Have you ever tried Neat Video? I have found it does help with anti-aliasing some. It is not it main goal, but it seems to make about anything look better. I admit it can make some stuff too good if you are looking for a filmic look! But you can adjust it to your liking. No plug in for Resolve though. https://www.neatvideo.com/home

LoL that would be a understatement from Hell. Seems to me on some shots it does look better and some the same. But yeah it is an improvement, and you can't take sort of bad footage look perfect. You deserve a Big thumbs up just for knowing how to Use avisynth! I gave up pretty quick. I would be dead from old age before I figured it out.

Avid is Incredibly complex compared to FCP. But it has all of the VFX stuff people need. There is probably a few people on here that use Avid, and hopefully chime in. I sure am not a wiz at Avid Codecs. I have dealt with them a few times years ago, friend of mine had it, and Tried to teach it to me..Gulp!
-
Yeah QuickTime and Windows arn't exactly in love with each other LoL. Well I guess it depends on how little the Client is willing to accept. I know they archive most of the stuff also, so they aren't wanting 8k Raw that is for sure! Hmm. Yeah the 145 middle ground would be the best overall option going Avid. So yeah I think that is maybe your Only real option unless you want to buy a Hard Drive company! From Avid's website. "Avid DNxHD 145 8-bit media delivers very high HD image quality while requiring approximately 20% less storage capacity than 8-bit uncompressed ITU-R BT.601 standard definition media" Plus if a person can afford it, and that is a BIG if LoL, Avid is the way to go for Broadcast and Movie content. It's the standard of both industry's. Way out of my affordability.
-
What Video Editor you using? You must be shooting a Lot of material to use ProRes LT 1080i as your output? And DNxHR is only usable on Avid to edit right? Kind of limiting. That is the Only thing Broadcast takes?

Damn Jon that camera lens combo might be Too damn good! Pretty amazing looking for something a "normal" person can afford to buy.

Wow some of those cars where back in my hay day LoL. I was a Crew Chief, Mechanic on a D sports racer, and a B sports racer class, different owners, in SCCA back in the mid early to mid 70's. I dove a Formula V racer for a bit. I sucked at it LoL. I was better turning wrenches on them than driving one. Went all over the US for races with them. We won the Central Division once with the D sports racer in 1972 I think it was. That stuff was a Lot of fun, but damn time consuming getting them ready to race, and driving there and back. I don't know if any of you watch that show "Chasing Classic Cars", but the old guy, my age LoL, he Might be a bit older, the mechanic Richard on it, was a Unbelievable Formula V driver at the same time I was in it with SCCA. He was just about unbeatable. But he was a super nice guy, helped anyone that needed it. I think he drove a formula B Brabham BT16 a few times also? I would have killed for that race car LoL. It would have killed me I guess! My best friend and I used to race enduro Go Karts, they were fast as hell. I have a single engine that would do 120 mph on the straights, he had a twin engine one that would do 150 mph! , and he bought a Gurney Formula A race car, # 001, the first one ,Gurney Eagle Formula A, he Ever made. It had a Chevy 302 with Hilborn Injection on it. We drove from Ohio to California to pick it up. It was used, well used LoL but a beautiful car, Red as hell, it was blue and white to start with. I dove it a few times and it was scary as hell. We had it a few times up to 180 mph. He was a Lot better at it than I was was so he drove thank God! Crazy times. He was 4 years younger than I am, and just died of Cancer a few years ago. Scary stuff Cancer. The car looked pretty much like this one. Hell could even be it for all I know? Sure looks the same other than the color. It had side Pods on it when we bought it. Had to, due to rules changes. Before he bought it it had been wrecked at Laguna Seca and ended up in a Tree!! It had been repaired before we bought it and raced after. We talked to Dan Gurney a bunch of times on the phone. He was a damn nice guy.

Canon Full Frame Mirrorless is just around the corner?
webrunner5 replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
I Think it was either 1998 or 1999? I bought it from a camera store in Cincinnati, Ohio. The person traded it in for a DCS 560. I traded in my last 2 Hasselblad bodies and lenses for it. My wife and I, on the side, were doing model portfolios and it just seemed like the way to go at the time. And at that time most model agencies wanted prints in B&W, and wow film was Hard to get right at the time consistently, and the DCS 460 had just a beautiful B&W output with the Hot Mirror off. And they only needed 8x10 prints for the model agencies from the models. And the 460 could do that easy, and quick also. We had a full blown Dark Room at the house, and a photo, video studio, but it was time consuming compared to digital, and really pretty expensive with mistakes, and well trying to get the best results. We might take 50 shots or more , and that is a LOT of developing, printing effort. So the 460 paid for its self pretty quick. Plus we were doing a few weddings yet, not many by then, we wanted a couple of Weekends off LoL. Plus we were doing video ads for local company's, so we needed as fast of a turnaround as we could get. We jumped on the digital era as fast as we could. I was lucky my wife was as crazy as I was about photography, Video. But she died of cancer like I said before, in 2002, and I just lost my desire to go on with it. She was 50% of the engine that made it happen. I could not have done it if I wanted too. Plus I had 1 young son at home yet. So I gave up all the Photo, Video stuff and just moved on as they say. We were Too busy to be honest. I sort of blame myself to this day that maybe all the stress caused the Cancer with her. Hell I don't know. Hell I had a heart attack myself 4 years earlier from running my Excavation Company. Stress will kill your ass I can tell you that. We were about as busy as you can get. And in our mid 50's. Too old for all that shit on paper. My advice is to live as simple and debt free as you can. Having Lots of money isn't worth shit if you are gimped up or dead. It really is not worth it. But there are all kinds of people in the world, some can never stop working, and others who would rather not work at all LoL. It is what makes the world interesting. Be happy with a BMPCC or a GH4, A7s, unless you are making a living with Video. And if you are making a living doing it, well then you are going to be in a Never ending race for having to have the next best camera out there to stay on top! Been there done that! Not much to write home to Mother about at the end of the day when you get old and look back at it. Times goes fast as hell, but if you are enjoying what you do fine, but if you aren't, well you are wasting your precious time. -
Out of likes. Yeah I am not in the market, but I think what they come out with will effect Sony A7 sales for years to come with the A7s mk III. It is going to have to be damn special, almost ground breaking to be honest, to hurt the GH5, GH5s, and heck even the Fuji X-H1. All 3 have made a hell of an impact on the lower end video community. The Olympus EM1 mk II has just not taken off in the video world. No real surprise, but the Fuji to me is. Sony has their hands full here, no doubt about that. They hit a home run with the A7 mk III, but they need to hit a grand slam with the A7s mk III.
-
Wow all three of these shots look like they came from a large sensor in Raw output! Just crazy good work with them, and BM is just amazing for what they produce output wise for the cost of these cameras. Damn it I Need to buy another one! They are that good.
-
Yeah but with the GH5s Panasonic has narrowed the gap overnight from 4x on low light and maybe DR. And with the oversized sensor in it, and a Speedbooster on it, the gap is pretty small now DoF wise. I would be worried if I was Sony on the A7s mk III, and I am a big Sony fan. I think Sony Has to have 10 bit and 4k 60p or why bother, and people are probably right, it is going to take a bigger body to do it. They have their tit in the ringer as they say with it. The A7 mk III has pushed them further than they probably wanted. But the threat of a Nikon Canon Mirrorless had to be a factor. I just don't think they expected the GH5s. Well maybe they did IF they made the sensor for it. I guess we will find out sooner than later what they will bring to the table..
-
I think you are just seeing "Whitecaps" through the trees. That is the only thing I see.
-
Wow, they just have that look to them. Well done. So is it the 60p you like, form factor, or does it have a different look to it you like better output wise over the BMPCC?
-
There is this ungraded RXO footage to play with, I would presume S Log 2, which is on Vimeo from the comments. Not too fond of no auto focus during video recording! .
-
Found this rig setup on cinema5d. They have a damn nice video taken with it. https://***URL not allowed***/sony-rx0-review-sample-footage-and-first-impressions/

Yeah I have no clue why there is not one Really good 5" recorder. They all seem to be 7". They are stupid to use for Mirrorless cameras.
-
Damn it why did you start this. Something else to possibly buy! This thing is damn interesting to be sure.. But sort of like a BMPCC, by the time you rig it out thingy!
-
Damn nice write up noone. Out of likes.

I just sold my Moon Dog Labs lens to someone on here who won't be mentioned LoL. Yeah it is close to the build of it no doubt. I know the Moon Dog Labs lens was pretty damn good on my iPhone 6s plus with the Filmic Pro app. Poor mans Anamorphic. Be interesting to see a side by side comparison down the road.
-
Hard to tell with the GH5s seeming to be a TON sharper? And why the hell don't these review sites take the damn pictures at the same time side by side???? I am sure they are not an hour apart, but they are at different times on a cloudy day. And no, I am not disputing that the GH5s "might" have more DR, it is that it is damn hard to tell if it IS true LoL.

Speaking of DPR, I found this Very interesting in the Reply Section to an article about the Sony A7 mk III. "JochenIs Manufacturers do not comply with the ISO standard. Newer cameras of the same manufacturer tend to have slightly less actual ISO at the same ISO settings to make the newer camera look better at the same ISO setting. Also different manufacturers might have different actual ISO. To future proof measurements and make them comparable to other brands we should measure the provided brightness at each ISO setting. Also interesting does the shift of ISO setting change at the dual gain breakpoint? Reply 3 days ago Rishi Sanyal The ISO rating does not matter. It has zero relevance to actual photography. What matters is the image quality, or noise level, when the camera is given a certain amount of light. That's why in our studio scene we always give every camera the same amount of total scene light at any given manufacturer ISO setting. This means that whenever you're comparing ISO X on one camera to ISO X on the camera, no matter how the manufacturer rated their ISO, you are comparing like for like. Both cameras are working with the same amount of light. In fact, it's quite likely that in the future our reviews and measurements won't even talk about ISO numbers and, instead, only report on image quality at certain light levels. Ultimately, that's what matters, not whether some manufacturer is 'lying' about its ISO. Manufacturers aren't 'lying', it's just that there are many different standards for reporting ISO value." I am no expert either on it, but I have seen on average most cameras that have the ability to shoot Raw has around a 3 stop advantage DR wise over a "normal" Codec using it. I Think it has to do obliviously with the Codec, but in reality most Raw is 12 bit, 14 bit, even higher. I just don't think you can get true 16 stops of DR or more out of a camera that doesn't shoot Raw, at least that's the way I see it. But, but the highest ProRes settings do jump up there DR wise, but they are higher than 8bit, 10 also. So on paper 10 bit Ought to be better than 8bit, on and on.

Yeah nobody is going to say Fuji doesn't have their Color Science right LoL.Even me. Jesus just too many good options out as of late. If you had some glass for one would be hard to turn it down. I am still not sold to start from scratch for a APSC system. And for Photo stuff I Need good AF. But I have no clue how good it is for that. I know in video it could be a lot better, but same with the GH5.
