You are getting a lot better grading and I have stated so before. But that deoesn't mean I like the overall output you have. But like I said a lot of people like it on here I guess. That is fine, no problem. But that doesn't mean what I like is bad either. I liked the output from the GH2, but the GH3, GH4, GH5 ehh not so much. Sorry.
-
I don't like HDR at all. It is not Cine, Filmic looking. It is just like HDR Photos, I hate them. Over done from hell. But that is me, and I know you like it. So you shoot it, and I won't, pretty simple concept. I like a film look you like a Digital look. I am in the minority. and you are not. So I guess you are doing what most people want. That is fine.
-
Yeah probably. Save money and just buy a GH4. No HDR in it, that is a plus by the way. The GH5 is a Great video Hybrid camera, but I don't consider it a Cine camera. And that is what this tread is about, Cine cameras.

Yes I believe you are right. You have seen the light. The average person is not going to get the best out of any camera.Even this new BMPCC 4k. I would argue most people will not be talented enough to even begin to get the best footage out of it. Editing ProRes, especially Cinema DNG Raw ain't easy by any means.
-
Yep, sorry that is the way it is. I have been around the block a few times as they say. There are talented people, and not so talented. Such is life on all fronts. Panasonic, Sony, Oly, Red, who ever is going to pick the most talented people to shoot in the whole world demo footage with a new camera. So yeah they get the best you can get out of those cameras. Can I do that, no, can most of us, well maybe.
-
On average you probably won't see the difference but there are situations when it will. I was guilty a lot doing the same thing with my Oly EM1. They do recommend you turn it off on a tripod for "best results" Luke shot that. He is one of the best film makers and editors on here. He had damn good Anamorphic lens also. Panasonic didn't pick him because he is clueless. We on average on here sure as hell are not going to get footage that looks like that, plus a hell of a lot of it was shot in dark conditions. Hardly a way to judge the output of a camera. I don't consider that "Normal Output" from that camera. He has a lot of talent. And talent can make ANY camera look great. That video came out more than a year ago. I have not seen anyone else on here produce better or equal footage with a GH5. Luke could probably take a Barbie Cam and make it look good! I have seen great stuff out of a GH2, an iPhone, but it Ain't normal.

Yeah but I don't really consider the GH5 as a "Cine" camera like I consider the GH5s one. Even the Color Science is better in it than the GH5. It is not as Panny looking as the GH5. It is more toward the EVA1 than the GH5. And Dual ISO, Tons better low light, hell. And I don't give a crap about IBIS for a Cine camera. On sticks you have to turn it off, even the OIS on the lens has to be turned off if it has it. I like the GH5s, but it is out of my price range, especially with the new BMPCC 4k out. I Really don't like the GH5 output. Now like has been stated, if you are into Anamorphic, well you Have to go the GH5 route to get the best out of it..

It would be a first for BM. They have Never used a sensor that some one else has used before for any camera they have that I know of.
-
He says it has not been used in ANY previous camera. Hard to say one way or the other. He never mentioned BMD. We know but we don't.

My Sony A7s Only has a 12mp sensor and it has one the the sharpest 1080p outputs there is. Same with the GH5s. You don't need 50mp sensors to get sharp stuff. Hell the Sony PMW F3 only has like a 3.2mp sensor in it and it has a beautiful 1080p output. Now yeah unlike the EVA1 that has a 5.7k sensor where maybe, not even sure if it does, sure it does, down samples to 4k will look a bit sharper. Same with the A6500 you mention, but the A63000, A6500 have the worse F ing looking 1080p output i the world. So sometimes it just doesn't make a crap how big of a sensor you have in them. Now yeah the A6500 has one of the best 4k output there is. Go figure.
-
You are right about 800. 3200. But in the video the BM guy says at the same time he talked about the Dual IOS feature that the sensor in the new 4k BMPCC has Never been used before. Interesting. I remember that statement from before somewhere else also. So that means Maybe it is not the GH5s sensor??

GoPro stock plummets 90% in less than a 1.5 years
webrunner5 replied to Damphousse's topic in Cameras
The new ones are I think pretty amazing especially if you shoot them in flat profile in the 2.7k mode. I have the Hero5 Session and it is damn good, even the stabilization. -
Yes, False Color also, but it appears it will not have Waveform, interesting why not? Well at least not now it does. I find it hard to believe they will Not have it in when it comes out. Well it has dual ISO"s, 400, 3200. So 3200 Ought to be pretty close to what ISO 400 looks like, will be a little worse I am sure, but it may be good up to 6400 ISO?? But yeah, 3200 should be fine. Some have suggested it might be the Only ISO's that you should shoot at, 400, 3200 because they are both base ISO's.

Blackmagic is not doing crowdfunding. They are not going to get a dime from B&H or any company on pre orders. The will go to a bank and borrow money like any large company does to build buy the materials and pay for production for the camera. Plus company's like B&D don't even charge your credit card until it ships.
-
Jesus we get you are not going to buy the God Damn thing. Give it a rest!

I think he is right for anything we can afford to buy new. Raw is pretty much the best you Can do. I don't think he is implying the 4k BMPCC is going to be the best, they have started the trend on Raw, but what if Sony followed suit on a A7r mk xx with Raw, that would be pretty much it. Not unless you Need a 8k camera, which I doubt I need.
-
So you really think a GH5 is going to look better than this new 4k BMPCC? Really. Even the original BMPCC is renowned for it's output, and you think it is going to be no better in this one? The one picture we have up here form it, and you think the GH5 can output a file like that? And we have no clue what setting that picture was even taken at. I would guess it is at ProResHQ but, I doubt it is Raw. But we all have different ideas of what we like output wise. That is the reason there are so many camera manufactures out there. I just could not see myself ever buying a GH5, the GH5s maybe, better color science in it to me, because I really don't like the output from it. But you do, and that is great. I guess we will find out, " modern compressed codecs" are just that mainly so each company can have a priority codec, and mainly not to have to pay Apple for a License for ProRes. It is not always because it is better. Prue Raw is the best output by far, but it does require a good amount of work, well a lot at times to make it happen. More than the average person is willing to do. And I can understand that.

Nikon has been using the same stuff in the front half of the Nikon D810 for years. This has been proven to work. It isn't going to be a toy camera, holy crap. How many magnesium alloy cameras do you think Canon makes? The sky is falling.
-
About the only big edge the EVA1 has now on the Gh5s is that it can do 2K- FOUR-THIRDS FRAME 1-240fps while the GH5s only does 240fps in 1080p. I know the Codecs on the EVA1 are better and it has a 5.7 K sensor but hell give the lower ones Raw why really buy it other than the Slo Mo. Raw would even them out too much I think. Hell the EVA1 is like 3 times more money than a GH5s or more. Form factor as much as anything, lots of buttons handy. And the ND filters in the Pro. People are not going to stop buying Sony FS5, FS7's, Canon C300 mk II's just because the 4k BMPCC has come out. You still need a lot of real estate to rig a camera properly and the new BM sure isn't going to shine in that department. Big productions will still buy big camera bodies. They are more stable also because of the weight. Stronger mounts on them, on and on. Plus I don't think Clients are going to pay someone 1000 bucks an hour to shoot with a sort of Toy looking camera yet. But to stay competitive in the bigger camera market BM is going to have to raise their ISO on them like they have done with the new 4K BMPCC.

Interesting question on Redshark News. PiDicus Rex • an hour ago Watching another sites video, there was mention of Proxy quality recordings - wonder if the new camera would be capable out CineDNG raw to the external media, while doing proxy quality to an SD card ?
-
The Terra 4K is looking pretty overpriced compared to the new 4k BMPCC using the same sensor me thinks. But then so is everything else now to me.

Sony FS5 II announced with 4K 120fps RAW recording at NAB 2018
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
That camera has the ugliest Color Science ever made LoL. Yikes, not counting form factor is a ugly looking bastard. I can see why it is cheap! Your F3 is a thing of beauty both ways compared to that. If it wasn't for killer slow mo in them I doubt Sony would have sold 30 of them on Color Output.
