Yeah I am buying it also. I don't really think it will be many peoples Only video camera they own, but for the money a person can afford to have one and enjoy some other model or brand they like also. I agree with a few peoples response on here that there will be bargains down the road used for it because of the "let down" some people will have using it. I doubt it will be as big of a pain in the ass the original BMPCC was for batteries, the LCD screen, on and on, but it will not be a set it Auto camera either!

If the FD-88 was 1.3mp the FD5 had to be 1.0mp or Less LoL! I had the FD5, and the FD7. Never could afford the FD-88 at the time! http://www.iretron.com/blog/posts/technology-flashback-sony-digital-mavica-mvc-fd5-1997/ https://www.ebay.com/p/Sony-Mavica-MVC-FD88-1-3MP-Digital-Camera-Metallic-gray/100105509?iid=221813294800&chn=ps

Well well we all have to admit as of late the line between "Professional" and "Consumer" have really narrowed. When I was most of you guys age you either worked for a place that did video, or you bought a $200.00 at the time spring powered 8mm movie camera. If you were rich you had a Bolex, or my dream camera, a Beaulieu 4008 ZM Camera. They made beautiful looking cameras. Not too many choices compared to today. Now with the 4K BMPCC coming out it can nearly compete with rich people on an equal footing. The GH5s is amazing, the Sony A7 mk III is, the ML Canon 5D mk III, Canon C100, on and on. We live in an amazing time for video. It is now down to skill more than gear. The tables have leveled. No real excuse these days to not get the job done.

That Squirrel one is crazy sharp. Wow that would be great for Nature and Birding! GAS.

Canon’s Chuck Westfall explains it well: “The IS mechanism operates by correcting shake. When there is no shake, or when the level of shake is below the threshold of the system’s detection capability, use of the IS feature may actually *add* unwanted blur to the photograph, therefore you should shut it off in this situation. Remember that the IS lens group is normally locked into place. When the IS function is active, the IS lens group is unlocked so it can be moved by the electromagnetic coil surrounding the elements. When there’s not enough motion for the IS system to detect, the result can sometimes be a sort of electronic ‘feedback loop,’ somewhat analogous to the ringing noise of an audio feedback loop we’re all familiar with. As a result, the IS lens group might move while the lens is on a tripod, unless the IS function is switched off and the IS lens group is locked into place.”

I had two different ones back in the day. I Loved them. I think they are only like 2mp but they got the job done at the time. And the disks were super cheap also. What I think they held like 16 shots??

Samsung open to new camera system, joins forces with Fujifilm

They are just too big of a company to have a few missteps bother them much financially. They have been pretty aggressive as of late other than TV's. I have no clue why. They used to be the top dog on TV's years ago. Seems like Samsung, LG have taken that crown as of late. Even Panasonic TV's seem to have faded. And wow they were great years ago! -
Yeah I think his VND Filter might be my next filter purchase.

Here is an article on the GH5s from DPR on DR. It pretty much thinks it is a bit over 12 stops. I agree that is probably the top. https://***URL removed***/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dc-gh5s-review/6

Very good post. Yeah if you have the skill you can make a movie with a 3 year old Smartphone look better than most people can if you Gave them a Arri Alexa. And yes, if you are not making lots of money a Canon T2i with the plastic kit lens gets the job done. Heck I still think the original BMPCC is pretty much all a heck of a lot of people into video really need below the Pro level. And this new 4K one, Wow what else you need other than super duper AF, and that is still up in the air on it..

Your Crazy LoL. You Do realize they have had 4k cameras since about the beginning, and some of their stuff even has Global Shutters, No rolling shutter problem. Kinefinity has just come out with 90% of their stuff. BMD is not old by any means, but they make Kinefinity look like a startup company, which they are.
-
Well with the 4K BMPCC having Raw in it I am sure it will have more DR than the GH5s. How much, heck who knows. But I would guess an easy 1 stop more. I am more thinking the GH5s really has 12 stops in V Log. So the 13 might be right on the BM.

I think Smartphones sales is going to slow down pretty big time in the near future. China for one is really pushing that if it is not a Chinese Cellphone company you are not going to be able to sell it in China at all in the near future. That is a HUGE market cut off. And they have got to the point that they are just costing too damn much money for the gains you see each year now. People in India and Africa are not buying 1000 Dollar phones. If you are not into big time photo, video output a 5 year old phone gets the job done yet. I see the market dropping off not moving up. But yeah I agree with your statement. Samsung and Apple are the leaders in the world. I see Apple is going to start making stuff "in house" since the move of China is to cut off sales of Apple products there, and even the manufacturing of them also. I think they are not, and have not sold as many RX10 mk III, mk IV as they have hoped. They are just too damn expensive. Sure they are pretty impossible to beat if you have small ass hands to hold the damn thing for a vacation lets say, or even using them for wildlife shooting. But since they are not selling them by the millions I would bet overall it is a dead end street profit wise. I would not be surprised the mk IV might be the last version they ever make. I think they lost their way when they went to a variable Aperture lens and got rid of the ND filters. I can't even use my RX10 because the Aperture ring raking the hell out of my finger. It must to have been designed for 12 year old girls is all I can guess?? -

I don't think Sony is going to loose any sleep with Samsung or anyone else in the Sensor business. Sony is the King of video. They have been pretty much since the start. The have the best engineers in the business. And they have plowed a crazy amount of Billions of dollars into their sensor Fab plants. Plus like I said they want to be #1 by 2022. And I am not sure if they can do that, but if anyone can it's Sony. and they will undercut everyone, even themselves, just like they did with this new A7 mk III for market share. They stuck a stake in Canon and Nikon's heart with that move. No more charging 3 grand for FF stuff now unless it is their flagship. It even sent a message to Panasonic, Olympus on their 2500 dollar m4/3 stuff. And now BMD even set a new standard cost wise with the 4K BMPCC. Sony is out to win at any cost. Now no doubt if you can come up with a new Sensor that has say like DPAF in it like Canon did, or some other magic thing, well good. But if you think you are going to go toe to toe with Sony on sort of the same tech, well good luck with that lasting. To have a Big name camera maker switch from Sony, well it would have to be an earthshaking new design. That don't happen very often. -
To me the Sony A7 mk III looks more like Canon colors than Canon as of late. I think they are looking pretty good right out of the box. Dies it use that Venice Color Science??

Having to compete against Sony head to head is no small feat. As we all know, Sony Corporate has stated they plain to be the #1 camera company by what was it, like 2022 or something. Well that is not my idea of a friendly market to get back into unless Samsung figures many someone like Nikon goes under, and there is some room in the market. Who knows. But I can see them doing the Senor sales thing with Fuji working out, if not just for Fuji alone. I think they have been wanting to dump the X Trans Sensor for awhile. It really is worse than their Bayer sensor as of late. I think Fuji always wanting to have some odd duck sensor in their cameras has become too big of a drag on the company in this day and age. They need a change. -

Really good bridge camera are like the high end Point N Shoot stuff, Way to damn expensive to sell many for making a profit in the long run. I think Sony just keeps updating them to show off their 1" sensor improved tech that seems to be used by everyone. I would not doubt they loose money on them. You can buy a damn good camera for 1300 to 1500 bucks new or used. Sure you are not getting the fast lens but most people in that price range have some lenses anyways. Plus I think Samsung would be crazy to get back in the camera market. It is a sinking ship down the road. No room for small market camera company's in the future other than Leica, Digital MF stuff. But I guess it is a good way to show off your Sensor Tech! -
LMAO.
