Red has been pretty notorious through the years of just flat out giving DOP's, Directors cameras and lenses to use, sort of how Apple got their foot in the door in the industry. I am not saying they are bad cameras, just that they might not have been the desired choice without a little push by Red.

I thought at the roll out the CEO of BM was saying it would be free to anyone that wants it. I really don't forget much of anything I have read. More of a plague than a gift to be honest. I grew up with CinemaDNG, I don't find it that hard to do to be honest, but I have never had a camera that does BRAW. But if I bought a BMPCC 4K I would prefer the CinemaDNG one over the newer firmware with Braw. II have seen A to B Comparisions on the PK4 I like the CinemaDNG output. I have not seen many other Companys use BRAW on their cameras, so it makes me wonder if it really is better, and it is free versus paying Apple.

The free version of Resolve lacks very little compared to the paid Studio version. For someone new I doubt you would need what is missing.

Probably easiest to use for Slo Mo is a Smartphone. Better quality than the above video. Some are listed below. Some are using computational math to clean it up. I don't understand why they don't add it to mirrorless cameras. https://www.smartprix.com/bytes/best-phones-to-capture-slow-motion-videos/

They did that so they didn't have to keep paying for a CinemaDNG & Apple ProRes license also I would guess. Not sure the cost to do the Braw was cheaper than paying for the license, or if Braw is really better than CinemaDNG. Smaller files I guess would be one gain.

Oversaturated and no detail is two different things. I know you have one, like it I guess and are defending it, I get it, but if it was so great everyone on here would have one, or still have it, and the world would be perfect. Hey guess what the world isn't perfect and neither is the GH5. It has it's good points and bad points, color, AF and detail is it's bad points to me. I didn't like mine, I sold it, simple as that. Just because you like the videos above doesn't mean I have to. If you think that is the first trend like that there has been you must be 12 years old. Every new generation does stuff like that until they get older and figure out 12 people like it and they go broke doing it or show it to their dad and he disowns you and cuts you out of the will..

Not sure, Way out of my price range so haven't read much about it. Same with the Sony A1, I know nothing about it.

Yeah, but can you do it without a fan in the body. Once you add a fan the size and weight go up and you are back to dumb DSLR sizes.

Wow, when I see stuff like this, I need to find a new hobby lol. Never in a million years as they say. You have a gift.

Well, the New Olympus OM-1 does 12bit Raw to a Atomos. Better than nothing. https://www.cined.com/om-system-om-1-camera-released-4k60-10-bit-internal-video-12-bit-raw-output-new-lenses/

They need to license the damn thing, but then Red would lose its edge. I think they have now become the bad guy rightfully so, Raw is now the thing and 3/4 of the makers can't even adopt it. A bull shit move, I think.

You might be right about the colors more than the sharpness. Either way not a fan of it. It is just a dull blob. Really distracting. No clue why their cameras are so popular.

WHO AM I- "To the ends of time", an 8bit lover tells his story
webrunner5 replied to PannySVHS's topic in Cameras
Being a millionaire in California means you Just live above the poverty line in that state lol. It is sort of like living in a different world there. The USA is a pretty crazy country anymore state to state., -
Hmm I really liked the short, but still not a fan of the camera. MFT cameras on average to me just do not bring out far away background detail. I have a hard enough time at my age seeing detail lol, let alone seeing a camera that is not overall sharp. Yikes moment to me, maybe it is artistic to someone that can see. YMMV.

That is a very valuable statement to read for younger people. It is too late as you near old age, but yeah living in hate is a Really bad way to go through your life. You end up 50 at 30. You have killed yourself more than your enemy. Relax and smell the roses is a very good way to proceed. Time goes by scary fast, especially when you do realize your last drivers license photo makes you a candidate for a horror movie role. -

Yeah, if you are really great at something, no matter what it is, you can use the worse equipment out there and still be better than 95% of all the rest of the people with great equipment. I think a lot of us on here, me included, send a very bad message to the people that are starting up in video, even photography, that you have to have some big ass, high dollar camera to get the job done. That is about as far off as you can get from true. It is what is between your ears that count, not the gear. Slow and easy like I have said, with any gear you can afford. There is no such thing as a bad camera, even Smartphones in this day and age. When I was young, yeah you had to have a high end camera, especially for video, but the playing field is level now no matter the budget. -
Oh I think Ukraine has already won the war. Putin Really screwed up on this bone headed decision. Not sure Russia will ever recover from it, and Russia has lost the false narrative that their Army was strong and advanced. There will be more and more countries join NATO down the road and Russia will be boxed in forever. Putin has thrown all the people in Russia under the bus I am afraid. I think down the road Russia will even loose what it already had in Ukraine. They will be driven out.

Why Gerald Undone is wrong about the Sigma Fp-L
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The first picture in the album was taken with a Sigma DP1 I had. Red was sort of a tough color for them to reproduce, but it is close to what it was. It is of a 2008 350Z Nissan Nismo I had a few years ago. Only like 1400 of them in the whole world. -

Yeah, Sigma cameras have Always in some fashion been a total pain the ass to shoot. But out of the corner of your eye you look over and keep picking one up to use. Their output has always been, well different, but for the money the best you are going to get. Detail has always been their claim to fame. -
Someone could give you a Arri and you couldn't afford the media for it.
-
I am not sure Red has ever let anyone do their thing. There sort of locked in Redraw by patenting every kind of compression known to mankind and then some.
-
Maybe they are using some of the Smartphone tech that is out? It would be about time someone did it.
-
Pro Res Raw, that is an Apple thing, not Red thing. I would imagine Nikon is paying Apple a license fee to use it?
-
Lensbaby stuff is pretty crazy for MFT also. Trouble is you spend way too much time experimenting and not really accomplishing anything lol. Same for changing cameras a lot, never get anywhere.
