  1. So you are advising a guy to pass on a NX1 with a 18-55mm kit lens which cost 600 USD!! That is half price!
  2. Yeah I have one of these Gimbals below in the link, which I Highly recommend it, I got it one I was using the Canon 1D mk II N and the 1D mk III with a EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L using a 1.4x extender at times with it, so I really don't have a problem with the weight of a lens other than carrying it to the setup area. But yeah if I was going back into it big time I would buy the EM1 mk II and the 100-400mm. That would be a no brainer for me. One thing I Love about the EM, EM1 mk II is they can use the old Olympus Four Thirds lenses and they really work well on them. There is some Real bargains using them and they are built like a tank. And damn they are super good sharpness wise. I had the 50-200mm, and the 12-60mm. Both crazy good. https://www.adorama.com/svskgh02.html https://www.amazon.com/Olympus-Digital-EZ-5020-2-50-200mm-f2-8-3-5/dp/B000XCMGMA/ref=sr_1_55?ie=UTF8&qid=1532483428&sr=8-55&keywords=Olympus+four+thirds+zoom+lens https://www.amazon.com/Olympus-12-60mm-2-8-4-0-Digital-Cameras/dp/B000XCQ0LI
  3. Holly crap that is really cheap. That would be tempting for even me. But the best lens to have for them is the 16-50mm f2.8, but is is expensive as heck, no surprise. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-16-50mm-2-0-2-8-Camera-Black/dp/B00HV6KMQ8
  4. Oh I was kidding about the NX1, it is a great camera. But it is not really supported anymore, probably will Never be a followup to it, so it is sort of a dead end system. I really don't think a person should put much money into it. So yeah if you can buy one cheap with the lens cheap, heck sure it will make some beautiful stuff at lower ISO's. It has some really nice features and the output is darn good. I mean you can take really great video with a Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It is about skill more than gear. And the only way you gain skill is going out and shoot, no matter the camera used. Now one thing I am not sure about is can you adopt say a old Nikon MF lens, a EF lens, Pentax, on and on like you can on the Sony A7 stuff?? The NX1 users will have to chime on on that question. If you can't that is a Hell of a negative over the Sony stuff.
  5. Hell I can probably put a Arri Alexa on my Shoulder, Can't be as big as ENG cameras. But to say it is convenient or manageable solo, well sure a person can do anything if you want, but some ideas are, well, silly.a Like I said, on a Tripod it is a great camera for the money, not a fan of the color science in camera, but this is a whole new world of video since that camera came out. And yeah I love Cine Cameras layouts also, but at my age, and being a man, how I look, it ain't happening anymore unless I want to take shots of trees in a corn field! No kids there I hope.
  6. You know they were not as bad as you would think to have on your shoulder for long periods of time. They were really balanced well. It is Really rare to ever see shaky footage from one, and a hell of a lot of it was walking backwards!
  7. The Red MX?, wow I always wanted one. Not sure about now, but it would be a damn good learning tool, and I would imagine it still gets the job done if you aren't in a hurry..
  8. Hmm, what about a Sony RX10 series camera? The RX10 mk II and up.
  9. I am sort of embarrassed to be seen with my Sony A7s on my Tripod and Manfrotto 502 fluid head combo. It looks like a peanut on it. Kind of overkill. I guess I will have to take @mercer advice and buy a C100 to sit on it!
  10. If you buy a NX1 you will join a select few crowd on here of Maybe 2 people crazy enough to still have one, let alone use it LoL! ? Buy the A7 mk III. ? And "Unlike some cameras, there is no Intra frame (ALL-Intra) mode, however the NX1's HDMI port can stream clean, uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 4K video. You cannot however internally record and stream 4K simultaneously. When recording 4K to the memory card, HDMI output is limited to 1080p, and when streaming 4K you cannot record internally". Imaging Resorce.
  11. Well you can do some amazing stuff with a Monopod. And yeah, it is probably Never going to be still like a tripod. I have one of those Manfrotto ones with a trigger on the shaft that you can change height in a heart beat. Not the newer one worth the feet on it. I am not sure I would ever trust a Monopod to stand there with 3 grand of stuff hanging on it LoL. But if I had to do it over again I would buy one with the feet. It came be a lot more stable like the bottom video shows. This video shows what you can do and this other one also. There is even more you can do. Just look up more videos on the subject.

    All things RAID

He is not kidding about the noise and heat also. A few years ago my son and I had like 4 servers running 24/7 in a spare bedroom. I am talking the big ass rack mount ones. The IBM ones we had had 16 fans each in them. There had to be 50 fans going at once, and they all had 7200 rpm SCSI drives in them also, 6 in each of them, not counting our Normal computers in there. It was pretty damn intense to say the least. You did not talk on a cell phone in there I can tell you that, or need to turn the heat on in that room in the winter. The electric bill was pretty intense also! ? I like Raid 10 and Raid Raid 50 the best. But it takes a lot of drives to do Raid 50. But Raid 5 is a good one also. None of them is fail safe. And you need hot swap drives to be even safer. I don't ever want to shut off a Raid configuration if I am having problems. It may never be able to get to the boot sector on a re start! And then as they say, you are in deep Do Do. Even a limping drive is better than, a holly crap, no drive detected warning one! I don't know, it might just be cheaper and safer to put all your data on 4K Blu Ray disks and be done with it. Lot safer media to archive with. They have like a 2200 year shelf life! They have 100GB ones out.
  13. I hope those prices @Django quoted from Nikon Rumors includes a lens, or they are dead in the water to start with.
  14. True, I would totally agree with your statement. But it is really Only good siting on a Tripod rigged the way it needs to be. I can't picture it on a Gimbal I could ever afford. So that is pretty damn limiting in this day and age compared to what the P4K should be able to do, even if the AF is crap. So in essence you are going back in time, I am not to sure that is a good idea for Me on my limited income. But if you are into Slo Mo, I am not very often, well I can't argue against the FS700. It is the best at it that we could ever afford. And it does it damn well to boot.

    Lenses

At 400 dollars versus 1200 dollars I would hope it is LoL. But yeah Olympus did a great job as usual, If you can afford them, they are the way to go no doubt. But if you want that MF Clutch, which is almost a necessity for Video, you better have a Visa Platinum card that you haven't maxed out for a pair of those gems!
  16. Yeah we are breaking the rule of "Never talk about Politics and Religion". It is a no win situation that only pisses the other side off.Yeah we need to talk about Video cameras not this subject. This thread is a time bomb waiting to go off. Not good. I am done with it.
  17. I was thinking the same thing. I don't care how good a writer, producer, directer, DoP is they get stale doing the same thing over and over. Disney was probably looking for new blood and this was an easy out to get rid of him, and rightfully so..
  18. Here you go. I think this guy is one F ing sick puppy to be honest. He is a creepy bastard, I don't give a crap how long ago it was. Normal people would NEVER think about this kind of stuff, never even say it to a friend, let alone the whole damn world. As a father with both sons and daughters that is some damn upsetting behavior. And no I don't think that kind of behavior does change. You can't go from some pervert mentality to being the wonderful guy living next door, and have him baby sit your young kids, Yea right. People really never change. You are what you are deep down inside, You can put on an act for a week or so, but you will always be what you are, especially in times of stress and anger. A super kind person is never going to be a cruel jackass, and some cruel person is Never going to be kind day in and day out. My brother and I are complete opposites. He is laid back as heck, kind, never cusses, doesn't really drink, never smoked, and I am a polar opposite of him, I do ALL the things I said he doesn't and more LoL. And I could Never change to be him, or him be me, Never. I envy him, I really do. https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/1020665661486522368/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1020665661486522368&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fs.yimg.com%2Fos%2Fyc%2Fhtml%2Fembed-iframe-min.2d7621e2.html

    50mm

I never owned the Zeiss 50mm 1.7, but I have had the Canon 50mm 1.4 FD. At least the copy I had was about as good as it gets output wise, and well handling also. And it is surprisingly small for as fast as they are.
  20. Yeah but Disney has to maintain probably the most Pristine image of it's self of any corporation in America. You rock the boat you are out I don't care who you are. It is in this day and age almost impossible to recover from a dumb ass move you ignore, and try to sweep under the rug. Is it fair, well the more times you open your pie hole the more fodder you have for the people to go back to and point a finger and say hey this person was a, Fill in the Blank........ and then your Goose is Cooked.
  21. Wow the Ultra is just crazy good on the MTF chart. Impressive would be a understatement!

  23. I see they have 32GB | 64GB | 128GB. No 256GB one, but the price is right if they really work as advertised.
