  1. Well this statement is from the Atomos Flame, a recorder that was pretty much made to order for the Panasonic GH5. And using it does give you the option to have higher quality footage to edit than you can do internally. But you pretty much have to have a Apple computer to do it. ProRes does not like PC's. And Avid is Crazy expensive to own. "Recording 4K and high frame rate HD within the camera might seem enough but unless you record with the right codec you're restricting flexibility in post and even run the risk of having your footage technically rejected. Along with the high pixel density of 4K, the Ninja Flame records higher resolution 10-bit color information, more precise yet efficient 4:2:2 color encoding and to visually lossless, edit-ready codecs like Apple ProRes or AVID DNxHR."
  2. Well for 60p it jumps right up there though. Slo Mo Hell.
  3. Go to page 21, and 22 to see the data rates. 8k is pretty damn scary LoL! https://images.apple.com/final-cut-pro/docs/Apple_ProRes_White_Paper.pdf
  4. What camera you guys using? Looks really nice. Well done.
  5. I think jpfilmz is talking about the buggy LiveView on the LCD that still has some problems. It is probably better now since this statement was written by A1ex. From A1ex : April 1st, 2017. Where's the catch? This is only a very rough proof of concept. It has not been battle-tested and has many quirks. Some of them may be easy to fix, others not so. In particular: * It feels quite buggy. I'm still hunting the issues one by one, but it's hard, as Canon's LiveView implementation is very complex, and our understanding on how it works is still very limited. * Write speeds are high. For example, 10-bit 4096x2500 at 15 fps requires 180 MB/s. 1080p45 should be a little more manageable at 111 MB/s. * Canon preview is broken in most modes; you need to use the grayscale preview in the raw recording module. * High-resolution modes (in particular, full-res LiveView) may cause trouble with memory management. This is very tricky to solve, as we only get 3 full-resolution buffers in LiveView, with restrictions on the order in which they must be freed, and lots of other quirks. * Since these settings were pushed to limit, the risk of corrupted frames is high. If it happens, decrease the vertical resolution a bit (from the crop_rec submenu). * When refreshing LiveView settings, the camera might lock-up (no idea why). Pressing MENU twice appears to fix it.
  6. I think he means the view on the LCD?
  7. Pretty good review of one here. If you have the money looks like the Oly is the way to go. https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/micro-four-thirds-lenses/olympus-m-zuiko-25mm-f1-2-pro-vs-panasonic-leica-25mm-f1-4/
  8. Out of likes. I think Andrew is giving out less every week! That is a serious video for a cellphone! Well done!
  9. Yeah I am using a Sony battery grip on my A7s, and I also have one of those extension ones you can flip to 90 degrees on a tripod. My Pinky finger hangs over without them. But I do like the option to be able to use it either way. The A7xx cameras are an amazingly small package for FF. I love them. I would love to have a Nikon D850 for an all arounder for travel, hobby. But man if you put any sort of Long native zoom on them they are just embarrassingly huge! Really m4/3 is sort of the only way to go if you are into long lenses. They are amazingly compact and pretty damn light. Ehh in my case I am getting way too big LoL.
  10. I can kind of see it for photos but I am too big of a fan of it in Video. 8mm, 16mm stuff really looked like shit compared to what we have today. And I am really not a fan of the turquoise coloring from hell in modern stuff that tries to look like 8mm. But I can see why younger people want to try and relive it. It did, does have a quirky look to it.
  11. Man if I was rich I would buy this kit. https://***URL removed***/news/5517695718/nikon-d850-filmmakers-kit-includes-atomos-ninja-flame-three-lenses-and-two-microphones
  12. Pretty crazy. When I was young we busted our ass to try and get rid of Grain, and now every wants to add it!
  13. The main reason I see using them is to make damn fast lenses even faster. You take the Sigma 1.8 lenses and put them on a Speedbooster, you are a happy camper. And a ASPC camera as a whole are cheaper to buy, and the native lenses for them are a lot cheaper than their FF counterparts. Plus the overall package probably weighs less on average also. Win, Win.
  14. Yikes that kind of sucks, hmm. Yeah you Have to have the Laea 4 adapter to use FF. And they are not cheap! Doesn't sound like it is worth it.

    Lenses

Now this is a Lens! Camera looks like a A6300.
  16. Not sure this has been posted yet? Looks pretty good on their review. https://***URL removed***/reviews/fujifilm-x-h1/11
  17. Which one for video is not so good?? Ahh, I guess you are saying the Sigma is not so hot. That sucks, it is half the price! But isn't neither one of them so hot for video, yeah I can see both good for Photos. Speaking of that, has anyone used the Sony Alpha Adapters on a say A7s with much success using Alpha lenses? There is some damn good, cheap Alpha lenses on Amazon that would be sweet if they worked worth a damn. Most are Zeiss to boot.
  18. Wow that is Crazy Good. Out of likes. Damn.
  19. Pictures or it never happened! I guess Links on here apply.
  20. Whole lot cheaper to clean a Sensor than replace a shutter. It is scary close to the opening.
  21. Interesting on the 35mm crop. Hmm. Way out of my price range though.
  22. That is really not too bad of a crop. Canon owners should be so lucky! I think the crazy thing I read about with a certain Speedbooster on the Panny GH5s you can get to almost a FF mode. That is impressive if I read that right. Not sure what mode though, 1080p, 2k, 4k, all? I read so damn much I can't keep up with it all. One of the benefits of being retired, one of the very few other than being able to sleep in every day!!
  23. Sorry I have no clue. I believe even the A7r mkIII is even cropped in 4k @ 30p if I am not mistaken, or is that the A7 mk III? I think it is the latter.
  24. Yeah but you can buy a Sony A7xxx camera and shoot FF or crop mode, s35. Best of both worlds. I really can't see a reason to actually buy a APSC only camera. Not even going the Speedbooster route with one. That way you can take advantage of both kinds of Native lenses. The low light on them is pretty scary good, as is the AF on the later ones, FF DoF. Win, Win, Win, Win. There is just no FF roadmap with the Fuji. Not the end of the world, but not great either. I am not too sure they even make a Speedbooster for a Fuji do they? If so why not?
  25. Speaking of videos. Not sure where to put this. But man you people in England have a national treasure with these waterways. This is some cool stuff. I would have to own one of these if I lived there. But I am sure they are not cheap. We have Canals in the US but they are not manicured to that extent, or that old I would imagine. This guy is damn good also with making a video. Beautiful scenery also. I have no clue what camera he shot it on. The story is so good, who cares. I don't know what camera shot the one above that is so great. Again, who cares. It's all about the story.
