Not in this day and age to me they are. I have like 15 lenses. None of them are a 50mm or equivalent. Sure 20 years ago it sort of was in favor. A 35mm, 50mm is to me a total waste of space in a camera bag.

I don't care what most of them do. Some of them are going to be screwed. There is no room for all these camera company's anymore. Just about all of them now have the same stuff in them, and what is missing is of no real concern to 99% of the people in the world. Sure we want 10 bit, 98% of the people don't even know what the hell that means. I have no clue how they are Ever going to sell all this stuff, or even who the hell needs most of what is in them. Like everyone is going to buy Resolve and edit all their stuff, and Vlog? Their phone does all most every thing they need. These camera company's are living on borrowed time in a dream world.

I am amazed camera company's even make any cameras anymore. They ought to be making Smartphones. Like I said in a thread a few weeks ago. I live in a small College town and I am the Only dumb bastard that even has a real camera in the whole up town square. Even when their parents come they have Smartphones. When I set up my rig on a tripod I feel like I am some person in the old west when he set up a 8 x 10 View Camera 150 years ago LoL. I draw a crowd, I really do. People are interested, but they sure as hell are not going to go out and buy a real camera I can tell you that.

Yeah other than DoF control Needing a fast lens for low light is a thing of the past anymore with most newer cameras. And even f 4.0 is not too shabby on a FF camera DoF wise. Why haul around a heavy big lens unless you are doing some damn specific shots. And then you need to be on a tripod locked off to ensure it is in focus to hit the mark. You aren't hand holding a f 0.95 lens and hoping it gets the shot! Also you would have to be in a coal mine or have ND's to stay with the 180 rule. But nobody ever said video was cheap or easy to do. ? -
Kind of a dumb focal length to spend all that money on. Years ago that was a pretty normal lens length. But now, hmm, it would be about the last lens I would buy for a kit. It is not wide enough, not long enough. I don't get it?
-
Boy that person got their money's worth out of that slider and zoom lens. Christ I need Daramamine!
-
Wow this thing can really take great DoF photos. https://www.newsshooter.com/2018/09/30/michael-cioni-gives-his-thoughts-on-reds-hydrogen/

That would be a pretty tough test on Any camera. Actually not too bad. Desirable well no, but common, yes...

I don't know if this has been shown??

Lot of good info in this video. The woman knows her stuff. I didn't know the lens is removable on the Black!
-
Yeah that may be awhile before that happens. The EOS R mk III will be out by then!
-
Man that thing is getting harder and harder to not buy it. I have not seen any really bad footage out of it. Is it a Arri, well no, but it sure beats any smartphone stuff I have seen. I guess the one downside is any real ability to have a telephoto lens of sorts. It is really only go wide or go home LoL. But for travel stuff that is really a pretty good way to go.
-
I see a Speedbooster in your future LoL..Ahh hell, it's only money.
-
You guys are crazy as hell, but I have known that for awhile LoL. ?
-
Yeah but you can't use it with the R lenses. Kind of stupid in the long run.
-
Where does it say that? Every camera does Raw., even a iPhone. Every Cine camera that I can think of is pretty much a Mirrorless camera in the modern era. PK4 is mirrorless.
-
"Blackmagic told us that Blackmagic RAW will be coming to the BMPCC 4K at some stage, but it won’t be in there when the camera first ships. It is also very likely that over the next 6 months or so that we will see Blackmagic RAW being implemented into other companies cameras. Blackmagic have said that they are very open to letting just about anyone use Blackmagic RAW as opposed to making it a closed system." From this article at the bottom. https://www.newsshooter.com/2018/09/15/blackmagic-raw-explained-ibc-2018/

Yeah but down the road braw might be on damned near every camera since it is free, and a open Codec.
-
This camera is really only going to work well on a tripod. And I seem to be one of the few on here that does use a tripod. So I just see it as a OK I bought one and I really don't like it camera, even for most of the people on here, let alone the rest of the people. I see it as a niche from hell, that most people will say down the road, Yeah I HAD one of them. It is just like the Original BMPCC, sure everyone on here Had one, but who still uses it or even still owns it! Sure it is a great camera, but it is a pain in the ass to use, and that equates to not something you just grab and go shoot with.
-
Does the EOSR have a s35 mode? If so put a Speedbooster on it and call it a day. Ehh no IBIS, your still screwed LoL. Just buy a Sony A7 mk III and be happy.
-
Yeah I think the real true gain with the PK4 is the Raw, and the new BRaw. But that is a pain in the ass, so I doubt many people are going to make that their #1 Codec. Sure the UI and screen is nice, but in bright light it doesn't seem to be so hot, and you can't move it around to avoid it. And now you can buy a GH5 for not a lot more money than the PK4. I think for the average person what you give up is not worth it. I just don't see it as a camera that you would really use that much. Sure would be nice to have it when you do need it though. There will be some good buys on it used down the road. I don't see tons of people keeping it to be honest.

Yeah face detect, eye detect has really changed the way a person can stage shots now. It opens up a lot more natural flowing scenes compared to the blocked off stuff you sort of had to do in the past. Is it fool proof no, but it certainly adds to a persons tool kit that is for sure. Yeah no continuous AF is sort of a bummer in this day and age even for a Cine camera. DPAF has shown what really is possible, and even Sony has pushed it pretty far with their cameras on tracking. And add this new Canon QPAF maybe coming out soon, wow how good maybe it can be?
-
Well it does work on a Panasonic camera, but on the PK4, hmm I really don't know. Good question.
