I got a 0. I am not surprised. Remember I said I was hired at Western Electric because of my ability to see colors. But I am surprised I am still that good at 71. One thing has changed though is I have a hard time seeing a Black Keyboard with Whites numbering, letters. I have been using a White keyboard with Black letters, numbers the last 3 or 4 years??

Liliput A5, or any other cheap 5" or smaller competitors?
webrunner5 replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
But I have heard that the Atomos recorders are maybe no the most accurate colors wise?? Maybe the 502 is?, never owned either. -
Sony seems to even given up making Wide angle adapters like they did for their Camcorders for years. I mean Wide is the thing now and few are taking advantage of it it seems to me? With all the auto correction stuff in cameras now I don't see how one of those adapters can't look pretty good.

Yeah you gets what you pay for on cheap monitors. But they are better than nothing don't get me wrong. I am a big believer in the False Color option some of them have. The 502 is expensive, but pretty much impossible to beat, other than maybe that new 5" Atomos recorder. But it is a lot heavier than just a Monitor, but the screen is better than on the 502. Atomos products have a ton of Nits on their screens which is a huge plus in outdoor stuff. Which heck, is probably the majority of peoples shots. You can have all the Aids in a product in the world, but if you can't see the screen so what. And if you buy a recorder that does 4K 60p I doubt it will be outdated for a good amount of time. -
I know they have not advanced that much in Low Light but the difference between a iPhone 5 and a iPhone X now is incredible photo and video wise. If Smartphones were Cine cameras we would all be using a Arri Alexa Mini for 1800 bucks new. But I must admit even cheaper cameras have jumped up big time, 10 bit, Raw, IBIS, 4K, HDR on and on.

Sony's new full frame CineAlta camera is announced: VENICE
webrunner5 replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
I have no clue why some one hasn't sort of thought about that idea years ago. That is a game changer for in car stuff, Jigs, Cranes even Drones etc.. Probably nothing saying they might even be able to make the head wireless in the years to come. Now That would be something. Man Sony is a Pit Bull when it comes to video stuff. -
This was some of the gear I used for BiF stuff a year or so ago. Oly EM1, Canon 1D mk III, Oly EPL1. I used the Fujinon lenses on the EM1, GH3, and my G7. They work damn well. But they Have to be on a tripod. No handheld stuff. They do cover the entire m4/3 frame if they have a Doubler in them engaged. If you are serious about BiF or Sports, any fast action the Olympus EM1, EM1 mk II is crazy good at AF. I had Way better luck with it than any of my Canon 1d mk II, mk II n, Mk III ever did focus wise. It is a top notch camera in every respect. I had this Oly lens, 50-200mm. What a Jewel. No picture of it. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/527566-REG/Olympus_261015_50_200mm_f_2_8_3_5_ED_SWD.html?ap=y&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmPPYBRCgARIsALOziAOFaK0elHilGL9HbFOO3zuEz4Hglv6dnWO6nWUf8los5Y5Ub9h8PYAaAusmEALw_wcB And the Oly 12-60mm. Heavy, but a Seriously great lens. https://www.ebay.com/p/Olympus-Zuiko-12-60mm-f-2-8-4-SWD-ED-Lens-For-Four-Thirds/99757148?iid=171331085672&chn=ps

So are you going to use this "pocket" camera as sort of a B cam to the GH5s? Which I think the GH5s is an excellent choice by the way, and I can see theGX80 working with it pretty well also.

Out of Likes. Great write up. Well stated.

Heck if you want a pocket camera than just buy the original BMPCC and put a Panny 20mm f1.7 on it and be happy. Doesn't get much better than that output wise. And a Bunch of batteries in the pocket on the other side! Bliss on the cheap. And damn near Arri output. I know it is not fast enough for you but that Olympus M.ZUIKO Pro 12-40mm F2.8 is going to be pretty hard to beat if you want something that is top end stuff, well built, and can be a beast on a normal m4/3 camera down the road with the AF ability and the Clutch in it.. That is the same lens Blackmagic had on Every 4K BMPCC I saw in the videos. They must know something we don't. ?
-
It will work with the Olympus ZUIKO 14-35mm f/2.0. AF and MF. It does have the MF linked Mechanically. SO it might be worth looking into. BiF stands for Bird in Flight. It is pretty hard to photograph or even video really fast flying Birds. It is sort of a Art that that takes lots of skill and well a decent camera with AF in it. Some of the best ones are from people that just Manual Focus. But it takes years of practice to master that. Kingfishers and Humming Birds are about the fastest in the United States to photograph. It can become addictive to try and shoot them. People spend crazy money on a great BiF rig, camera and lenses. But it is a very rewarding Hobby and you become One With Nature as they say. And the exercise is good for you to boot. Win, Win. It is sort of a Zen thing in a sense. I love it. Very calming. Good for people like me that have no Damn Patience! ?

A good compact camera for 4K videos. max 900 euro
webrunner5 replied to FoxAdriano's topic in Cameras
The LX10 has no viewfinder at all. Man that is a total Pass at my age. Holding out a camera at arms length is pretty Gay. -
The Olympus ZUIKO 14-35mm f/2.0 will really Only work on a Olympus EM1 or mk II. I have had several 4/3 lenses, Primes and zooms, all high end stuff when I had my EM1 for BiF stuff. They actually work pretty well, but they need PDAF. No m4/3 camera I know of other than the EM1 has it.

What about the Olympus lenses with the MF Clutch? I think there is this variety of them? 12, 17, 7-14, 12-40, 40-150. Well I forgot the killer lens from hell. The Olympus 12-100mm with the manual clutch. Man 24-200mm, what's not to like at a constant f4. https://www.imaging-resource.com/lenses/olympus/12-100mm-f4-is-pro-m.zuiko-digital-ed/review/

Yeah good advice. They do look a bit too Digital. Those filters really help. kidzrevil uses them a lot.The GH4 was pretty much the best camera the average Joe Blow could afford with a Speedbooster on them just 1 1/2 years ago! And you are going to spend more on a Sony RX...! Yikes, No way! -
I'll be damned, I did down vote that post. I have no clue why. Nothing you said in it goes against my thoughts. Only person I ever intentionally down voted was Jon. He seems to sort of be the Old Jon again. That is good. I removed my down vote. You are a virgin again. Praise the Lord! ? I think it might have been the old "Too many Beers" syndrome! ?

Ok why don't YOU suggest a camera worth a crap. Other than the Sony RX... and the LX100 what then?? Why buy a camera that sucks ass. When he asks for a tilting screen and 4K that fits in your pocket there is not a hell of a lot of options. This site is Suppose to be about half serious video. Not what camera do I take to Disneyland, or If you could only have one lens crap. Go to DPR if you want to see an answer to those questions. It might Also help if the OP gave us a clue what he, she is even going to use it for, or shoot?? think what the OP wants doesn't even exist to be honest. Use your Smartphone. They are better than just about any compact camera. That's why few even exist. -
What the hell are you and Chris talking about. I never down voted anything. I never ever voted?????
-
Downvote, I never voted at All?? I just thought it looked funny the way you had the bag covering your bag. Hope no women read that! Out of likes. I think Glenn must have signed up for the Navy. Dirty old sailor like me.

A GH4 with a cheap kit lens is pretty hard to beat for the money. They are really not that big with a small lens on them. Why give up every trick in the book that the GH4 has over something that just makes the grade? There has been some killer stuff shot on a GH4. Anything small as heck is mostly a total compromise I am not wiling to do. Might as well use your Smartphone to be honest using the small stuff. But there is the beautiful Panasonic LX100. Just wish there was the LX200. ? -
I am not going to comment on that bag hanging out there like that? ?

I really think people, including Steven Soderbergh, Need to get away for trying to make a Smartphone look like film. It is Not film, never will be, and hell we live in a Digital Age. Young people don't even know what film looks like. They know what YT and Vimeo look like. If you dial down the Saturation on most Phones video on them looks pretty damn good OOC other than Low light. I have no clue why DoP's, in the industry, and even on here are just , Oh It Has to be Filmic or it is shit. I know I am guilty of it also. But I grew up with film. Young people have Grown up with iPhones. Is it as good as film, well when 8K becomes the standard, and it ain't far away, people will laugh how bad film looked down the road. And hell they may be right. I think if you ignore Smartphones it may be at your own peril in the near future. The Times are a changing as Dylan said. Am I going to throw away my Sony A7s, etc., well hell no, but I might use my phones more than I do now for half serious stuff. They have come a long ways in a damn short time.

Yeah I agree the that first video is too saturated for my tastes also. But that is a Apple thing apparently that most Normal" people really like LoL. It states that there was No color correction done. I am sure a skilled colorist can make a iPhone look like a Arri if they want in this day and age. And I don't think you can really ignore, or dismiss them as a somewhat serious video and photo tool anymore. They can get the job done in a lot of situations. Low light, well not so much, but they do sell light you know. ?

I like the M50 footage better. Pretty damn impressive for the money.
-
This one is nice also. I can't see HDR on my Monitor though.
