  1. The data rate for ProRes Raw is not that thigh. And from what i have seen it can be done as low as 10bit. So I don't see why it can't be done on the 2.0 HDMI spec.   2. I would imagine in this day and age pretty much every parent is taking videos. And they are probably doing it 90 % of the time or more with their Smartphones. Heck they are certainly good enough to do it with. Now how they are saving them, other to the cloud, well I bet they are not.
  3. From what I have read and seen looks like Atomos is the Only one that Apple has let utilize it yet. Is in in FCPX even yet? So I am sure Resolve will have it in there as soon as Apple opens up a License for it. More money for Apple, just what they need LoL.
  4. I am beginning to believe the photo mode on this camera will probably ens up being like the, what was it, the Oly EM mk II with a 4k Frame grab?? Probably will be in the 8mp range. Maybe not a frame grab, but I don't see how it can be much over 8mp. But hey that gets the job done for a lot of stuff. The sensor tops out at 10.7MP so it can't be more than. And I doubt that is even the effective output.

  7. There is a lot of people on here that have got, or owned the original BMPCC. I had one myself and have kicked myself in the ass for ever selling it.You just have to have used one to appreciate how fabulous the output on them were, are. And this camera makes it look like a model T. They are not made to run around like a chicken with your head cut off, they are a slow and steady as you go camera. They are mostly a tripod camera to get the best out of them, just like any Cine camera has to be for the most part. Sure there are rigs for them but they really were a pain in the butt to use. They have a look like no other camera under 5000 bucks or more. And this new one is even WAY better. Beating 10,000 dollar cameras. It is not for everyone that is for sure. But there are not many people on here if they had the extra money, would not buy one. You would not be on here big time if you didn't appreciate what this camera has to offer. It s that good, no AF, No IBIS, etc. And I think it does AF, probably not like a 1Dx mkII but.. This is a Special camera that few will buy, but they will be happy as a pig in shit for what it can output slow as it may be.. And no the Codec is not that bad, you have to be a bit talented to use it, but they can run on older MBP's and that is saying something LoL.
  8. Yeah I have an old Olympus EPL1 that has 2 or 3 axis IBIS in it. It does help some, but Like I have said I am a tripod guy, so I rarely need such a thing.
  9. Well I have to admit this camera is not going to be a walk in the park on auto LoL. And that is what is going to sperate it from the vast majority of people that would ever buy it or need it. But man this thing is so powerful on paper, I just don't see yet how they could do it for what it cost. Yeah I keep seeing bits here and there than it can AF maybe half well. I vcan't say I would not like it not to LoL. But I can see me using mostly MF older lenses on it. These new SLR Lenses look nice. But I could only afford maybe a couple. And I am not sure I would gain much over some damn good old Nikon's, etc. As I have stated there are plenty of cheap Gimbals now if you need IBIS, which I can see needing don't get me wrong. And to the ISO man 25,600 is up there for me .If I need more I will just use my A7s!
  10. Well I think you are not too up to speed about Codecs. If you think having more compressed data is a good thing well have a nice day. Hell don't buy it, that makes me higher up in the Que. And if AF and IBIS is important then buy a camera with it in it, but don't knock it because it doesn't have it. Christ 2 years ago nobody even heard of IBIS, how the hell did anybody ever shoot stuff? Buy a GH5 or a X-H1, it sounds like what would work for you.
  11. Well it has a fan in it so I don't see it overheating very easily. Seems a better solution than the GH5 to be honest. Although I have never heard of a problem with it.
  12. Hmm I guess I never looked at the new BM camera as a film making tool versus a Hybrid. I guess you could call it. You make good points. Yeah I don't think people are going to make a living shooting stills on one. Yeah I can see the VLogger thing now that you mention it. I guess they have to cater to it. Doubt they have a choice. Those swivel LCDs don't do shit for me, I can't see crap out of my left eye LoL. Now on my Panny AF100 it worked because I used my right eye to look into it when it swiveled out. But you are not going to do that hand holding a small camera. And I doubt I am going to V Log so. I realize for the average person this new BMPCC is not going to be their Only camera. Probably will be for me due to lack of money, but your right a Film Makers dream camera for peanuts.

  14. Yeah but you don't have to output in Raw, the higher ProRes stuff is super good codec wise. There is a lot of options to ProRes. And it runs well on Apple stuff. And heck they said you can even bake in your LuT in camera, I would assume in Raw also?? You just have to goof around like you would if it was a single photo like in Photoshop or Lightroom for Raw, I know the big boys go frame by frame but heck we are not going to do that unless you screw up pretty big time, and only then in certain scenes. These guys using ML on here are shooting in Raw. Big learning curve no doubt but not crazy hard..

  16. Well you surely are free to do what you want to do. But from this day and age there is no way in hell I am paying over 2 grand new for any DSLR Mirrorless camera ever. BM has changed the market yesterday forever. Sure it is not as full featured as most people would like. It is an odd duck as they say. But this is damned near a FS5 for 995.00. And for what it is missing doesn't cost thousands more to manufacture. BM had proved you can make money and charge peanuts compared to what the rest have charged. We have been ripped off like it or not for years apparently. It isn't ever going to be the same trust me pricing wise. It is not for the Vast majority of people. Not even a lot on here. But it is what it has for the cost is why it's important. It is groundbreaking in more than one way. This camera kicks the big boys in the crotch LoL.
  17. Canon made a cheap camera with ProRes, Raw? Canon fell into a Good pile of shit Only because of ML, not because they were giving it out. Canon, Jesus BM is so far ahead of Canon on not F ing people it is crazy. I am embarrassed to say the same two companys in the same sentence. You think Apple just gives the ProRes to BM. They have that cost over Canon to overcome also. Yeah Canon is just doing all of you a big fat favor to gimp their Codecs, Gimp their Sensors and sell you a 5D mk IV for 3400 bucks.. The Cool Aide stand is over there, in Canon land. If I was a Canon exec I would slit my wrists today. But like I have said, I can't afford several different systems. I can see this as a hell of a great learning tool, and a fabulous way to output it with on the cheap. Why not.

  19. Its going to be damn hard to sell a Sony A7s mk III for over 3000 bucks, it just is I don't care what it has in it. They were probably happy as hell to see Panny, Oly and Fuji push up the price to 2000 bucks and more, but now, shit. I mean people that have a lot of Sony FE lenses, well they will buy it, they are in it for the long haul. And they can probably afford to buy the BMPCC 4k to boot. But it has to hurt sales on it. It just proves to me how cheap you can really make a damn good camera in this day and age. If I paid 3 grand or more now I would feel like I am getting raped with this BM announcement.
  20. Man a OG one seems like pure torture compered to this one. But you can really slip one in your pocket with a little c-mount lens on one. That can be an advantage for sure.
  21. I think it is just a Record button, but yeah it would be nice at times to change it. But since it is there you can use your index finger, maybe thumb I think to get to it when holding it. Just another way to trigger it. Hmm you might be right, it has the same looking logo on it. I guess we will find out soon enough when someone review it. Where is David when you need him! In the specs the diagram is showing both as a Record button, and there is a Stills button also. Not sure if this has a real Shutter button?? Maybe it toggles when you hit the stills button to be a shutter button??
  22. Trouble is with this camera is we are going to have to Produce some damn good footage out of it, or it will be our fault, probably not he cameras fault. Yikes. I have sort of an excuse, I am old. Emanuel you do not, I have seen how old you are LoL. Somehow I don't see a Cannes Lion in my future. But you never know.
  23. Yeah but that is more damn money and a big ass thing hanging off the camera, batteries lasting 30 minutes on the recorder.. Hell I am not going to use Raw for shit either. Too much work, too much disk space. I am going to use plain old ProRes. It is just a nicer codec to work with.
  24. Well yeah ProRes in the BM is what makes it happen. So yeah if the GH5s had it it would, other than the 5" screen a few other bits, it probably would be a better way to go no doubt. But it is nearly 3 times the money without the Resolve. I think we are going to see who has pissed off Apple the most on who they will give a license too LoL. Maybe Apple will be greedy and give it to Anyone!
