  1. Check how low this price is for a F3 and they have 2 of them!! https://www.adorama.com/us 866269.html
  2. Well this short is being considered for a award for something. More than me and I bet a lot of people on here are! Better than I have up on the web. But yeah I guess we all need to learn "To Dance" LoL. Hell it might actually help. But I need to be a bit younger to do what they did in the end. Pretty crazy video overall.
  3. I think what is lost a lot in this thread is Content!! I watched this short and still have no clue what it was shot on and don't really care. The "Storytelling" was so good, at least to me, that I never really looked at the film in a "hell what camera was used,", I was immersed in the script, the output, not the what is was shot on. It could have been shot on a Barbie Cam I don't care. It is the old saying Content is king, and in this case to me it was. Write a good story and it works, plain and simple no matter the tool you use.. So yeah a old 3 ccd ENG camera can work just as well as a new Arri If you have a good story.
  4. Well I can tell you from experience that if you show up with one of these ENG cameras in the public you draw a crowd. And you better have a tablet to write down phone numbers of all the people, mostly females is seems, that want to be in your "Movie" LoL.
  5. Well I think this is the body you want to get! Maybe a better one but man this thing looks like a winner for the money. This is a Varicam! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-AJ-HPX2700-AJHPX2700-2-3-VariCam-Professional-Camcorder-2120-Hours/232472651644?epid=110930570&hash=item362073277c:g:JjAAAOSw1NFaC1Dc Here is one that is a little gimped up for less money. A Sony, but only 1/2 inch CCD's. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-PDW-F355-XDCAM-HD-1-2-3CCD-Camcorder-1987-Hours-SKU-904834-READ-BELOW/332385948185?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3D7eb1585ed77e4706acec5fc7ab439bec%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D232472651644&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982 Check Adorama used stuff. I have bought a lot of ENG cameras and ENG lenses from them. About the cheapest around.
  6. Hmm this one does 1080p on P2 cards. Might be a cheaper one on there? In description. "Unlike similar priced camcorders, the AG-HPX500 can shoot a variety of standard definition and high definition resolutions, including 720p, 1080i and 1080p." https://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-AG-HPX500/282732785218?hash=item41d42fee42:g:oJgAAOSwLqFV92BJ
  7. This might be a better way to go! Uses P2 cards. And there are cheaper bodies on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-DVCPRO-P2-camera-AJ-SPX800/382220232370?hash=item58fe19e6b2:g:gIMAAOSwcC9Zrrpa
  8. If you want a old one try to get one that uses XDCAM HD. That is the one that uses a CD in a plastic "sleeve". A cartridge. They are somewhat cheap today. Any one that uses Solid State media is VERY expensive even today. Those type of cameras Can be additive! They are about the best designed camera bodies ever made. They come rigged to start with LoL. Only needed a Video light and maybe a wireless headphone receiver on them and away you go.
  9. But a Lot of TV stations still shoot on the old Sony 2/3 cameras yet unless they went to 4k, and a lot still don't use that format. They would have had to throw everything they had in the garbage, and that would cost millions and millions of dollars to convert. Unfortunately he is right. Well maybe fortunately he is right!! They do have a special look, but the biggest benefit to them is being able to use a B4 ENG lens on them. That way it is very good in low light and they can get DoF out the ass. And you do NOT want stuff oof in TV, ENG work. Yeah I don't doubt a GH1 is about 5 times a better way too go.
  10. P2 cards are Only a Panasonic thing. NO Sony I ever heard of uses them. I think the F900 uses tapes.. You don't even want to get involved in Tapes in this day and age. The ones that use the CD's are not bad though even today.
  11. They are not that much money anymore. That thing was like 80,000 bucks new, now... That was a beast of a camera. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-HDW-F900-CineAlta-24P-HDCAM-Camcorder-Unit-2-of-3-3012/152701678244?hash=item238dbab2a4:g:rJYAAOSwpHFZaj9H
  12. That has to be the worse video quality I have ever seen LoL. That was probably shot on a Barbie Camera! It looks like a SONY PMW-400K. I had one a few years ago. Damn great camera at the time. 3 2/3 sensors in it. Pretty much industry standard at the time. Maybe even a older one. the 400k would do HD, so not sure what they shot that video with. Might only be SD not HD. It is not that long ago that ENG could even shoot in HD. Like only maybe 7 years ago and then Only in 24fps, Maybe 30fps. They would shoot higher fps but only interlaced video in HD.
  13. There also was the Panasonic G9. Not super video related, but for the average person probably better way to go than the GH5. Yeah that would seem to me also like a heck of a lot of cameras in one year to still add another..
  14. Hell this one is a bit under 2000 bucks! https://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-GY-LS300CHU-DEMO-with-FULL-JVC-3-Year-Warranty/152758889112?epid=219504907&hash=item239123aa98:g:WvgAAOSwOdpXybuO

    Lenses

Well this opens up a few more options for the GH5. http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/11/20/mtf-pl-to-m43-adaptor/
  16. http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/11/16/wooden-camera-creates-pl-mount-panasonic-eva1/ I used the EVF a lot when I had the AF100A also, but it was mostly because the LCD sicked ass in the sunlight. But I think it was a pretty great viewfinder.
  17. Bottom chart pretty much tells it all. https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-reliability-stats-q1-2016/
  18. Wow that is a great improvement! Well done. I see you darkened it a bit. I think that is what made it a lot better. About as good as I have seen a GH4 edit as of late. Keep up the good work. I have never been to Málaga. Closest I got to there was Rota, Spain. Been to Valencia also. Great food in Spain, good stuff.
  19. I am done, again. I give up. I guess I will never ever post anymore on here anywhere again. good luck, was nice while it lasted.
  20. Ok I guess I did not look at my original post. I just meant to put up this video, not the Add for Zacuto which I guess this video sort of still is, but.. My Bad! I am old. Plz delete the original post. Liam is right, eh I think, yeah he is. If you limit yourself to just using a Tripod, you are missing half the reason you shoot. It adds a whole new perspective to your output. Sort of like you are really there, the person holding the camera.
  21. Ahh, I beg to differ. if you can Now hand hold a camera to SHOOT, that you could Not before, I call that shooting. Your opinion and mine, well are different. Over and Out. I made a damn good living Shooting Handheld, so it interests Me, and I would think lots of others on here also..
  22. If true, probably is, this is great news for us. Pushes the industry to move on, not sit on their laurels like they say. Also will be lots of cheap used C100 mkII's for us to buy, Cool!
  23. Wow, I too have seen snippets of this movie! From what I have seen it reminds me of a late 50's, early 60's adopted Broadway Play. There were some excellent ones in that Era. It reminds me more of a Real Life experience than all this crazy stuff we have today that is just pure conjecture. I liked to been entertained, not just Bombarded with FX! Who doesn't want to see some great effects, but though the whole damn Movie, and with the Music cranked up to 11 the whole time, with the Actors screaming to get above it? SCI FI is really neat, makes you think outside the box, but lately it just seems like to me, they just want to exploit the latest computer capable stuff, with a mindless plot, to sell a ton of tickets to rabid fans of the past. Again I just don't see a lot of imagination lately in Hollywood. Seems like they want a Blockbuster hit more than a Oscar winning movie, that has a great plot, that will be talked about 50 years from now..
