  1. Never have owned one, but hell it might get the job done who knows? The price is sure good. ? https://www.amazon.com/BE-278-Barbie-Wireless-Video-Camera/dp/B00006666K Yeah my Sony A7s has that APSC crop thingy and it is a Great feature no doubt. Helps with Rolling Shutter, and it gives your lens a boost focal length wise. With it and Clear Zoom it is like having 4 different lenses in one. I don't have a SP for my Sony. But I know it does help if you use it to get back up to FF on them, to help with the RS problem the A7s has. They are pretty terrible for RS. One of the worse.
  2. Ahh I think you Have to go with a Speedbooster in the long run on the P4K. Just for helping with the crop factor alone. You are talking over a s35 size on some aspect ratios used. And the ability to use your EF Glass, or some of the cheaper Cine lenses would be a bonus to use also. And t help with low light is a bonus to boot.
  3. I would change my spelling mistake but then your comment would be well, confusing LoL. And seeing, as far as I know, that the cheapest camera Sony makes now that has a Global Shutter is the Sony F55. So it ain't easy to do on the cheap as they say on every camera.
  4. It takes more prepossessing power than both camera manufacturers can muster.
  5. Well quit crying and don't buy a Blackmagic product. How hard is that. Like JB caused all your problems. WTF.
  6. There must have been 27 people in the whole world that has bought a Canon 5D mk IV, as there is hardly Any news about it, or threads, anything! It is the worse thing I have ever tried to research it seems. No real life info other than for Photos, and I am sure it is good doing that. Nothing current at all, not even on You Tube.It is like it has vanished from the face of the earth! This camera seems like a total flop on Canon's part, just like the 6D mk II. ?
  7. Well only a Apple can really run FCPX so I doubt my Laptop will win that battle LoL. But I have no need to use FCPX so that solves that problem. As I said I think it is well worth learning how to use Davinci Resolve. I think down the road it will be pretty much the best one there is to use for either platform. Even the free version is pretty amazing.
  8. I was hoping you were going to say you were using a Vest to support it, or had Bicep Implants LoL. ?
  9. No I mean they probably Loaned them to Shane. They were not setting the world on fire at 30 grand a pop. They would have been stupid not too.
  10. He used All kinds of cameras in that film. From Arri to GoPro. I would not doubt Canon helped out with the C500's, 1DC's. https://theasc.com/ac_magazine/April2014/NeedforSpeed/page1.html
  11. It is less than you think a day. And I think Andrew even raised the limit not long ago??
  12. Out of likes. Agree on that. But the MōVI® M10 came out in 2013. So they had gimbals soon after the Canon C series stuff came out, and the Red Scarlet.
  13. Well I am sure Anything is cheaper than shooting Panavision whether Film or Digital. ? Canon C500 came out in 2012. First movies, 3 of them, were shot in 2014. C500 cost 30 grand new. The Scarlet X introduced in 2012 by coming in at under $10,000 for the body and under $15,000 for the kit. Canon C300 came out in January 2012. Cost 16 Grand.
  14. Probably the RED Scarlet Body "Only" cost 20K LoL. Oh you want a hand grip, a LCD, a battery adapter, or Red Mags, you get the picture. Someone can give you a body and you still can't afford the rest it takes to shoot it. ? The C500 body is pretty much all you need other than media for it.
  15. I will give you some credit about Shane Hurlbut. I am not too fond of his stuff either. I mean he seems to know his stuff but he never seems to perfect anything. He is Always into the next thing, ergo camera, and never hones the cameras he already had. Now I realize he doesn't make a big time movie every month so by the time he is on the next set new things Have come out. But they are unproven, and sometimes it bites you in the ass. He experiments too much I think. But he does know his theory on stuff I will give him that, and definitely gives back to the community. But it was a lot cheaper to crash C500's than Red cameras that is for sure. So I can see why he used them, and I think he was one of the first to use them. He makes a ton more money than I do that is for sure. So he has to be doing something right.
  16. Too add though to the AF100. I think you have to have the AF100A model to get the 10 bit 4:2:2. That is the one I had. Quote from Personal View.. "The original AF100 had 10-bit 4:2:2 SDI/HDMI outputs as well. The downside, however, was that the bottom two bits were blanked out, restricting the AF100 to 8-bit resolution. According to Jan's explanation, Panasonic has added dithering to those two blanked-out bits. This superimposes an interpolated 2-bit gradient on the camera's 8-bit output, which can make transitions between color bands look smoother. This may produce comparable results as 10-bit transcoders such as 5DtoRGB, which use similar digital signal processing techniques to enhance the conversion of 8-bit data into a 10-bit transcoded format. The good news is that the original AF100 is far from obsolete. The sad news is that the AF100A will not have the true 10-bit output we were hoping for."
  17. Out of likes. Yeah it is one heck of a camera for the money.
  18. From Oxford, Ohio to Perast, Montenegro would be one heck of a long swim for me. Never been there, looks well, beautiful. Hmm.
  19. Here is the first time I ever tried one, a Fujinon 19X f 1.7 with the 2x extender on my Panasonic AF100A. Picture of rig above. Had a 50 dollar B4 to m4/3 adapter on it. They can be incredible sharpness wise. I paid 150 bucks for it because the zoom motor was burned out from Adorama. Pretty common on them. There is a switch where you can disable the power zoom so works by hand easy. If you can find one like the picture below that says AT2 that is a newer version of the lens. It is HD. I had no problem even in 4K on my G7 with that lens. This is Fuji description of AT2 lens. So as you can see they are pretty damn good even for HD and better. "AT2 Aspheric Technology Many of Fujinon's HDTV and broadcast lenses feature Fujinon's AT2, which combines the company's exclusive Aspheric Technology with a new inner focusing system to greatly improve lens performance over conventional designs." I can also say the Panasonic AF100 is a hell of a great camera for as low as 600 dollars. Amazing output using a native m4/3 mount, decent AFS AF also. Tons of knobs, buttons. A true Cine Camera for peanuts. Great learning tool.
  20. I have had a Sony A7, A7r, and now the A7s. Not had the A7 mk II. But I have looked and read a Ton about it. And if you are into video it is not worth having because of the not so hot at High ISO, 1080p is not near a good as the A7s is. Other than the IBIS I see no use for it other than a Photo taking camera. The Only cameras to have from Sony for video work is the A7s, A7s mk II, and the A7r mk II in the s35 crop mode , and now the A7 mk III. I don't know much about the A7r mk III for video, way out of my price range. Even the Sony A9 is not so hot for video. It is pretty much the A7s series or go somewhere else for video. Other than the A7s series you can use the A7r mk II using it in s35 mode and use a speedbooster and bring it back up to FF. Footage looks great and the Rolling Shutter is helped a lot. The original A7s, A6300, A6500 are the poster child for the definition of Rolling Shutter. But you learn to not swing them around like a wild man, point them out the window driving at 100 MPH at a 90 degree angle Lol. The A6300 are terrible for 1080p unless you shoot in 4K and downsample. Why bother having it. Now the A6500 is Really good in 4K and has IBIS and the half ass touchscreen. 1080p again, not so hot. There is no cheap way out on anything video related that doesn't have some big compromise. Even a Arri Alexa is a wounded whale rigged up, eating memory up faster than you can feed it, and takes 3 people to run it well. But the Panny G7, GH4, original BMPCC can get the job done. Hell a new iPhone is not so bad any more to be honest. Skill overcomes money and lack of knowledge. I am as guilty as anyone, but I believe if you know any camera inside out, every trick it has to offer, every hurdle is has that can be overcome, you can get magic out of Any camera. You have to shoot, shoot, shoot with it. Hell actually read the manual. We all know you can go on YT or Vimeo and find fabulous footage from every camera imaginable. It can be done with skill ,and knowing the camera you have inside and out. And well the real weak point most of us have is editing, and editing well, coloring well. Heck it is more important than the camera in a sense. A person that was super good at editing and had a BMPCC hell you could have Great footage, Jaw dropping stuff. It just takes practice, over and over. It doesn't require a lot of money, just the drive, desire to make stuff that is Wow, that is Impressive.
  21. There is not Any camera he likes LoL. Everything is a piece of shit. It gets pretty old actually. Oh and every film shot on film is perfect. You can't ever overexpose, or underexpose it, blow out the highlights. Yeah right.
  22. If you are into video you don't want a A7 mkII at all.
  23. Doesn't the GH5s have a digital zoom feature like Clear Zoom on the Sony cameras? Why not use that if it works well enough at the times you need more reach?
