Well this is the original one on steroids! So yeah I think the 1080p will look a lot more cinematic probably than 4k is ever going to look like, but we haven't seen it so. Not counting the data usage 4k will bring. I would imagine people will down rez to 1080p from 4k for serious stuff, lesser codec for Vimeo, YouTube, etc..

Well I can understand this, it is not for everybody, but for a hell of a lot of people on this web site we now know what the hell camera we are going to have under the Christmas tree. If you are into video big time I can't see how you can not buy this camera. It is that good. My problem is I can't afford two camera systems. So whatever this new BM does, that is what I am doing LoL. My Sony A7s is on the block as they say. Can't afford both systems. This helps a lot anyways. I can't afford hardly any native Sony FE lenses but I can afford a lot of the used m4/3, and this way I can go back to using B4 lenses on it again.

Yeah but now in a sense Jon we don't even Need a Atomos recorder anymore. It is all in camera, the same Codec the Atomos has, It is 10, 12 bit output. Heck you can hook up a SSD right to it also, that is what is the big ass deal with this camera. We don't even need a 5" monitor now, this thing is a game changer. I can tell you all these other company's better be worried, real damn worried. Just on the price of this thing alone, not counting the stats it has. Why the hell would I buy a A7 mk III right now if I am into video big time? A Gh5s either? Ain't happening, and it is half the price. Like I said I think the A7s mk III is going to have to be the best thing since sliced bread and it better cost 1800 bucks to boot.

We don't know if it is the one in the GH5 or the GH5s for sure. Hell it could be a whole new to them sensor for all we know. And they both take a different booster to work best. We don't know if it's multi aspect, on and on. We don't even know the MP of it I think. Guessing I think it probably is the same as in the GH5s. But it sure is a guess LoL.

Well trouble is we are not sure yet what Sensor this thing really has. So different Speedboosters for each one. And well Nikon or Canon, I would go Canon, but if you are into MF well Nikon MF lens better for that. And about cinematic images my thought is that the newer lenses are Too damn good. I like the old film lenses, lot more character to them. Sort of like the old Zeiss CP.2's, not that I can afford one, let alone a set LoL.

Has Anyone found out the sensor MP and the MP for the Photo mode? is the the 11, 12mp in the GH5s, or 20mm like in the GH5, or maybe 8mp stills like just using 4k etc. etc.

Well Jon is right, this camera is not right for the vast majority of people. It has too complex of a Codec for the average person for one reason. And I really doubt AF will be great, not that the GH5 is special either, and no IBIS is a bummer for a lot of people now. I must admit it would have been nice to have it. I am a tripod guy so in reality you have to turn it off on one, so no biggy to me it's not there. But this Run n Gun trying to get Stabilization and AF right all the time I think is a bridge too far. Not a big fan of the Flying look and wonky looking AF that can happen when you push it too far. Now I don't want to see motion like crazy either. But different strokes for different folks. I mean I will probably buy a stabilizer for mine if I get one. There are times it works no doubt.

Well I will agree this new BM is not for everyone that is for damn sure. It is not going to be a speed camera, or probably one you take on a trip of a lifetime. But this is a gift from heaven. This is a miracle and the price, I just can't believe it. It is most peoples dream camera on here, at least it is mine. This thing just made my Sony A7s look very Damn Old. And it is a killer camera. And for me it is 995. I was going to buy the full blown Resolve anyways even before this came out.

The Codec in this thing is Miles ahead of all the cameras I listed. This thing is a Pro piece of equipment. If this thing would have cost 3000 dollars I think it would be a bargain. The people that are going to buy this camera are Not going to loose one minutes sleep that Maybe it doesn't have AF-C in it. Hell maybe it does, I don't care if it doesn't. Plus I take lots of Legal prescription Drugs. And some of them are Pretty damn desirable on the street. I am sure you do also. ProRes is top stuff. This is a list of the items that use it. The a7 III, X-H1 and GH5* are all competitively priced when you can buy this for 995, I want some of your drugs! They are Twice the price!

I am really surprised that they did not include mini SDI ports on this thing. That would have been Killer. And it is hard to see in the pictures but other than width this thing really is small enough for Run n Gun stuff. No IBIS but hey they are giving the thing away the way it is. Man Panny, Olympus, Fuji, and Sony have been sticking it to us haven't they! If a little company like BM can make money selling this thing for, in reality at 995 bucks, wow what the hell has Sony been making on the A7rxx bodies?? In this day and age a FF sensor isn't that much more money to produce.

Can't be any more stupid than people using a Canon 6D mk II to V Log LoL. I don't think this camera is really any bigger than a GH5 is it?

They just get in the way of all the stuff you have on the sides. They are not a practical thing for hard, heavy use, fast usage. And a 5" one, that would look crazy. Be happy with what they are giving us, Jesus it is only 1000 bucks! Sadly we are back to no camera is perfect for everyone. But I think if you are serious about Video this is the one.

I am sure this thing has AF. My AF100 was the same way, it had a push to AF button on it and it AF'ed fine, actually pretty well.. It was just a thing to force it to focus on what you wanted not what it wanted LoL.

I am old school. I use a Tripod so I see no real reason for either of them to be honest. But for run n gun sure that might work, or V Loging having a Twisty screen. I think BM is pushing this as much as a studio, interview type camera on a tripod. This really is a new BMCC to be honest. And that was never a run n gun setup.

As old as I am the 5" screen alone is worth the price of admission. And the BM operating system is just way better than Panasonic. Now if you want Anamorphic well I guess you stay with Panny.

You are right. Blackmagic is not only trying to kill others' cameras, they are trying to kill the other NLE's. Blackmagic Wants to Be the Standard. And they damned well might just be with all this new stuff for hardly any money. Right now I can't think of a camera I would want more than this new 4k one then a True Cine camera for at least 6000 bucks minimum. That is pretty crazy when you think about it.

Yeah I kind of doubt Panasonic is going to add ProRes to the GH5.

It will probably be one touch MFT autofocus like the BMPCC had.
