  1. There is all kinds of company's that build Industrial cameras for monitoring, surveillance. That doesn't mean they will ever be worth a crap for consumer video. There are all kinds of websites where you can buy sensors all day. It doesn't mean that it can't turn into a Red camera thing, but to keep waiting for some Holly Grail 8K camera that we hope is Only going to cost 800 Dollars, well good luck with that panning out. This Z Cam 2 thing gets weirder every day let alone this thing. I think this new PK4 has thrown a Monkey Wrench into all of these startups thinking they are the next Arri. Hell just buy some camera that is proven and get on with it. A old Red Mysterium X would be better than some of these goofball things. What can one of these cameras have over this new PK4 that any normal person needs, or could even afford the media, computing power? Who even owns lenses that can resolve 8K? Who Pixar Studios, Disney Studios? It sure ain't that Nifty 50 Canon lens for 199 bucks.

It had to be more than just the lead. Maybe the coatings, heck some sort of dye they out in the glass as they manufactured it, I don't know, but that FD Canon lens has colors that were almost Olympus looking compared to the Pentax ones. That was no accident.
  3. I was in Phoenix a few years ago in the summer. You could not touch the door handle to open the damn door coming out of Sam's Club 15 minutes later to put away your stuff you just bought, Crazy state. Sedona was about the only place I would want to live in Arizona, and you would have to win the Lotto to buy a house there.
  4. That thing is a total scam. Vaporware.

Part of the reason newer Digital cameras look so Clinical is what Kidzrevil said. All the new cameras have lots of corrections going on so you don't see any distortions for crap any more. You could have Never used lenses as wide as we have now. They were Fisheye lens if they were that wide back in the day. I just yesterday was showing my son those 4 lenses I bought from a Thrift Store for 16 Dollars. There were two 28mm f2.8's in the bunch. A 55mm f2.8, also Pentax M42.. Both 28mm, one a Canon FD,, one a Pentax M42. They are day and night different from each other color wise. The Canon has way more punchy colors than the Pentax on my A7s.. The 135mm Pentax M42 is super sharp but sort of sterile. We put on my Sony FE 16-35mm Zeiss and it was even sharper than both 28's but a lot more sterile looking than the other three mentioned. It was better in a clinical sense. More Modern for sure. So long story short old lenses do look more Classic, mellow whoever you want to name them. Of the 5 lenses we did test shots of all of them looked different, in a good or bad way depending on your mood or need.
  8. Well I think the object of a travel video is to.. travel, to show movement, even if it is somewhat erratic. Now I a not into the 8mm jerky as heck stuff, but I don't think perfection is the goal either. I think more of a Monopod look than a tripod look. Sure Gimbals are big now, but I don't like them overdone either. They have their place, but not using it for the whole time.
  9. Yeah I would be really interested. I had one for my iPhone 6s Plus. Sold it on here. But I have been thinking of getting another one for My iPhone X. So the DJI Gimbal will balance all of it, or does it have a counter balance weight you have to screw on?
  10. That is some pretty amazing footage. Grats.
  11. I think this sort of sums up the new Sony FD5 mk II. "There has been a lot of people that seem unhappy with the FS5 II. I think many people want a Sony Venice for the price of an FS5. Let’s be realistic, that isn’t going to happen. 10 bit recording in UHD would be nice, but that would need higher bit rates to avoid motion artefacts which would then need faster and more expensive media. If you want higher image quality in UHD or 4K DCI do consider an Atomos recorder and the new ProRes Raw codec. The files are barely any bigger than ProRes HQ, but offer 12 bit quality." from this article. http://www.xdcam-user.com/2018/04/pxw-fs5-ii-secret-sauce-and-venice-colour-science/ But the HFR is not too shabby with a external recorder.. But it is not too shabby internal for short bursts. Sort of a modern FS700 for IronFilm! external recording to a compatible recorder: 120fps (at 60Hz mode, 100fps at 50Hz mode) in 4K (4096 x 2160) RAW in a 4-second burst or Continuous 240fps (at 60Hz mode, 200fps at 50Hz mode) in 2K (2048×1080) RAW or Continuous 4K 60fps (59.94fps, 50fps at 50Hz mode) RAW output to a compatible external recorder. internal recording to SD cards: 4K internal recording Full HD 10bit 4:2:2 @ up to 240 fps of 8-second cache recording. Continuous recording of up to 120fps in Full HD.
  12. Yeah I am sure that is the way they will go more than the Sony way, at least on their top end one.
  13. We are at a point now where there is in reality too many choices. And we can ill afford to make mistakes, because just having the camera is probably the lest costly part of video overall unless you are buying a 8K Red or something like it LoL. Back to the old, no perfect camera thing. I kind of wish 4K never came out. It sure does complicate buying, shooting decisions.
  14. I think you are in a near impossible situation to be honest. None of the cameras you mention are great in all of your needs. The EVA1, GH5, neither have good AF. So your Gimbal stuff is sort of iffy. But they can do your HFR pretty well. Good enough resolution with a good enough Codec on both. I just don't see how the Kinefinity could work at all. And to what camera to use as a B would either. Just because 4k one is using the same sensor as the GH5 does not mean the Color Science will be close. I really doubt this new P4K is going to match those two cameras having the same sensor either, you know it won't or having good AF at all. The Pk4 on paper might be better being the A Cam for a Cine Look! And the Sony FS5 mk II and the a7 mk III to me has the best combo, but you don't seem to be too hot on a FS5. The FS5 mk II is not that much different for the original. But they can both focus well, and have some really good tricks between them. And the new Color Science on the a7 mk III is pretty impressive I think. And then there is Canon. Both C100's, C200 lack a broadcast middle codec. Forced to shoot raw kind of sucks. But is overcame if you buy an external recorder. C300 no DPAF, C300 mk II too dam expensive yet. Canon 5D mk IV is expensive, and kind of suck be honest for the video part of it in 4K crop wise. 120 full HD on the C200 for HFR not shabby. But they both have DPAF so that is a hell of a plus, plus great color science. Not too sure the hate towards a Canon combo. Heck of a lot of stuff has been, and is being done with them. But you are right, the 5D mk IV would not be a dream camera of mine.
  15. Out of likes. Wow that was good, very good.
  16. I am not too sure of that. Each system has good or bad options. They are not both going to output the exact same look. They each have things backed in. But sure, the Atomos is not going to look shabby by any means.
  17. Yeah I had a Mosaic one back in the day. I was satisfied with it.. Not sure if they are even in business anymore?
  18. How is the AF though on the A7 mk III compared to the A9 for birding, BiF in both photo and video modes?
  19. Yeah if you buy a FS700 you just about have to buy a Odyssey 7Q to go with it. Sony I guess got with them at the start and worked some Voodoo Magic with it. I think Atomos was late to the dance on it.
  20. I found this article on the Red Hydrogen. Not sure if it has been liked here? http://www.focuspulling.com/hydrogen/
  21. Ahh yeah that makes sense. I don't have the paid Resolve, but for what I do the free one works fine. I used to do Premier but since this CC thing I really can't justify paying all that money.
  22. What about Resolve? I don't use FCPX. Too cheap to buy it. Well too poor actually. I have too many other toys I spent on.
  23. I found this website about Resolve 14. The main thing here is they have some nice links to heavy duty files to experiment with to see how well your computer, laptop can handle stuff. They are a little ways down on the page. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/DaVinci-Resolve-14-Performance-Windows-vs-Linux-1126/ So you can edit 4K files in a 4K timeline without Proxies?
