Well with this thing having Dual ISO some of those thoughts are out the window. 3200 is 3 stops over base and it is nearly as good as 400. Whole new beast this camera is to the average person. Going to take a lot of trial and error to figure all of it out. Surely the GH5s owners have some experience, even the EVA1, Varicam owners on what works the best.

New video about overexposure. 1600 ISO sort of looks like a no go to me. Impressive results on 400, 3200 ISO though.

LukiLink project turns smartphones into an HDMI monitor

I had to go with a bigger Manfrotto Magic Arm to support the weight. I hang it off the 3/8 hole in the side of the tripod. Not sure I would recommend the one I have below. Get the one with the round knob you tighten. I seem to Never be able to get the one I have tight enough on average even though it is damn heavy duty. I have 2 smaller magic arms and they are too weak for the weight of a larger iPad. Mine is the 9.7". Probably a Mini iPad might work with a smaller arm.. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/325446-REG/Manfrotto_143N_143N_Magic_Arm_without.html -
Well I think using the example of the iPhone to make that Ad is pushing it a bit as they say. But now with the PK4 out we are talking a heck of a lot narrower gap between it and a Arri Alexa. That camera has now, for a lot of uses rigged out right, is a total game changer. And when BRaw comes to it it is even going to be more useful. So I don't think there is going to be as many 100K Ads made as before. Maybe 20K gets it done. Who knows. But it is going to get harder and harder in a few years for a person to justify using a Arri unless you are doing a Serious Project. Even the DR gap is not huge either. 1 1/2, 2 stops. Now sure the LF one is more, but we are only talking crazy high end stuff yet using it. Amazing how fast the gap has narrowed in the last few years. I think if they came out with a PK4 in a true Cine body say EVA1, FS5 sized they would really sell the crap out of them at even 2500 bucks a pop. Personally I think the body shape is just too goofy the way it is. Right now there is no place to even put your right thumb without pushing on the Aperture, Focus buttons.

Only camera you can really use most 16mm lenses on is the Original BMPCC and the Digital Bolex.

I think in this day and age nobody but the people making money off of it care about a 100K Ad. The iPhone gets the point across just as well as an Arri can. Whole new era.

I have Field Monitor. It works great. I use it on my iPad 2018. I use it with my Sony A7s. But i had to use the Sony hack to force my camera to have WiFi to stay on all the time. About drove me crazy at first trying to keep it connected. -

It looks to me that there is a knurled Knob that you have to screw in to lock the handle. Doesn't look adjustable to me.

A pretty serious PK4 rig.

You seem to piss and moan about everything and everybody on here as of late.. Yeah we both probably ought to take a break. I don't come here to see political crap. Leave it at home. Talk about cameras, not all your problems. At my age I have seen lots of kind of goofy ass shit happen politically. in a few years they get thrown out and it goes back to normal. And then it swings way back the opposite way. This shit isn't new. YOU act like Chicken Little. Chill out, it isn't worth the stress or the ulcer you are going to get.

Yeah but a true native m4/3 lens is not the same animal as a adopted FF lens formula, optics wise. You are Only using the center on the m4/3 body using a FF lens. Even a poor lens on FF is not too bad looking on a PK4. Actually the poor lens probably has a better Cine look to it to be honest on the PK4. ?

You are probably right. But with the crop in this camera you have to go Wide as hell to get wide. And the wider you get the worse it is going to get. And with no corrections, I can sort of see why they did it, it might end up being it's Achilles Heal for what most people would like to use it for. And most Anamorphic lenses REALLY suck at the edges to start with that are affordable. So it will be interesting. Some of it can add to the mood, but some of it can kill the mood also. Interesting camera for sure, good and bad. I would still like to buy one. I have sort of got hooked on 16mm on my Sony A7s. So I would have to go to 8mm on the PK4. Might get interesting doing that. Not worried about the 120 crop, I would not go that slow I think.

X-T3 vs A7III vs EOS R vs Z7 vs Pocket 4K - Video Quality Compared!
webrunner5 replied to Mako Sports's topic in Cameras
I don't agree. None of those cameras tested other than the PK4 are Cine cameras. 98.5% of everyone that will buy them will use them for their kids, some friends wedding, at a picnic, etc. and upload 10% of it to You Tube. They are not looking for a Cine look. They are looking for detail. They don't want some fuzzy looking footage of their Kids when they look at footage 5 years later. They want sharpness. And the EOS-R is the last damn camera they need to do it with. Is it Cine footage, well hell no. It is only the crazies like us on here, and other people that make a living doing it, even know what the hell Cine even looks like, or cares. Anyone that is big into a Cine look is not buying a EOS-R to start with. It is pretty useless it appears for Cine work, even 1080p. For photos hell they are probably soft also knowing Canon. Better to buy a used Nikon D850 or a A7r mk II, mk III if doing photos. Lot more MP. This thing is just a Canon T3i they tried to make do 4K FF. It looks that far behind. Now I do realize this a lower model compared to the top model Z7. So yeah I will give it a little slack for that. But this thing just looks like some half assed effort, forced out by the top brass to Just say they have a Mirrorless FF camera. Not some I sure as hell hope, the best they can do. -

Well at my age I would make one hell of a lot more mistakes than IBIS is going to make! ? -
Not on the edges that I see. Sure I would hope using 12 bit Raw you get better results than a GX85 can produce .

I would think it is from them not having any software corrections for Vignetting, Barrel Distortion , Pincushion, on and on. Most lenses are crap on the wide end new or old. A lot of the old lens suck at having poor coatings ,or if they have it are half wore off, or have swirl marks from hell. Fungus in older lenses adds to it also. Having a camera with No corrections is not very conducive to super great output, especially once you get below 18mm FF equivalent. Back in the day anything wider than that in FF was a Fisheye lens

Out of likes. I could not have said it better. People just buying a damn Canon camera because it is a Canon. Crazy. Even the Z7 has better AF than the EOS-R now. -
Yeah I think peoples frustration will be more camera oriented than Editing. Even the Media cost are going to be expensive. I am not too sold on using a SSD to do this. A Tye C cable is really easy to pull out. And it stupid looking having cables running all over to get snagged. And CFast cards are Big money to get rid of the problem. Piss poor battery life, not really a problem for me, you need to change the media by then anyways. But the average person is going to say WTH!. And no continuous AF that will suck for everyone like it or not. No tilt screen, on a tripod that is going to be a bitch in sunny conditions. It is going to be like Really owning a Cine camera. It is not even close to a Hybrid that most people Probably Really need. What do you mean little piss ass mp Photos LoL. So I can just see a lot of regular people just say piss on this I am going to get a A7 III or a X-T3. And I will buy one for 750 bucks used. Bingo for me. And then I get to cuss like hell also LoL.

It is looking better by the day that now it is in the hands of some skilled people. Looks like a must buy if you are into a Cine look. Now for straight out of camera stuff for Docs, yeah probably the X-T3. But I am sure this can look good also.

Yeah we have gained quite a few new members because of the Fuji X-T3, and the PK4, Z7, Z6, EOS-R, etc.. So I just wanted to "Inform" some who may not realize it can do 4K. There are a heck of a lot of cameras out now in the last 5, 6 years. And a lot of them amazingly good yet to this day. Especially if you Don't need 4K. Some real true Cine cameras buys out there Like your Sony PMW F3.

Also interesting. It is a little outdated, but Fuji makes Tons more money with the Instant Film than they do with real digital cameras. I would of never guessed. https://fstoppers.com/news/instant-film-not-digital-cameras-main-reason-fujifilm-doing-so-well-222998
