  1. Yeah gear is not everything no doubt. If a person is good you just pick shots that do work with what you got. And being minimalist is actually pretty liberating to be honest. It actually looks more realistic than a bunch of locked off shots. It is the plot, that story that makes stuff happen. Not really the gear. Tons of great stuff have been done with the original BMPCC and a bunch of spare batteries in your pocket. Actually more fun to use than this new PK4 will be. It is too big. ? Hell Anything related to video is a pretty piss poor business decision for the average person. It is worse than boat ownership LoL. But they are giving away good video gear now compared to 10 years ago. You had to buy stuff that was so outdated why bother then. Hell I was using 3 tube 2/3" ENG cameras when CCD Digital ones were going pretty strong. They were Crazy money.
  2. Well the original A7s like I have is going for like 750 dollars. But yeah you would have to change a lot of gear to make that happen. You will just have to do the best you can do. Pretty much like it always ends up being. No one Ever has all they need for video work. ?
  3. I am not too sure there will even be new m4/3 cameras in 5 years from now. Panasonic Knew they were going to build this S1 years ago. The trend is toward FF. Olympus is on thin ice money wise. Probably half the reason they didn't go in with Panny on the L mount, no money. They are losing money on every body they sell. So if they go belly up, and Panny keeps pushing FF who is going to keep m4/3 moving forward? m4/3 is Never going to catch up DoF wise, or DR wise. It is a loosing battle. And now that you can buy FF cameras for 2000 bucks who is going to pay 2000 bucks for a m4/3 camera? Only a few, and that don't pay the bills.
  4. Man you Need a Sony A7s using Slog 2. The DR on that G85 is just not going to get the job done. And if you light stuff it is not going to look realistic. All stage programs have crazy lighting challenges. But if you modify them they look like something that is not natural looking, foreign. That is sort of the draw of the Stage, it takes you somewhere that is not part of normal life, pretend stuff, dream like. And it is sort of done on purpose to draw your attention to the Actors, not the backdrops. The actors look more 3D. Lighting would ruin that effect. Think about it, bigger productions always have people up in the balcony, or a catwalk using lights, spotlights to highlight the actors. They are not lighting up the background. Maybe at most the areas where the actors are, but they rarely are at the back of the stage. I have been to a bunch of stage shows. I have no clue how you would be able to ever, with any camera, capture it like it is in real life.
  5. The water cooled GTX 1080 is not TOO terrible. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01KSE3VT4/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all
  6. This video is pretty good, and it shows how well the Wide DR thingy works. Pretty impressive. AF, eh not great, I think in better light it might work better? But it at least does have Continuous AF unlike the PK4..
  7. Yeah but there is a Ton of competition in the industrial segment because it has the potential of being a Huge, no expenses spared, cash cow. And to the average person a lot of the magic is of no actual need to them. I don't envy them now that stuff has dropped in price in the last year.
  8. Yeah all you need is about 50 times more of these, and employees that are good at roller skating for hot swapping out Hard Drives LoL.
  9. Yeah I don't see how they are going to sell many of them. The PK4 and the Sony A7 mk III have put a stake in the heart for a lot of things. Then add the X-T3, Z6 and wow. I was thinging yesterday that when X amount of people decide to dump their PK4's they are probably going to be selling for like 800 bucks. You really can't re sell the Studio dongle if you registered it, I don't think, and if I already have it I don't want the Dongle anyways. So you talk about driving the price down for stuff, Wow! So at 800 dollars for a used PK4 over a 2000 Dollar E2, man that is a hard sell, at least to me.
  10. https://***URL removed***/articles/0794343949/wto-looking-at-moves-to-remove-30-minute-limit-from-digital-cameras
  11. Yeah but to my eyes it looked like you would see it in real life on my calibrated monitor.. And the pans had almost no smearing, and the motion cadence looked pretty natural. Looks like a damn nice camera to me. A little pricey since the PK4 is out, but the 16 Stops with WDR sounds enticing as hell.. That is dream stuff for 2 grand. That is up there in Red, Arri territory!
  12. Well I will probably be dead by then. ? It will be amazing what will be out by then. I doubt you would even want the S1 even if it was free.
  13. Man I can't stop laughing at your Avatar LoL. Crazy stuff. It is damn distracting. I can hardy read your comments without staring at it. ?
  14. I doubt very few people on here are going to be able to afford the high end one one though. But yeah sounds like they are going All out.
  15. From BMD PDF file on the PK4. "Turning Your Camera On Now that you’ve attached a lens, you will need to supply power to your camera. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K can be powered by inserting an LP-E6 battery into the camera, or by plugging the supplied power adapter into the power input. Inserting a Battery and Powering your Camera Your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K uses standard removable LP-E6 type batteries. One is included with the camera, but if you need additional batteries, they can be purchased from your Blackmagic Design reseller or from most video or photography equipment stores. 1 On the underside of the camera, press the door release to open the battery door. 2 With the contacts facing the terminal, insert the LP-E6 type battery until you feel it click into place under the locking tab. TIP To release the battery, push the locking tab towards the front of the camera and the battery will eject. 3 Close the door to the battery terminal and gently push until it clicks into place. 4 Move the power switch on the top of your camera to the ‘on’ position. To turn off the camera, move the power switch to the ‘off’ position." It looks like the bottom of the camera body must be some Top Secret shit. I can't find a picture Anywhere.
  16. You just did that to impress the Girls LoL. Knowing you you probably had a BBC shirt on to have them think they were going to be on the evening news. ☺️
  17. Yikes not good. Yeah it looked pretty Mickey Mouse from the videos I have seen showing the latch.
  18. Well maybe it is the same sensor that is going to be in the Sony A7s mk III LoL ?. 3200 Dollars if we are lucky.
  19. Like I have said I would Never buy the PK4 as my Only system. It is quirky as hell for Normal use. The X-T3 for the money is nearly impossible to beat unless you are thinking about buying a bunch of lenses for it. I would buy maybe one fast prime and a reasonable smaller zoom and be done. I think I would wait on the Nikon, Canon cameras. They are their first attempts. They will get a lot better with time. The PK4 is a Cine camera, so you have to look at it that way. A person would not carry a C100, a Sony F3 around to just take kids, cat videos, or on vacation, at least very often LoL. Sure it is a pain, but it has the best output of nearly any camera we can afford, and it really is damn cheap to boot. And it has the Studio Resolve with it. I think Resolve is the future NLE down the road. Good time to learn it. I don't see how you can beat it for what we strive for on here.
  20. Wow wouldn't it be neat if Canon actually came out with a ass kicking camera, no holds barred. Just leading edge stuff, as good as they can do. Not holding off on Anything. They would own the markets if they did. I mean there is no one that doesn't like Canon CS and DPAF. And don't price it at 5000 dollars either like they are good at. Do it Canon.
  21. GH5 is not using some crazy high data rate codec either. It is along the lines of ProRes LT. And all the high end Sony's from the FS5 to the F55 use some version of XAVC Codec. Heck even the A7's use it. Different wrapper but. Even the new Sony Venice uses XAVC. At least they are consistent LoL.
  22. So what results do you think are way off? What website has realistic DR ratings in Video Mode? Surely you don't believe the Manufacturers Hype?
