Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Sure 10 bit is better than 8 bit, but wouldn't it be sort of nice if they Kicked up the mbps a little to take advantage of it? But I will admit the 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output is pretty nice for an affordable FF camera, but I just wish it was internal, not a external recorder requirement. And now it will force Sony to go10 bit also, but I would guess the Sony A7s mk III will be 10 bit also. Maybe even 4k 60p. But probably not internal unless they make a bigger body or add a fan, ehh equals a bigger body LoL. Interesting times no doubt. But they are out of my income bracket by the time you buy a body, new lenses, a new recorder, a better computer to even edit it, on and on. A BMPCC is looking better every day LoL. 325 bucks on ebay with Cage And D-Tap!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMPCC-With-Cage-And-D-Tap/173480066730?hash=item286437beaa:g:KR8AAOSwx0ZbeFYQ Color Depth10-bit (HDMI) 8-bit (internal) Max Bitrate (MBps)100Mbps Video CodecsMPEG-4, H.264 -
And one reason I think more people will have better results with this new BM PK4 than buying a FF camera that shoots great video. AF, even manual focus is damn hard to do right on a photo, let alone on a 5 minute short or longer. There IS a reason they have Focus Pullers, and do 20 takes LoL.

Yeah but Sony has had that thingy where you can use all the A camera lenses, and all the old Minolta lenses, and every odd ball manufacturer, including Sears that made lenses for Minolta cameras. It not like Nikon has invented the wheel like everyone seems to think on here. Sure it is a nice product, but earth shaking new stuff, Nah. What 10 bit in a video camera, and it is not in, it's out, Come on. That is not new. Hell the cheap ass PK4 is going to beat that stat, and have Raw to boot. Several Panasonic cameras do 10 bit. Old news. I am impressed with both of the Nikon Z's. But super impressed, well I guess we will have to wait for some real tests. I don't own one Nikon lens so I am not a buyer as they say. -
Well I am sure it does matter. Did you see the data rate I posted in the Blackmagic PK4 thread? Guess what the 1DC is pushing as much data as the Ursa is in 4K Raw! Now it is not the same Bit Rate, it is 8 bit, but still probably the main reason it looks so good, well Canon CS is pretty good also LoL. I don't know why you just don't buy the EF 40mm f2.8 and be done with it. That lens on your 5D mk III won't stand out anymore than a any normal camera, even a m4/3. That focal length is all a person needs for 90% of photography and damn near that for video. 44, 45mm is sort of the focal length our eyes see, and I have found if it appeals enough to me to shoot it why am I going to make it say a 20mm lens length? I don't see 20mm, now maybe field of view I do but I don't want to see people, trees as small as Piss Ants in shots I take LoL. https://www.amazon.com/Canon-40mm-2-8-STM-Lens/dp/B00894YP00

I think what is pretty telling to me on the shots where you have all four cameras the LX100, at lest to me, is the sharpest one of the four to read that writing on the bottom of that mailbox. That is pretty crazy when I think about it. Wow this thread is moving faster than I can type LoL.?

I don't think I would go that far LoL. But I think a lot of that stuff is not in Vogue like it was back in the 40's, 50's films, crash zooms and all. A little bit of that gets pretty old pretty quick, at least to me, and it looks a bit copy cat also. But it does set up who you are Hoping the audience accepts as you main point of Focus, pun there, and draws their attention to it. They sell fast lenses for more reasons than low light I can tell you that, and it is one of the main reason FF video cameras now are all the Rage.

From a News Shooter article. At the very bottom in the comments. They were shooting a 82 ft wide screen in 5.4k. https://www.newsshooter.com/2017/06/13/why-shoot-raw/ jpgentry • a year ago Did you consider the URSA 4.6 RAW 4:1 for your shoot at the zoo? • Ben Allan Acs jpgentry • a year ago Yes, that was my original plan. When we tested it we found that it was just possible to see some artifacts with the extreme size. For everything up to 4k cinema though, 4:1 should be fine. So I guess It isn't going to be a Arri Alexa SXT for 1299 bucks, or is it? ?

I don't think the difference is going to be too noticeable other than side to side. Sure Heavy VFX may suffer a bit, but yeah kind of sucks, but what other camera can we afford that even does 4K Raw that is modern! Yeah when you see a video like this all shot on a 1DC sure makes you want sell a Kidney LoL.

Yeah if a person is into photos more than video the Olympus EM1 mk II has to be a no brainier. The weather sealing alone is a big plus, not counting OOC color is hard to beat also. And they have pretty much, other than Tilt n Shift, most all lenses covered. And even the video for the average person is really good enough. Yeah I really do miss my EM1.

I surprised how poor the DR is on the Quattro has compered to the Fuji. Yeah better detail, but at a loss of No detail at all in the shadows LoL, what shadows! And yeah the little LX100 is the true winner here overall, convenience and cost wise as you say. It sure is not shaming itself other than printing big.

You mean people actually Still use an Adobe product!! I think Premier will pretty much always be behind performance wise. The coding was done years ago in a different world then, and there is no way they can, or will re write all new code for modern computer configs. Sure they tweak it, but that is about all they can do. But it still is a viable product if you can stand the cost every month. But I agree with @wolf33d. I am concerned about ProRes Raw also being only usable in FCPX. I too am not going to buy a high dollar Apple, or learn FCPX just to do one damn flavor of ProRes. That is crazy. SO I guess I will never use it even if it is the next greatest thing since sliced bread. ?

Well they look good, but without some real tests I don't think I would go that far yet. -
They are almost making you buy Both of them LoL. I think it is pretty hard to pick absolute winner. I guess there might be enough "meat" to zoom in post though on the Pro.

Yeah but a lot of people made a lot of money shooting on one. They still have a pretty amazing output to this day. -

From the 1DC manual. "If you connect the camera to a TV set (zp.273, 276) and shoot a movie, the TV will not output any sound during the shooting. However, the sound will be properly recorded." Yep no sound. I always thought that was a WTF, in slow motion, looking to the side, moment. -
Probably not what you wanted to hear though. ?
-
I will give them credit for having that Ring on the lens you can assign different parameters to. Nice touch. But I can see you screwing up something also with it LoL. The old, for every action there is a reaction thingy.
-
I heard it is going to be more like 8000 bucks! Holy Smokes. 0.95 on a FF camera is well, well good luck. ?

It is a D mount lens. Nothing missing. I am sure it is a 8mm lens, like 8mm film lens. So pretty damn limited. https://www.ebay.com/itm/ZEIKA-Cine-Tele-F-1-8-1-1-2-1-5-38mm-D-Mount-Lens-8mm-Movie-Camera-Pentax-Q-/332739308958?oid=223039102548 This is a shot on a m4/3 and you can see it doesn't cover it. Not even close. I think you are limited to a BMPCC at best, or a Pentax Q, Oh Boy LoL. But they do have full HD video on the Q. ? https://www.shapeways.com/product/DSCYGUU7D/d-mount-to-micro-four-thirds-adapter

I have not seen as ugly stuff since Mini DV LoL. That is beyond ugly! Only good thing is I would imagine it Can be fixed in a Firmware Update. Surely they can back off the clampdown on the NR?
