Wow noise control on it is Really impressive! Well done. "wish it doesn't overheat after 5 mins though" Yikes! But that is a long time to be taking a shot to be honest unless it is for an interview, or your kids Ballet. Some videos on You Tube would work it it lasted 3 seconds on some of the cuts I have seen lately LoL. Those drive me crazy. They must really like editing I guess.

Nice. Your talking a camera in the A6500 that you can make pretty darn good footage with. Not a lot it can't do. Well Whip pans are probably out with one. But most people don't even know what Rolling Shutter even is or care. So don't let that slow you down. If you do 1080p, 4k down sampled is your best best. It is pretty good that way compared to 1080p OOC. Simple to do also if you haven't before. https://dslrvideoshooter.com/how-and-why-you-should-downscale-4k-to-1080/

Speaking about Anamorphic. I have never filled in the info to see the results but.. Too poor to buy anyone of those lens. https://learn.sharegrid.com/lenstest

Who would pay twice the price if the new BM Pocket 4K had Canon DPAF?
webrunner5 replied to wolf33d's topic in Cameras
Well all those facts add up to probably why they can sell this camera for only $995.00 LoL ? -
Hmm, your right. More like 3 grand each. But isn't Rokinon, Samyang two completely different company's??
-
You would think it would be a Lot easier to manufacture lenses today than 15, 30 years ago with computer modeling and computer machinery to produce them. But I have seen a video on Canon lenses and their is an amazing amount of hand assembly in them. But still that can't be tons of money. So what if it takes them a week. Doesn't justify a $40,000.00 lens price to me. It could be it is mostly they really don't sell many at all. I would think one made 50 years ago is still capable of getting the job done on most film stuff. Now on these new 8K Panavision things I doubt old ones hold up well. Since Hollywood seems to pay out the butt for everything, why not charge the moon for one.

The most expensive lens Samyang even makes is $799.00. Jumping up to a $10,000.00 lens would be quite a leap! That is like one day building Fiat 500's and the next day you start making Ferrari's. And yes I know Fiat owns Ferrari. I sort of believe his statement more than 10K lenses. ?

Heh, good one. Not sure he gave me a compliment or what LoL.

Who would pay twice the price if the new BM Pocket 4K had Canon DPAF?
webrunner5 replied to wolf33d's topic in Cameras
It is using basically the very same sensor that is in the GH5s. Granted the AF on the GH5s is not so hot either, but a Lot better than nothing. So if there is some kind of info the senor has to output it ought to be there in the 4K BMPCC. So all they have to do is use some crude contrast detect auto focus. The tech for it has been around for years. Heck maybe Panasonic with license their Defocus thingy? -

This is true, but lets hope that they Can come up with real AF. Wouldn't that be a nice present from BM. I think they Have to do it at some time, and now would be a nice time. ? -
Looks like it is just like the mk II, better in crop mode. It would be awful hard to sample all that data quick enough even with Sony's expertise without overheating in such a small body. Most of the high end Cine Camera that have even a s35 sensor have a heat sink in them as big as your hand. And maybe Sony doesn't have a processor yet than can even sample it fast enough? That would appear to be a big problem on the Canon side. https://***URL removed***/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr29_0=sony_a7riii&attr29_1=sony_a7riii&attr72_0=4k-apsc&attr72_1=4k&normalization=full&widget=572&x=-0.11115383747886572&y=0.28980583000000004 And what they said about it. It is not a huge difference, but it IS better in crop mode. https://***URL removed***/reviews/sony-a7r-mark-iii-review/9 Seems to be the consensus on this thread also. https://***URL removed***/forums/thread/4268646

Thank you for your kind words. I will remember you in my prayers tonight. ?

I think you are mistaken. It seems it is only if you want your Home Screen to be in either mode. Not for Photos, Videos, eh I think LoL. ? https://www.macworld.com/article/2987101/iphone-ipad/how-to-turn-off-or-turn-on-landscape-mode-on-the-iphone-6-plus-and-6s-plus-home-screen.html

Speaking of DPAF! Looks like maybe Canon doesn't have a lock on the Patent for it? No way they would let Rival Nikon use it. https://www.diyphotography.net/nikon-mirrorless-camera-may-dual-pixel-autofocus-tech-according-new-patent/ List of Canon cameras that have DPAF, not counting some of the C series Cine cameras. anon Cameras with Dual Pixel CMOS AF This list is constantly growing, as new cameras are developed and introduced. The first EOS camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF was the EOS 70D, introduced in 2013. As of April 2018, the following Canon EOS models use Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology: EOS M-series “mirrorless” models: EOS M5 EOS M6 EOS M50* EOS digital SLRs with APS-C size sensors: EOS Rebel T7i* EOS 77D* EOS 70D EOS 80D* EOS 7D Mark II* EOS digital SLRs with full-frame sensors: EOS 6D Mark II* EOS 5D Mark IV* EOS-1D X Mark II * Servo AF (continuous focus on moving subjects) possible during Live View still-image shooting -
I don't think you can buy a Laptop that will do ProRes for the 500€ mark new. I doubt even used might be a hard thing to accomplish. With one Node open well maybe. But that is so basic of edits it is hardly worth it. It is only as of late they have picked up the pace on GPU's,and even then they are mostly on 17" Gamer Laptops that cost 1600 to 2000 bucks new. Maybe doing Proxies it works but. Resolve is a GPU hungry NLE when using a bunch of Nodes. And there is No such thing as a Cheap Apple Laptop, let alone one that that has the Horsepower to do it. Most all cheap PC Laptops have the cheesy, cheap ass Hewlett Packard onboard Graphic Chip in them. You can't edit a 720p file with those LoL. Maybe a Old Apple laptop doing FCP? The Late 2011 Laptops have that processor in them or better. If you can find a late 2013 Laptop used for your cost you will be in business easy for FCPX. Looks like the 2013 will work with Resolve! https://www.apple.com/shop/question/answers/readonly/tag/mac/will-davinci-resolve-lite-run-on-the-new-13-inch-macbook-pro-i7/QUKTXXXXF4D9XT99P Cheap one here. But only 4GB ram. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/OC1DS2XXXXXXC/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_campaign=googlebase&gclid=Cj0KCQjw37fZBRD3ARIsAJihSr0oX0X8pBU2Ln8em0sLkunU-KAjpmIgYOANXyZQpExNHo-9M9-SbCMaAhymEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Final Cut Pro X System Requirements Minimum Requirements to run: OS X v10.11.4 or later. 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended for 4K) OpenCL-capable graphics card or. • Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later. 256MB of VRAM (1GB recommended for 4K and 3D titles) 4.15GB of disk space.

18 stops is possible on the 8K W model. They don't charge $54,500.00 for 13 stops! And hell that is just for the Brain! Look at the test and see it with your own eyes. Phil Holland, is one of the Moderators on Reduser.net. He is one smart guy. I Believe his test. http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?154113-RED-8K-Sensor-Test-2017 Heck I can get nearly 13 true stops, Maybe a bit more on my Sony A7s in SLog 2. And no, no GH5 has 12 stops in reality. More like 11.5 tops. https://nofilmschool.com/2014/07/sony-a7s-dynamic-range-arri-alexa-amira

I don't know much about the A7r mk III, but the A7r mk II was never super sharp in FF. You had to use the crop mode to get cut your face stuff. Maybe the same with the Mk III I don't know?

I really doubt any attachment that Red has to make that phone really worth shooting over a Say Apple iPhone X, is going to cost a fortune. We are talking Red here. And it will be big naturally. I have no real desire to pay a ton of money to see 3D stuff or what the hell ever it is. It to me is more of a gimmick than anything I Really need. Red doesn't make Anything cheap.

Liliput A5, or any other cheap 5" or smaller competitors?

I use my Apple, 9.7, 2018 Air tablet a heck of a lot. I use it as my external monitor for my Sony A7s, and for a bunch of video related apps. The newer Apple iPad Air's have nearly 500 nits. That is really not too shabby. But it is one that has Cellular in it, Verizon, so I can use it pretty much anywhere. I use it more than my iPhone a lot of days. When you get older a BIG screen is a Plus! -

webrunner5 replied to wolf33d's topic in Cameras
Yeah this thing is not going to be a Point n Shoot camera that is for sure. No Auto or P Mode on it. Although the Film Mode on it might not be too bad OOC in a normal ProRes setting like ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT .. ? -
I have bought several used cameras from Adorama and all of them were in better condition than described. Some as much as 5000 dollars used. And a lot of lenses, on and on. They have hands down the best prices and selection on used Video gear. And all of them have arrived quickly, other than if you order on a weekend. Same deal with B&H on weekends. Both are really good company's to buy from.

webrunner5 replied to wolf33d's topic in Cameras
Trouble with Canon is they will in no way in hell sell a FF 4K mirrorless for less than 3 grand. For 2 grand they will build a gimped as hell 6D mkII knock off to Try and compete with the Sony A7 mk III. It will probably suck, just like the 6D does. No way on the cheaper end is Canon going to hit a home run on their first outing. Now they may try to go balls to the wall on the top end one, but it will cost a Ton of money. 3400 bucks or more. You Know Nikon is Going to have a Mirrorless D850. It will happen. So Canon Has to compete with it, and the Sony on the A7r mk III. So if you are looking for a good, cheap Canon mirrorless I don't think it will happen. A cheap, gimped one. Well yeah, that Will happen. -

Well that was a pretty ballsy statement LoL. ? I think the original question Should have been, Would you pay a Decent amount more, not say Double. I would have Voted Yes on that question, but Double, that is a Lot. Nah. You can buy the original C100 here in the USA for as little as 1100 dollars. I have seen the ones with the DPAF in them for 1500 to 1600 Dollars at times. That is not much more than the 4K BMPCC. Sure it doesn't have 4K, well it does LoL, but we are talking a pretty damn nice camera here. For weddings, Corporate I am buying that camera.
