown videos of the display where you actively have to turn it on in 24p.

I totally agree with you Andrew, the R5 is a pro camera with regards to pricing and as a stills camera it certainly seems to fit the bill, but as a cinema tool or a documentary video camera it’s seems to me that it’s not reliable enough for a wide variety of applications. The overheating notwithstanding, really I think it makes a remarkable difference if a camera has 24 ms or 30ms readout speed in video. As a youtube camera it’s probably great, certainly if you’re a “creator” which basically means reviewing gear with the intent of creating good little consumers out of your followers.

Does anyone know if the 1.1x crop on the R6 in 4K is present on the 1dxiii as well?

It will be interesting to see real footage from both cameras, especially with regards to overheating and rolling shutter. I'm intrigued that they've chosen to let you decide whether or not you want oversampling when shooting in 4K with the R5 for example. I imagine that that mode is more prone to severe rolling shutter and overheating and so on and so forth.

According to Nokishita the R6 is most likely using the same sensor and processor as the 1dxIII. Hello 30+ms rolling shutter in 4K.

Agreed. I just hope the rolling shutter performance is better than on the 1dxIII. Can’t see how though.

I wonder if Sony will put S-Cinetone in the A7sIII/H or if they’ll just release a new version of the already weird colors, keeping the tradition of non consistency alive. This matters much more than 8K raw imho.

The fact that this beautifully designed and engineered camera doesn’t overheat thanks to it’s clever use of a heatsink puts many other manufacturers to shame. They should thus take notice and pay their respects to this simple yet extremely elegant solution. It makes me even want to buy a Sigma fp just to support the company, even though I don’t really need the camera.

That shortfilm is second to none compared to every ”branding video” I’ve seen made with cameras in this price range. Really impressive.

They also fixed the flickering blacks with this firmware.

It seems Sigma fixed the flickering issue with the 2.0 firmware. Nikon should take notice.

Very sad news this, I have fond memories of my long gone E-M10ii. A dream camera would have been the GH5S sensor in a E-M1iii body with IBIS, 10bit internal, 4K 60p and the PDAF of Olympus.

I see people are getting excited about the new leaks on the R6, myself included, but until someone tells me how that camera will suffer from less rolling shutter in 4K than the dreadful one on display with the 1dxiii, color me doubtful.

So they finally fixed the overheating? I take it you’re shooting in 4k? The irony in solving the heat issues but still leaving out picture profiles...

I never noticed any flickering on my Z6 but I always shot in flat or z-log. Is it possible to provoke the effect even when shooting internal 8-bit?
