Honest question. Why would you pay 1500 bucks for a SmallHD 7" monitor with a 1000 nits when you can buy a Atomos 4k Recorder with 1500 nits for the same money or a lot less with the Flame?? I mean everyone sort of Needs a Recorder. And you don't Have to record with it.

This article is about TV's but it has a lot of good info in it about HDR, and well 8 bit Ain't cutting it. Sorry. https://dgit.com/4k-hdr-guide-45905/ And this article is probably more than you want to read LoL. But some Really good stuff in it. Even I understand a little about it. http://www.murideo.com/news/what-you-need-to-know-about-uhdtv-hdr-hlg-wcg

Oh I will give you the fact that that is not a typical Fuji output. Because the X-H1 doesn't have the Exposure dial on top to bump out of place. I don't know, who does. But I will give the guy some slack as it its hard as hell to do a proper side by side and get it all right. But he should have seen it was pretty far off. No Fuji looks that bad without an error of some kind. But it is a new camera, has to have some bugs in it.They are good with firmware updates just like Olympus. Hell I just about pass out when I look at the price of even Used Native lenses for the Sony A7s I just bought. Sure can't afford PL lenses, or even a Cine body to put them on! I am not going to ever make a dime on what I buy anymore, and on Social Security and 2 small pensions my buying anything I use to see are gone forever. I will admit IF I was in the market for a Cine camera for the money I would Have to look into the Kinefinity lineup. The price is tempting, but man with the C200, and the EVA1 out, and used FS5, FS7's out there, Heck even used Reds in that range, I am sort of glad I Don't have the money LoL. With no real good track record I still am skeptical about them. I mean you just can't screw up in that kind of price range unless you have a budget from heck or are rich. Can you get them anywhere to even rent? And to make matters even worse my 93 year old mother fell down and broke her leg clean through, had to have plates put in it and looks like she will Never walk again. And if you can't walk you Can't go to the bathroom. That is a pretty big problem! And just got the word that insurance stopped paying for her stay in the Rest home she is in, they don't pay for very long and even less if there is no real hope for progress down the road, so there goes all her money, stocks, car and House. And me and my brother will probably get Zero inheritance. So kiss that goodby. I am telling you guys this because if your parents are old, or if you are old and have a spouse, if you don't have this stuff, at least here in the USA all down in writing 5, yeah 5 years before this happens you are F ing screwed, They will take the house, and I mean right down to loosing every F ing penny of what you or your parents worked for all your life. The Government, Medicare, Takes it all. It cost at a minimum of 7 to 10 thousand dollars a Month to stay in a nursing home, rest home. what ever you want to call it. That is like $120,000.00 are damn year!! That is what it will cost for her where she is. And that is not the most expensive place there is by far. And you can't move any big money around after it happens because they do a 5 year super audit on their income to see if you tried to hide some big money. And by big i mean 2 thousand dollars or more. So you Ain't going to get shit if that person lives for 3, 4 years or more. I don't care if you are rich. The money Will be gone, all of it. So plan ahead, it is not if it will happen it is when and you know at the least we all die, but how quick do we do it. You CAN NOT wait till the last minute like me, and thousands of others do. It will be all pissed away. Crazy but true.

Only Fuji I have ever had is a F20 P&S which I still use at times. Thing must be 15 years old. The Fuji shots to me looked way too white to be natural. I Lived in Florida for 12 years and I know what some of those business building look like. And my Monitor is calibrated, so to me they are overexposed and the GH5 looked pretty spot on.. But yeah maybe it is a compromise between the two. I have Never really liked the Fuji look, not even their Medium Format stuff. It to me is too over the top. They won't be getting my money anytime soon.
-
Colors wise the GH5s looks Way more realistic to me. Really looks like the Fuji is overexposed? Neither one of those profiles needs to be even graded as far as I know. You can grade anything, but I never did too much in Cine D.

Nice chart for Canon lenses. https://***URL removed***/products/canon/lenses?subcategoryId=lenses

Really good article about Mirrorless Electrical Adapters that just came out 2 days ago.

Only Canon can be so damn stupid. What the hell is wrong with them!!! God they really are risking, other than @mercer buying a camera from them losing the farm.
-
LoL. The new body style is a lot better. I don't think Sony ever designed the A7 series cameras to have a 100-400mm lens or bigger hanging off of them. With a small prime you can stick one in your coat pocket. That is pretty amazing. And with the crop mode in it and Clear Zoom, damn you have like 3 lenses in one using it.
-
Nice video. But it looks like you have a Hell of a lot of "White Noise" in it LoL.
-
Out of likes, but great write up, and would be hard to add anything to your reply. But I am pretty sure any of the more talented people could take a iphone and make it look damn near as good as a Cine camera with time. These big movie studios have pretty much everything going for them. Nearly endless talent at every turn. It would be Hard to screw up stuff unless the script or the budget just sucks.

Addressing some of the myths around Sony a6300-MINI a7sII??!??
webrunner5 replied to flip21's topic in Cameras
Out of Likes, good explanation. But even film had noise in it. And people will argue that noise in Digital Cameras emulates the look of Film and hides some artifacts. So I guess some noise is a good thing. A win, win or a lose, lose thingy. I know the old CCD sensor cameras got worse and worse the longer you had them on from heat accumulation in them. But I still do love the look of a CCD Sensor. The Original Olympus E1 was just beautiful. And the Kodak DCS 460 CCD camera I had Way back in the day was gorgeous also. Amazing camera at the time. Amazing price brand new, like 27,000 bucks. -
Is a7R II in Super 35 Better than a6500 / a6300?
webrunner5 replied to Mark Romero 2's topic in Cameras
Well not sure what I really meant either LoL. All I know it appears to be quite a bit better. One way to help with the Rolling Shutter problem. And since I just bought one it is a way to improve it. -

webrunner5 replied to Mark Romero 2's topic in Cameras
Well I found that video I was talking about less Rolling Shutter with a Speedbooster on a FF camera. The Sony A7s to be specific. It starts right around 28:00 into the video. It is a definite Big change. -

Now you are just trying to make sense Kidz! What camera you shoot that video on. Looks damn good. -
Probably Japan yes. Here I kind of doubt it. Sell those 100 lenses you have acquired you never use Glenn. Heck I might buy a few from you.
-
Yeah I can tell you I will probably only buy 2 at the most Native Sony lenses. My son is thinking of buying a Sony A7r mk II so we might be able to swing a few more of them. But I have a fully electronic EF to Nec adapter with ND filters in it, so I may go Canon EF lenses on it. Yeah Sony lenses are big bucks no doubt. I have maybe 6 different something to Nec adapters left over form my A7, A7r days. So I will go even maybe a few Cine lenses for it? I have given up on the m4/3 thingy. And yes I really do like the GH5s, but I am going to do the Sony A7s route, the mk II, maybe even the mk III if I live long enough LoL. And no I am not going to buy a damn Canon FF mirrorless. I am not going to reward them with my money for just dragging their feet for years now. Sony has tried hard to push the envelope, and I will reward them, not Canon.

I don't even think Soccer Moms buy "real" cameras anymore. They use their Smartphones. Crappy cameras are a total thing of the past. Other than 12 year old girls in Japan buying the white version of this I really see no market for it. Other than being able to change lenses, which most average people never buy anything but the kit lens, I see nothing a Smartphone can't do over this for the average person..

This a is all true, but..if you want to keep this camera Long Term, you might be screwed. More and more places are going to require true 4k. That is probably why the Ursa mini Pro is 4.6k, why Kinefinity makes a 5k, 6k model. Heck even the GH5, EVA1 is larger than Just 4k. And probably for a damn good reason. I am not going to buy a Kinefinity, you guys know my stance on new company's. But I just don't want people to blindly go into this either. There are real consequences down the road I see with this particular model maybe. It's your money, not mine.
-
One problem I see, I may be wrong, is this camera has a 4k sensor, no more, no less. But you really can't get a true 4k output using a 4k sensor. So say for Netflix, etc, it might not meet the true standard as a 4k video camera.

Zak ought to be able to chime in on this. I know he did reply in this thread. Doesn't he do this stuff as sort of a living? He has to be more qualified to answer this stuff more than me LoL. I just bought the Original Sony A7s, haven't received it yet, noone you are not alone anymore, so yeah I am stuck with 8 bit unless I win the Lotto to buy a external recorder that cost damn near as much as I paid for the camera.
-
On the end where he is using that duster on the green screen he says there IS a big difference between 8 bit and 10 bit internal, compared to external, and states he doesn't know why??? WTF LoL. How many of us shoot with a external recorder, not many of us. So to me he is Way off to advertise there is no reason to go 10 bit, or even 4.2.2 video! If that was the case nobody in the world would ever buy a External Recorder. Atomos would be out of business. Now I know he states IF you don't use a LuT or basically edit the footage, well who doesn't do that other than grandma. I used to follow that guy years ago, but he seems to not be as reliable as he should be to state a bunch of stuff on there that he is not a wiz at. And lets face it hardly anyone is a wiz at all aspects of video.
