Canon EOS R first impressions - INSANE split personality camera
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Heck the 1080p on the M50 is using DPAF and is as sharp as a Canon C100. And has a Flippy screen. I don't see why a person would pay the money for a EOS-R to be honest. Sure 4K is not so hot unless it is locked off, or has a Speedbooster on it. But for 1080p this thing is a poor mans C100 output wise. And for 500 bucks at times. https://www.canonwatch.com/canon-eos-m50-4k-vs-1080p-video-performance-review/ -
First test of Magic Lantern on the Canon EOS R by EOSHD and A1ex

I had to look that up. Hmm LoL. ? -
I always thought the Panasonic 20mm F1.7 was on the slow side focus wise? Great lens though. But I haven't used one on a newer body. By new I am talking GF1, GH2 stuff LoL.

Trouble is most PK4 stuff is in 4K, so it has no hope of looking like a OG one in that resolution. We need more 1080p, "Normal Speed", videos from the PK4 to compare.

They should of had one of those Mini SDI ports in it also. That type C USB is a disaster waiting to happen. They have no choice as far as I see it. Even a body the size of a GH5 is not going to be big enough for a FF camera doing Raw in 4K, let alone 8K. The days of a small video camera are done if they want to add what people are going to demand. This stuff is not going to stop next week. Hell we will have 16K down the road. Unless you want to have a 1080p camera only they are going to get bigger like it or not. They are running into the same problem Laptops are having. Bigger batteries, and bigger fans, bigger cooling tubes needed while the consumer wants a thinner body. Physics dictates that isn't going to happen.

Canon EOS R first impressions - INSANE split personality camera

Yeah now I remember that. So is there Any kind of AF in 4K with the M50? Speaking of the M50, what happened to Dave Altizer? He was hot on the M50. Andrew must have scared him away with that Video thingy. -

Tear down of the EOS-R. https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2018/10/teardown-of-the-canon-eos-r-mirrorless-camera/ -
Well one thing I think is clear with a push toward 8K they sure as heck are not going to do that in these small Mirrorless bodies without some major breakthrough. And I don't see that happening anytime soon. Especially with a push of having Raw in them to boot. So it seems they are going to have to go to small Cine camera bodies with a Fan to do it. Might be the hangup with the Sony A7s mk III. Not counting a Way bigger battery needed to make it all work. Sony particularly it seems to me is going to Have to up size as they say, or just be stuck with overheating like crazy.

Are cameras without IBIS and AF useless for shooting video in 2018?

That a slider look can be pretty neat. It is pretty good doing that. -
Interesting video on the Squarefronts. https://nofilmschool.com/2016/07/lens-pro-go-demonstrates-lomo-square-fronts-all-their-glory

Is your C Fast card Fast enough for Raw in the PK4? All 10 seconds of it.

Canon EOS R first impressions - INSANE split personality camera

That comparison is sort of embarrassing for the EOS R. Throw a Speedbooster on the M50 and is would be even better at low light and DoF. Not sure how the AF would suffer though? -

Yeah I have two good monopods and the times where they really work out on the video side is about zilch! Sure on the Photo side, but you might as well leave them at home for video. And the ones with legs, ain't no way you are just going to even bend over to look in your camera bag with a video rig hanging off of it. Impossible to pan even with a Fluid Head on it. Jerky as hell on average. Sure you can luck out once in awhile with one, but why bother. Just too limiting. You have to have one hell of a good, heavy tripod to get video stuff to work. Like a Monopod is going to work like a charm. Yeah maybe leaning back against a concrete wall holding one, but how often that going happen LoL. And you are allowed to just bring the legs together on a real tripod and use it as a pretend Monopod. -
Just carry an Anvil around with you LoL.

Yes they are. Ain't cheap to own a PK4 in the short run. And that card is on sale! You can pay more money for the media you Need than you paid for the damn camera. That is why I can't afford to buy it. ? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1090746-REG/lexar_lsd256crbna10002_pro_1000x_uhs_2.html?sts=pi

Read the comments by a person named ZM. He knows his stuff about sensors unlike 99% of every other poster on there.
