Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
webrunner5 replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
They left them because they had No Mirrorless FF bodies. Not because it was necessarily m4/3 in my opinion. My sons 5D mk III to me is just a turd size wise compared to my A7s in hand. I don't care how good the Canon is in ML, I Don't want to shoot with it. And the GH5 is just not good using AF. I could not deal with that. But sure there are real benefits to m4/3. But I think the weight saving are not as big as you think unless you are talking 200mm lenses or longer. There are some really small FF bodies out. My A7s weighs almost nothing even compared to my Oly EPL1. Sure it's lighter, but unless I am going to climb Mount Everest, I am not!, it is a pretty irrelevant difference to be honest. And these new plastic bodied lens really don't weigh that much for FF mirrorless cameras anymore. Sony has Really changed what a FF camera can do, and how small that stuff can get. And now Canon, Nikon people can enjoy it also. -
I don't see that ever happening on a mirrorless. Shutters are way too fragile to have a camera do that. Here is a link with 4 views instead of just one of the new Canon Mirrorless EOS R. https://***URL removed***/forums/post/61587610?image=0

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

You sound like someone that is 30 years old. There was no such thing But FF on film cameras, other than a few odd duck ones, for 75 years. Older people are Used to that size. It has the best quality. And older people can afford them. The smaller cameras don't fit the average American's hands very well. They have way more MP. Every camera manufacturer has one or is making one. There is a ZERO trend of making cameras small anymore. There is no market for them now. I can see m4/3, I have had a bunch of cameras with that mount. Even my AF100 used it, BMPCC i had. even this New PK4 has it. But I just like the look and versatility of FF Mirrorless. Now I will admit I DON'T want a FF DSLR anymore. I toy with the idea of going back to it. But when I pick up my A7s which is just as small as nearly any m4/3 camera, I just can't go back. There is more 35mm FF used lenses out there than anything else. There is a Different look, a look you can't get in m4/3 like @Oliver Daniel says. -

Well seeing how you can't even get a A7 mk III hardly anyplace I am not surprised about that statement. And some that do have it mark it up to 2400 bucks. -

How many people you really think are going to buy a GH5 over a FF EOS R, Z6, A7 mk III?? About 22 people on here, that's all there will be. There is probably less than 5% of people actually take video even remotely serious. The vast majority of people could give a Rats Ass about super video features, or any video features at all.. Heck of a lot of people wish they sold cameras with NO video at all in them. -

Yeah it is saying 4K but no specs on it.

This thing is going to be a Cine camera so it doesn't really matter what mount it has. It will be 5000 bucks or more. Probably 10,000 bucks or more. -
It looks like it may be a function dial like the Nikon Z lenses have on the back that you can program for different functions. Unless I missed it I don't see a Joystick anywhere on it? That seems like a odd thing to not include unless that rocker switch is suppose to function like one among other usues??
-
Yeah I have a EF to E FotoDiox ND Throttle I use on my A7s. It work amazingly well for what you can get them for now. But it is mentioning Drop in Filters. That would not be some twist a dial thing like the FotoDiox ND Throttle.

Yeah you have made some bad decisions as of late. ? -
Sure there are good and bad ones. But I am going to have to see better rating than it gets before I spend 500 bucks.

Well I know it is not a lot of help now, but I Always look at Amazon reviews on anything I think about buying. And the reviews for the Moza Air are not so hot, actually Really bad. It may Never work well. https://www.amazon.com/Handheld-Stabilizer-Mirrorless-Panasonic-1-1Lb-7Lb/dp/B01M2BLQFE

Well that is pretty much the main reason you pay the big money. To have a fast as heck, deep DoF lens. If you want to close it down there are plenty of good cheap f2.8 lenses that look good wide open. Easier to make them good at that aperture wide open.

Do you really think the vast majority of people even know Panasonic Makes cameras? They have done a Terrible job of market advertising, presence in box stores here in the USA. If they went out of business here hardly anyone would notice. They don't even sell many TV's here anymore. Hell maybe none? "TOKYO (Reuters) - Panasonic Corp on Tuesday said it will close its unprofitable television screen manufacturing business, leaving Sharp Corp as Japan's sole TV panel maker. A Panasonic spokeswoman said the company will stop producing TV screens at its plant in Himeji, western Japan, by the end of September.May 31, 2016". Doesn't look too good does it. -

Well I would say when Anyone thinks about a camera, the word Canon is probably going to be the name that pops up first. They have a lock on photo cameras when it comes to perception of what is good. If they load this new camera up with features people really want, not what Canon wants to give to protect their Cine line, they will not be able to make them fast enough. They pretty much right now have a once in a lifetime opportunity to just about lock up both DSLR, and Mirrorless sales. Man they could hit the jackpot here if they are smart. -

If Canon has the nerve to come out with this EOS R that has pretty good 4K video with no crop, or a damn minimal one, with a full sensor read out, even a better DPAF, IBIS in it it will be game over for every one of them. Canon is the 800 pound Gorilla like them or not. They have the potential to just pretty much shut all these camera down sales wise. Even the Sony A7s mk III. -
How is the Surf Dude??

This comparison about Data rates to me is even more telling. To the average person they would not see the difference between 144 mbps, or heck 12 mbps. Probably a reason the original C100 looks so good at 25 mbps.
-
No I don't feel threatened at all. I probably are not going to buy either one. The Sony will be too damn expensive and replaced in a year by a cheaper model that does 90% of what it does so why bother. And I don't think I like the look of the output on the PH4, at least not as of yet. But I would bet it is a better film making machine for a hell of a lot less money. And don't give me that adapter crap. Sony doesn't have a native lens worth a shit for video other than 2 Cine lenses that we would have to win the Lotto to buy, even thorough they are sort of a bargain. And any adopted Cine lens is not going to have OIS or AF in it, other than those 2 Nice Sony Cine lenses.. Sure it will be a damn good camera, but it isn't going to be as great now I think for it's intended target audience like the original A7s was. I don't need all that wiz bang stuff for video. The original BMPCC makes it look like sort of weak, and it has about 3 help aids on the whole camera But other than low light it has a better output. Is the BMPCC a pain in the ass to use, sure. But video IS a pain in the ass no matter what you have. This PK4 is making all these camera company's look like they are ripping our ass off on cost. And I think they are if this new A7s is 3500 bucks, and the Nikon Z7 will be just as bad, along with the new Canon high end one.. If they cost that much they had better be the best thing since sliced bread.
-
Well why don't you just fill us in on some juicy new footage or info on the PK4. Hell I got all kind of time to watch. Hmm, not much to see Yet, so, so, hmm I thought so. Or we could just sit here for a week until the next Video shows up and be stuck at ONLY 172 pages busting with total BM news. I think the subject applies to the new and old BM stuff. I don't like the direction it seems to be going. How about you!! You like the Old or New stuff. Oh BM stuff, to stay on point.
-
I bet if you want 10 bit you will Need a recorder. Why even buy it. Put a Speedbooster on the PK4 and you are damn near FF for a lot less money. And I would argue a better output probably. You don't really need AF and IBIS do you. And it has push AF. You aren't that old yet are you LoL.
