Well I am sure on average most people won't be spending literally all day using their camera on a Gimbal. So yeah even on the heavy side is not terrible for shorts takes. It is the every time you use it thing, every time you re pick it up you are going to have to tweak it. That is my bitch with Gimbals I don't care if they are on a iPhone. Now something like the new Osmo Pocket you won't have to do anything I guess That would be nice. This stuff is not so bad if you have a crew. Each person has a job to do. If you are a one man band it gets old F ing with all this stuff to get 2 minutes footage for a B Roll. That is what pisses me off with a Gimbal or even a Glidecam..

So Emanuel you are going to hook that eGPU to a late 2013 Apple Pro and it is going to grade without proxies, and render no problem C200 Raw footage? Or are you talking editing C100 footage LoL? ?

If it takes a 6000 Dollar desktop to do this stuff Ain't no Laptop in hell going to do that. And that system is not the best you can do. https://www.pugetsystems.com/recommended/Recommended-Systems-for-DaVinci-Resolve-187/Buy_250

will we ever see the rise of the global shutter cameras?

I can't much imagine what will be out in 5 years from now. But I would think what will be out then will be so amazing that the Need for a better camera will be over with for the average person. Sure there can always be better, but most cameras now are better than the operators even now. So maybe some of the GAS will disperse by then.. ? -

Well the best lens to buy in my opinion is the Olympus 60mm f2.8 for Marco. And it does AF. But yeah for best results you should always MF if possible. Shooting tiny things is Never going to be easy as heck, especially live things that move, or Bite! https://www.amazon.com/Olympus-MSC-60mm-2-8-Lens/dp/B0096WDK0K

Wow these things all look big and clunky, and a pain in the ass LoL. Not my cup of tea.

I don't see why anyone wants to buy a Laptop to do 4K 60 10bit, or 12bit Raw editing. Do you really think a laptop is going to be able to run balls to the wall, wide open doing a 1 hour or more Render?? Crazy talk. Or being stuck doing Proxies all your life. You want big boy Codecs you have to buy big boy computers. Most people would be better off buying a old C300, C100 and being able to edit with a 2010 Mac Laptop. Probably better output to be honest.

First one to me looks like a Red camera, second like a Canon for what it is worth. Steel Blue versus Orangish.

I would buy 2 cameras. A C100 with DPAF for video, and then some kind of APSC Canon for photos. That way can use the same lenses and have the same aspect ratio and Color Science. Maybe a 80D with the C100, or a 70D and do some ML stuff. But maybe you want 4K with HDR? GH5, X-T3 do that the cheapest .

The BM Mini is pretty much rated at 12 stops, and the BM 4.6 Pro is pretty much rated at 15 stops. So a 3 stop loss on paper, which is a lot. But the 4.6 Pro is a newer generation sensor, so the new tech alone may have added 1/2 to 1 stop. So I don't think Global Shutters are as bad as most make them out to be. 12 true stops is not too shabby if it is real stops. Same spec DR as the C100, C300 sensor and they seem to do pretty well also. A BM Mini, even today, has a damn good looking output. What the PK4 is 13 stops. Not a heck of a lot more even today. But it is a smaller sensor. 4.6 has a bigger sensor than the Mini, so that helped add a bit more DR maybe. Interesting DR chart for the PK4. Might help people out on what to expect at higher ISO's. http://www.aramk.us/bmpcc4k-chart-dynamic-range/ -
It would appear that 8K is not possible on a m4/3 chip size according to Panasonic. The main reason for the new FF S1R I guess. http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=http://mizuwari.fr/index.php/2018/09/12/un-hybride-24-x-36-mm-signe-panasonic-une-folle-rumeur-pas-si-folle/&xid=17259,15700021,15700124,15700149,15700186,15700191,15700201,15700237&usg=ALkJrhi2HRUYPDS333HUJqSaphRfsHZYMA Part 1 of the above article. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmizuwari.fr%2Findex.php%2F2018%2F11%2F29%2Fsalon-de-la-photo-2018-panasonic-lumix-hybrides-24-x-36-mm-alliance-l-service-lumix-pro-le-point-avec-mathilde-lecuyer%2F Sort of the lead in to the link above. "About the future: the 8K in 2020 and the reflex / hybrid rocker 2,020, 8K objective. How do you see it happening, confident or not, because 2020 is almost tomorrow? Confident, yes, because so far we have always been right to trust our engineers at Panasonic. They have always kept their deadlines and their promises. We had no doubt that we would arrive in full format one day or another, because technically speaking the 8K on Micro 4/3 is complicated, if not impossible . So the full format today allows us to access, in the long run, this 8K which is actually developing as it was announced at photokina two years ago now, and remains announced as available in 2020".

RS looks pretty bad to me. https://***URL removed***/forums/post/61700133 But on this video it looks pretty good. But older Sony cameras are about as bad as any camera RS wise! -
This is from a B&H customers reviews question. No guarantee, but it seems like the EF-S lens should work? But the comment is 2 1/2 years old. I am sure there is a revision as of now. From the B&H questions section. "This unit works with Canon EF and EF-S lenses. The Canon 100mm IS will be able to mount on it and it should work. However, only select lenses have been tested and varied to work at this point, with the 100mm not being one of them. Here is a list of the tested lenses. I like the Magic Bullet better. More complementary. Not as harsh.

Yeah seems like a great item to just have in your glove box at the ready when you want it. Battery life seems to be my biggest concern. 2 hours is not that great with no replaceable battery.

Yeah but I am not too sure I would trust cables that thin long term. I think there is 19 wires in a Good HDMI cable. A cable that thin the wires would be crazy small..

I use nothing but Twisted Vines Cables for video and I have never had any problem with the cables, or right Angle Adapters. But I must admit I am not pushing 4K 60p 10bit! Only down side is they are pretty stiff. https://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Veins-High-Speed-Cable/dp/B014EV0G3G

I have heard Alienware is not what it was value wise years ago. Not sure what to tell you what to buy. Dell has always been good stuff. No doubt a Desktop Box is way cheaper than any Laptop that might edit 4K. I would just get up on the web and see if you can find some good comparisons. 3000 bucks ought to get the job done on a Box. The big money might be in buying a decent 4K, 5K monitor that can do HDR 2020. That is going to be the future, and it is here now. HDR is the future like it or not, a heck of a lot more than 8K is ever going to be for years to come. Heck even a few Phones do true HDR now, and a lot of them can view it on the display. A lot of videos are going to look pretty weak not using HDR when it gets damn popular. My son and I were in Best Buy a few months ago and particularly Sony TV's that had HDR were a True standout compared to those that didn't have it. You could spot them half way across the store. They are that good.
