  1. Yeah with that combo you can even go the Sony A7s mk III route if it is a worthy camera. Good move I think. Sony stuff is just to hard to pass up on as of now.
  2. Pretty good side by side test. https://www.newsshooter.com/2017/03/13/are-the-new-breed-of-affordable-high-powered-led-fresnel-lights-up-to-the-task-we-test-the-rayzr-7-daylight-300-and-lupo-dayled-2000/
  3. Should have said Bit Depth, not Rate. But they kind of go hand in hand.
  4. I know a lot of people Hated the original A7s colors. I love them. They have a Grungy, Cine look to me. And I think they are easy on a woman's face and that to me is a plus. But on the other hand if I was doing Corporate Interviews, Doc work than that is where a Canon C100, C300 shines. I think it is more what you shoot determines the camera need. I personally think the new A7 mk III looks as Canonish as a Canon! They may have gone too far LoL. I don't think any one camera can do it all for all jobs. But it can become your signature look if you try, and I think that is what sets the big boys apart, Their look. And you can't keep switching cameras and Luts and keep that feel. And you can never get the best out of it unless you know it like the back of your hand.
  5. Oh well. http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/disney-rumoured-meeting-james-gunn-regarding-possible-reinstatement/
  6. I think a lot of it comes back to what they called the Thick Negative when I was young, and I guess it is a Thick Digital File today. It takes bit rate, high bit rates to make that happen. 12, 14, even 16 bit files. And I argue low ISO even if it can go high. And well it has to be exposed right or you have wasted your time. Sure more resolution doesn't hurt either. But I think it may at times look too good. 35mm film for photos really is not as much resolution as people think. Micheal at Luminous Landscape pegged it at around 6 to 7 mp. Basically a Canon 20D. Now I am not sure how it equates to movies resolution wise? The little BMPCC proves higher bit rates really work. Best bang for the buck I think ever made. I hope like heck this New PK4 continues the look it had, and has. It appears like it maybe a ton better in low light, but you still need lighting to set the mood, highlight stuff, or it just looks flat and lifeless. No 3D feeling to it even if you use shallow DoF. Yep a nice set of those old tungsten Fresnel units would sure add to the look that is for sure. But pretty hard to do all that stuff solo, especially Run n Gun, but we keep getting better, cheaper, lighter tools to try and get that "Thick Negative"a lot of us are looking for.

I think I did read some rumor that they might be doing Sony FE stuff heck over 6 months ago??
  8. Yes but aren't they really limited to slower shutter speeds. I mean like 1/2000th or less? Not too big of a problem for video, but for photos, not so hot. https://improvephotography.com/44427/what-is-a-leaf-shutter/
  9. Well I do agree with your statement, and interesting subject, but I doubt less than 1/10th of 1% of all monitors in the world are set to 24p even when editing, let alone viewing. Most You Tube content probably is not even shot in 24p, and just about every LCD panel in the world is doing 60 Hertz. Every gamer is at the least and hoping to do 120 Hertz if their GPU can hack it, you can bet on that. So I am sure in the high end part of it production, editing they do have 24 Hertz, 24p or at best using 48 Hertz or some odd ball thing. But does that equate to good footage when the "masses" are viewing at 60 Hertz. Seems like a disservice to them at best. Would seem like they need to slow down their pans a bit LoL. https://www.avadirect.com/blog/frame-rate-fps-vs-hz-refresh-rate/
  10. I really think it is a damn slippery slope that has already had repercussions for a few, and I bet won't be the last. I don't know the more I think about it the less I like the idea of ANY of it on here. A heck of a lot of people on here don't even live in this country, nothing wrong with that LoL, nice to have differing viewpoints, but hell it is hard to keep up with what is going on living here let alone for people having a honest, fair, informed assessment living from afar.
  11. Yeah most of the Middle America States, and income brackets falls into that category. And most of whatever has and is produced in this county heavy industry wise, even farming has been in the Middle States, and by a lot of Rednecks. And I am sure in most countries the Middle Class pretty much pays the way for the rest of society. Sure is that way here, but seem to be the less represented in reality. The old Squeaky Wheel thingy. That is what Trump plugged into was "Rednecks". Pretty broad term, but probably represents a lot of the middle class hourly workers in this day and age. And unfortunately there are not many jobs left for them now. So Yeah they get rowdy, but you would too if you were being ignored, doing most of the hard work, and basically paying the way for everyone else, and loosing ground more and more every day. Hardy a new concept in the History of the world..
  12. I have had one for years I used on my Sony A7r. I don't have any m4/3 lenses anymore to use on my A7s.
  13. I think the PMW F3 is a far better camera for nearly the same money. Heck Adorama had a F3 for like 775 bucks. https://www.adorama.com/us 1018391.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwkYDbBRB6EiwAR0T_-gfda0onpd5_BqiNOttXZz3lzZ9EwQZSYaHldHxvZDtz_FSGxsciNBoCelsQAvD_BwET They have a Panasonic AF100 for 625 bucks, and a Bunch of FS100's. But yeah Like I have said, really good 1080p, even 720p is still good enough for 95% or more of video needs.
  14. "However, in 1992 Apple Computer needed a method to transfer multiple streams of digital video without overloading the existing NuBus on the backplane. Apple and National Semiconductor (NSC) created QuickRing, which was the first integrated circuit using LVDS. QuickRing was a high speed auxiliary bus for video data to bypass the NuBus in Macintosh computers. The multimedia and supercomputer applications continued to expand because both needed to move large amounts of data over links several meters long (from a disk drive to a workstation for instance)." Wiki So it Ain't a new thing as they say.
  15. Yeah but isn't the C100 mk I even with the DPAF limited to just the central point for focus? That seems kind of limiting to me.
  16. Does it last for 4 hours or more? I know my battery grip for my Sony A7s is lucky to last 2 hours of shooting. Now in standby sure yeah, it goes 4, 5 hours. And I would imagine the PK4 is a power hungry camera. Might mean a "normal" camera could go 6 hours maybe? With that big screen and the fan going I don't see how it can't help but be.
  17. https://www.videoexpert.eu/en/blackmagic-cinema-cameras/core-swx-powerbase-edge-canon-lpe6/ 260,00 €, $304.15 United States Dollar
  18. You are going to have to explain that a lot more to me to even begin to guess what you are talking about?? ?
  19. I mostly follow RVers and Sail Boaters. They all seem to be pretty well educated, half well off people so I don't experience full a-hole people that comment on them. I really have a good friendship with everyone I follow and support. I am a RVer myself. So I like to read about, see new info that helps me both in equipment and travels. This is my 36" Winnebago and my K3500 Dually Pickup. Looking for a 32ish foot 5th Wheel now. Getting ready for winter to go South. Probably leave one down there I guess.
  20. I think a lot of this stuff here in the US is just a backlash against Trump. Seems mostly every women in America is pissed off about something, and young people are always pissed off but they have no clue why LoL. You can almost bet the farm a Democrat will win the White House and things will swing back the other way for 4 to 8 years, maybe longer, and then the other half will be pissed off, but I doubt to the extent that the Hollywood Crazies are now. It is like a Hornets Nest has been stirred up now. But we are not alone, seems like the whole world is crazy. ?
  21. Well when you deal with the public you have to be ready to take the heat. People in person are bad enough let alone on the Internet. That is why the vast majority of people like to work for someone else. I don't feel much sorrow for anyone on YT. No one held a gun to their head to do what they present. I Rarely ever comment other than to give someone a like. If I don't like them I just don't come back. Pretty easy solution. You Tube is now flooded with people trying to make a buck. The best rise to the top until they screw up, and then some other person takes their place like monkeys climbing a tree. Nothing new under the sun as they say.
  22. Working fast like this video. Wow I would jump off the roof if I had to work that fast every day.
  23. See right there I said the Only one that will probably work. I am done with you. You called me a liar.
  24. And I think half of them will go out of business trying to do it LoL. But you're right they have to I guess. Trouble is there is not room at the top of the pile for 6 or more manufacturers building FF cameras, especially with Sony supplying most of the sensors, and bragging they will be number 1 by 2021! That is only 3 years from now! And that article is Only 3 months old! And Sony knows who is building what Way ahead of when we know. They are building the competitions' Sensors! They have the camera industry right by the you know what. ? https://***URL removed***/news/7644501156/sony-reveals-camera-strategy-aims-to-be-the-top-camera-brand-by-2021
  25. The Olympus EM1, mk II takes weather sealing to a whole new level. On the web there is a video by Blunty using it in a tub of water! Yeah my A7s, I don't like wiping it off with a damp cloth!
