Sony A7R III review - the BBC fixed Sony's colour!
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Other than for drone work I would rather have a Sony FS7 over the FS5. Overall a better machine. But they have made some good updates to the FS5 as of late. I am sure a mk II is in the works. The FS7 mk II is a hell of a camera. With the EVA1 and the C200 out Sony Has to come up pretty big on the mk II FS5. Or Lower the price. -
Sony A7R III review - the BBC fixed Sony's colour!
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeah but the A7s model is really Only bought by people mostly for Video. I can't see how a few might not be swayed toward the GH5s. The A7r mkIII is 3300 bucks. What if it isn't 10 bit. That HDMI shit to me sucks on a mirrorless camera. Hell you want a small package and not Have to add a Atomos to it. That is why you bought a small camera, to stay small. Not counting how much that cost. Sure on a Arri Alexa who cares if a 7" monitor is hanging off of it. I somewhat doubt Sony can get 10 bit out of the same body size without it overheating every 5 minutes. I think Sony keep screwing themselves making the body so dam small. If you are over 200 pounds you can barely put your hand between the grip and a faster, or longer lens. It is like my RX10 I bought, hell I can't even use it. The knurling on the lens kills my index finger. You can make stuff too damn small. But I am pretty sure the A7s mk III will probably be using a sensor type like that is in the GH5s. But I have no clue how gaining even more ISO is going to make them that much better than they are now for the average ISO you normally use. I guess 25.000 could look like 1600 ISO. Sure that would be nice. But I guess we will see. I am sure it will not be junk. They Have to pick up the pace with this new GH5s. And most mirrorless cameras are bought by 12 years old girls in Japan. I doubt they are worried about 10 bit. They are worried if you can get it in Pink or Yellow. What are you doing up this late Glenn! -
Advice on eBay anamorphic lens listing (No advertising)
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I agree, I think there is more Anamorphic stuff floating around now than there ever was. And a good bit of it is really not that much money. Heck that stuff was Never cheap. Now single focus 35mm stuff well you can forget that. -
Sony A7R III review - the BBC fixed Sony's colour!

Not too sure what the question is? ehh you can buy a Gh5 for 2 grand. Other than 4k 60p it is 10bit. Not sure I mentioned anything about a 2 grand Panny price. Just close to 4 grand probably for a A7s mk III. -

I would say Sony Has to do it now between the GH5 and the GH5s. They Can't come out with 8bit anymore ,and they need to up the FPS just like he said. Sony's tit is in a ringer if this new A7s mk III doesn't have all that, not sure about the Anamorphic, but they had better pick up the pace because Panny has pushed them hard this week. You know and I know the A7s will be bumping on 4 grand. It Has to be good, I say Way better than the A7r mk III. Now that the GH5s proves is doesn't Have to be FF to be good in low light the pressure is on. The FF myth has lost a Lot of it's edge this week. You don't Have to buy a Sony now. And m4/3 having I argue better DoF, by that I mean more, and damn near as good low light, why do you Need a FF Sony now, and pay more money. I argue even Panny Color Science now is as good or even better than Sony. This new GH5s is a Game Changer that is for sure. Canon and Nikon trying to bring out a FF mirrorless probably pooped their pants when the heard abut it on the video side. They will sell them to Photographers but for video, hmm good luck. -
Not a method I would want to Overuse in a video, but defiantly able to do unique stuff the break up the Same O Same O routine. https://nofilmschool.com/2017/12/check-out-awesome-method-making-your-own-camera-transitions

I hope the above is tongue in check.

Interesting thread at DPR. I wasn't aware Olympus didn't design, manufacture all of their Lenses. https://***URL removed***/forums/thread/4244388

I am not too sure anyone can make a FF mirroless as small as Sony can. It is on the verge of overheating almost all the time. I doubt Nikon has the engineering knowledge to overcome what Sony in reality can't, and Physics to boot. And man Sony is so Far ahead of Canon, Nikon on a FF Mirrorless camera I don't see how they can ever catch up. And to come out with all new lenses, whew I don't envy them. I think they maybe have shit around too long. I am not saying they will flop, but to be a leader in it, ehh I don't see it. Video is Now the thing, and Sony it pretty much king of that. Canon is Canon is Canon's problem on video. I would argue if Canon had not come up with DPAF they would be a dot on a map, non pro wise, with video cameras in this day and age. It is the thing that has sort of saved their ass. And the New Sony A7r III, A9 are not that far behind focus wise.

That Song Sounds like Black Wedding. Hard to do anything new in R&R anymore. -
Yeah I saw that video a few days ago. Seemed like a Odd problem, well a pain in the ass problem to have. Maybe just their copy, who knows.

I am really amazed someone who had a Pre release one didn't try to do a DR test. At least side by side to a GH5, heck even to a GH4.

"The Evo will have a 4K, 60 FPS camera on a 3-axis gimbal, and it has a full 94-degree field of view" Best info I could find about the sensor.
-
I have heard that number thrown out by some Panny people also. But with using V-Log L on paper limits you to 12 stops. I just don't know. This sensor, this camera Ought to do better than the Gh5 does. I don't really see how something that obliviously does better in low light not have some more DR! I guess we will find out soon.

Yeah I must admit California is a beautiful place to live. But I am retired and unless you have a Serious income living there is Not a option. But there always seems to be some goofy thing happening there, and it seems to be happening hot and heavy lately. I Need to go out there again to see my daughter and family soon. Running out of time. She didn't come where I live last year so. I have a Dually pickup truck that I bought last year and I am doing needed maintenance on, and I think I will buy a 5th Wheel this year. So hopefully I get it all going and away I go LoL. Hard to save up money once you are retired. No second job or overtime to snag when like you are younger. And being into Video does not help at ALL.

Wow maybe you are a Candidate for the GH5s. The low light ability is a super update from the past m4/3 stuff. I mean it opens up a lot of new venues. I have really given up on m4/3. I don't even own one anymore. But I have to admit this had poped into the Radar for sure. I like the lens sizes for sure and the selection you have from others.

I can see from what you shoot not having IBIS would not be a very good fit at all. In reality it probably is not a very good fit for most people. I doubt they are going to sell them left and right to the average person. But I am more of a Tripod guy, or have to have a camera rig that weighs 25 pounds to balance it.

I don't think Jon is buying a GH5s! But he was not buying a GH5 either.

You have eaten too many Avocados LoL. Lots of my fathers relation live, and lived there, and one of my my daughters does now. She is a Psychiatrist. She says she could Never run out of patients in Calif.. She is stinking rich off of them. They are all crazy, and so it Jerry Brown, Really crazy, even my relation now, and my daughter, well She Has Changed!. I have seen it all first hand lots of times. Please succeed from the union before you slide into the ocean and I have to help pay to bail you out! JK,, ehh I think. PS: I am a Republican. So you see the conflict. But they do have some damn nice Video stuff on Craigslist out there!

This ought to make Zak and others a bit happier. http://www.4kshooters.net/2018/01/12/panasonic-au-eva1-new-firmware-update-ver-1-10-released/

This is a pretty good price for a Tripod Bag that seems like it flat get the job done. It's pretty easy to damage a Carbon Fiber Tripod, and Video heads aren't built like tanks anymore. http://www.newsshooter.com/2018/01/12/think-tank-video-tripod-manger-44-review/

I see how they are using these ISO's to prove that the GH5s is great in low light. But I hope this does not start a trend. I agree with Jon, how light do you go at night? I always loved it more toward the darker side because of the suspense, scary side of it, making you look harder at it to spot things, on and on. But admit this camera is going to make it tempting to go higher. But I won't like it unless it is more for Documentary stuff, etc., seeing things we have never been able to see before.

Home Depot has Everything you need for lighting! Cheap also. https://digital-photography-school.com/shooting-products-and-video-using-home-depot-lighting/

Sorry you are right. I quoted instead of should have just made a new statement. DPR had this is their quick compare thingy. "As well as using the maximum amount of pixels and silicon for each aspect ratio (with consequent image quality benefits), this also means that the diagonal angle of view is preserved, whether you shoot 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 or in DCI 4K's roughly 17:9 aspect ratio. It also means that the GH5S should offer a fractionally wider angle-of-view than the GH5 when shooting video, especially when capturing DCI footage. The only downside is that the use of a larger region could limit the use of APS-C and Super35 lenses in conjunction with focal length reducing adaptors, such as SpeedBoosters. A 0.71x reducer needs to capture a roughly 30.5mm image circle to cover the GH5S's larger video region, while a 0.64x reducer needs a 33.8mm image circle, both of which are larger than is guaranteed to be projected by an APS-C lens. You'll almost certainly be OK with the 0.71x adaptor, since that's been shown to work with the majority of APS-C lenses but with the 0.64x versions it's likely you'll have to check on a case-by-case basis."

I think if it is "consistent" through the whole movie close to right or a bit off it is OK. It is when it is Way off or changes a lot that drives me crazy. Like I have stated before if the movie is, well the story draws you into to it I don't think you really pay too much attention to the camera work unless it is Wonky, the Audio is the thing that drives me the most crazy if it is Wonky, and I will admit most serious stuff its very well done on both fronts.
