Nikon Z7 is at EOSHD HQ - better video than Sony?
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
My man has a new funny ass video up. I think we are all guilty, especially me LoL. -
What you still can't hardly get a Nikon D850 new?? Heck even a used one is only 175 bucks cheaper than new at around 3200 bucks! Interesting. The Z7 is only a few bucks more. I would think the Z7 is probably the better camera even for photos? Maybe not sports but.. But then you would use the Nikon D5.
-
No, it should be the camera you want is probably 2 to 3 times the money you Really need LoL. There is not one of these new cameras that can do really anything much better than a camera that is 4 or 5 years old.
-
It cost around 5000 dollars. 16mm. But that was in 1987 dollars.
-
Maybe for Photos. Video I Seriously doubt that.

I have two of them but I would Not recommend Anything Manfrotto anymore. Their overall quality has gone way down hill. I like Vinten stuff better than any. And what is Really crazy Vinten owns them now. I guess it is their cheap ass line I don't know. Manfrotto just tends to cheapen it by 20 percent and it ends up frustrating as hell. They have the right ideas, they just half ass everything as of late. Piss poor engineering, and half ass quality control. They used to be built like a tank, quality stuff.

Well at $11,295.00 I can't say I have tried one LoL. I would be afraid to even Hold it at a camera store!

This camera, the Z7 also cost $3,396.95. More than Twice the price of a Fuji X-T3. More than Half again as much as a Sony A7 mk III. Out of the reach of a heck of a lot of people. But I do realize it is their top end Mirrorless unlike the Canon EOS R is. Yes the Sony A7r MK III is up there also, as I am sure the new A7s mk III will be also. Then there is the Sony A9, Gulp! But way cheaper than a true Cine camera, and if you are making a living with it, it is peanuts with the write offs you get. -
If you Really, Really believe in the product you are selling whether it is physical, a vacuum cleaner, or yourself, a damn good tailor, it is easy as heck to talk people into it. You believe and they believe, bingo they are hooked. They are happy and you are happy.

GH4 is about the cheapest way you can go.

Wow the original BMPCC is just crazy good. I am amazed every time I see someone with skill on the output. Well done. And Wow that little girl is scary good also LoL. She is really in tune with the music. Great choreography. That plugin looks like Adobe only.. Not happening for me. I do Resolve only as of late. Cheap ass I know, but.. LoL.

Well in reality we are going backwards. Maybe not a bad idea in reality. Bu it is a total re adjustment to what most young people were raised and taught to do. So in the transition time things are going to get ugly. It is going back to Medieval times of just the rich, a few, and the poor, a Lot of them LoL. Not really progress, just an experiment that went very wrong!

Yeah I am not sure how that really works. It is complicated. I am sure Jon knows more about it than I do. I only use Vimeo, as it seems to show better results. But exposure wise for hits, likes, Vimeo is not the place to go. Not anymore.

I have not seen Any of the new offerings, even this new Canon EOS R, have what I would call dependable AF in Video mode, none. And I would say the Fuji is the worse of the bunch for AF, dependable AF. Sure the Panasonic sucks also. I am sure with some firmware updates Canon will get it figured out. Even the Nikon is great at Times, But to depend on it. Nah not me. Once I see a few niggles in a film where the AF is off I spend the rest of the film looking for it to happen, and not even pay attention to the plot. It is disturbing as hell to see crappy AF. Just terrible. I would trust an old C100 mk II, or a 1DX mk II better than these new cameras. Heck the Sony A7 mk III seems better than this last batch of cameras for AF. I am not impressed from what I have seen. Will they get better with updates, I am sure they will Try.

I don't know.So many young people iI know just seem to be depressed as hell. Wasn't that way when I was young. And it is because Nothing is easy today unless you are just lucky as heck. I know you can make yourself lucky but man, it is pretty unpredictable now, and that is what is bad. I heard something I think is crazy is that by 2030 40% of the people in the USA will be self employed! Hell that vast majority of people are not made to lead, most normally are followers. And that is the way it Should be. You can't have too many chiefs and not enough Indians as they say. If that is true God help 50 % of them. They will be worse off than before. Bankrupt and depressed even more. Running a business is nerve racking, you are never relaxed, have time for nothing, family or friends way to live. It is a FULL time job 7 days a week. Yeah that ought to all work out well LoL. I hope like heck that is not true. It will be Really ugly.

Yeah but 4K down sampled to 1080p is the hot setup. That is what makes the C100 shine. I still think Really nice looking 1080p is here to stay for a really long time. Every little bit helps. 4K and 10 bit doesn't always equate to a heck of a good look output wise. It has to have Mojo like the original BMPCC or the C100. Not every camera not matter the specs looks great. Sony A7s has great 1080p. The A6300 sucks at 1080p. Some cameras are just magic, most aren't. I am not too sure about the PK4 yet. Heck it ought to work somehow pretty well. It has the Codecs to do it, does it have the Mojo it needs? I have not seen it in spades yet.

Pretty good summary from B&H about fast glass. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/amp/photography/buying-guide/the-fastest-glass-money-can-buy

Mildly successful blogger, you should be so lucky. You Have to compete. You think someone is going to give you something in this day and age just because you are a nice guy. Hell 1/3 of young people still live at home. If it was easy they would all be living in a great home with a picket fence, a new car in the driveway. You are competing with the whole world now, not Bob down the street. I think you are wanting something that is long gone. There aren't 600 book authors now, there are Millions of them, so average skill is below average now. You have to be Casey Neisat hungry now to make it. He is not alone trust me. Yeah Vimeo is full, full of a lot of people that can make shit happen. You have to get hungry, mad as hell, try anything, not hope the tooth fairy shows up. Hell you had to be that way when I was young to really make it in a reasonably big way. But it is a Hell of a lot harder today. I see some really ugly things that are going to happen down the road. This globalization stuff has leveled the playing field. There is no place for people to hope stuff happens, you have to Make it happen, and keep that pace up for the rest of your life. I don't envy anyone that is young in this day and age that doesn't have an inborn drive to succeed. A big time drive.

You Tube and Vimeo reach the most people in the world that might look at what you create. If you can't get traction on there with some kind of Blog I just don't see it happening anywhere, anyhow. You can't get anymore eyeballs looking at your stuff than on there. Instagram is more Young teenage girls than anything. Now if that is your audience go for it. Nobody gets famous on Facebook. If you can't come out with something interesting at least once a week on You Tube, whether it is just you as a talking head, or a new video than it Ain't never going to happen. With all the cheap, pretty good video cameras out, there are 1000's videos a day made around the world, some shorts, that might be pretty damn good. You Have to be better than they are. Not saying you aren't, but you have to produce a great product, a great experience or it isn't going to work. It's a Whole new world out there now. Tons of competition now. It isn't for the meek.

Really other than the new PK4, none of the new FF cameras, and the Fuji have added Anything to talk about over what a GH5 has had 2 years ago. And most of them have a Hell of a lot less features. And now you can buy a used GH5 cheaper than any of the new cameras, even the PF4. Interesting. We really haven't gained crap other than some pretty nice options on the PK4, Raw in particular, the the C port, and the mini XLR is nice also. Oh and the menus are damn nice also on the screen. Other than the Fuji X-T3 for photos I don't see hardly Any edge for film making on the Canon, or Nikon, Fuji offerings over the GH5, GH5s.
-
Yes he makes a very lot of good points in that video. We sort of take it for granted. But the GH5, GH5s are one hell of a good film making tool for the money.

Out of likes. Yeah to me it is just about the least effort other than the lenses they could have done. If it had IBIS and no crop, or say a 1.3 crop well sure, but what a let down for Canon shooters. And $2,299.00 to boot. At the least bring out the high end one at the same time, and not some goofy 4000 plus dollar thing. They just seem clueless to me. This puts them pretty much dead last on all the new stuff that has come out.
-
Out of Likes. Yeah really good stuff. Makes it a lot more personal.
