  2. Yeah it has to be incredible the data that is moved around on these modern Digital Cameras. Scary stuff LoL.
  3. I am guessing the 400mbs All-I will be No better than what we have now, other than maybe help with motion smearing, tearing. But for critical editing it will help, but at the cost of a LOT more data, ergo, needing a Bigger SD card. And I think your 3x times is in the ball park.
  4. I think I would go for LCD panels for now, They are damn cheap, and for concentrated light you just get closer if you can, with a small LCD panel. Plus the fold able ones don't weigh anything! Sure have a couple of Fresnel spots is sort of a necessity though. Cheapest way to light is to go to Wal Mart and buy their 3x4" 2x3' what ever they have, white foam panels and bonce light with them, They are like 4 bucks each. They work wonders, beautiful effect, if the Wind isn't blowing like hell LoL.
  5. This little short article may help shed a some light on the subject. http://www.dslrvideocollege.com/all-i-vs-ipb-what-do-they-mean
  6. Yeah Accuracy, and the ability to have a lot narrower light beam. Also the Fresnel lens helps magnify the light just like a Lighthouse Fresnel does. So you can use a lower wattage lamp, bulb, LCD in them. And the good ones are built like a tank. Arri ones are for sure. You have to have in reality all kinds of light to cover making a top notch film. Even bare light bulbs. Lighting is not an easy thing to pull off. It does take a lot skill. And I hate, a Bunch of light stands. And the Bi Color ones are for high and low kelvin values. And you can get a bit of softer light on the darker yellowish LCDs compared to the clear or white ones. They are getting better and cheaper by the day. Heck some of the new ones you can just fold them up, who would have ever thought!
  7. Well it was at least nice to see his WIFE! And we Did see a Lot of her for a Very SHORT time!
  8. I think a restaurant, bar is about the worse place I have ever tried to shoot video in. I bet @noone can chime in here about that. Lighting is All over the place Kelvin wise. Unless you set up a section that you can Stage a shot in, maybe other than where the cooks are, which seems pretty consistent lighting wise, you are asking for trouble. Plan ahead, is all I can say. And use a camera that has a Ton of DR, you will need it. The booths are dark as heck, the bar is light as hell, reflections on mirrors at the bar, TV's suck to film, can't use 24fps, waitress opening doors in and out, maybe people lighting cigarettes, going to the restrooms, etc, Wow, is all I can say. And if you have a lot of different nationalities involved in there, Oh boy, that is fun in dark areas. Hint, Hint, take a LOT of footage so you can salvage some of it!
  9. Yeah I agree, I would not push this "out the door" as they say. But it a LOT better of a starting place than the original one. I like the upgrade on it. It is not a mile off like the first one. But I was thinking earlier that his sort of look maybe more of the future look than you and I, we, might like. With 4k, 6k, 8k, out, well I just don't see the old school film look even being able to Be duplicated, hell maybe even desired by the younger crowd. We may be becoming a Dinosaur. A lot of young people may not know what a film look even is, or care. You have to remember a lot of them grew up as gamers, total Smartphone users! They really don't care about buttery smoothness, 24fps, they want 60fps or more, no choppy stuff, crystal clear clean output. I live in a small College town of 12,000 people with a College that has 28,000 students. Miami of Ohio. I ate out tonight at a Sports Bar in Oxford, Ohio where I live, and where the College is. They had 22 42" TV's, all of them 4k, and they had like a 22" TV, maybe 19", I sat at the bar with my wife, they had a Good looking, young female Bartender , at Every booth, and you could choose what YOU wanted to look at! Everyone of them seemed like they were on a smartphone, Apple Laptop yikes!, iPad etc. You think they give a crap about a Film look?? I Really doubt it. Our Goose is cooked down the road like it or not.
  10. you talking about the original GH5 grade, or his Ursa 4.6k grade? Sure I like the Usra 4.6 grade overall, but this is a gradable grade if that makes sense. The first one was a total crap shoot on the outcome if you were not there to visualize it I think. And the lamp, that has probably more to do with a lack of DR than anything m4/3 sensors have sad to say. That is still their one fatal flaw. You can overcome DoF, lack of low light with a fast lens to start with, and adding a Speed Booster to that, DR, well not so much.
  11. Wow, now we are talking! That is very nice. That has some damn good potential! Sweet. I knew there Had to be a lot more to this upgrade, than has been shown at times. That is getting up there with the big boys!
  12. Aaron does the Ursa support OIS lenses??
  13. Those two are like night and day! That would be some tough footage for a colorist to edit on the GH5. That is like a blank canvas. That ends up like a guessing game.
  14. Wow that video sure did have some ugly Moire, and he has a eh,eh Long Legged wife! Is Moire really that bad?? That would be a total deal breaker if you do fashion, or architectural work.
  15. Oh I am sure the overall was better on the Ursa. There IS a reason they are twice the price or more LoL. But I am surprised how sharp the GH5 still was at -5.
  16. Well if say you are doing a commercial for a Jewelry Store I would think taking video of Diamond Rings you might even want to turn it up. People just don't use video cameras all the time to get a Film look. It is, well it is a tool to make money with at times, or just for fun. I don't think I would want to shoot my young children, when they are growing up, looking like a 50's movie with sharpness turned all the way down! I think your wife might not be too happy with that 10 years later! And now since the GH5 does 3D LuTs I would think you can make it look like anything you want with practice.
  17. Well I guess the biggest question is to me, maybe others, is which camera actually looked more like her live AaronChicago?? I can always change a camera to look different, but not always realistic looking, that is harder to do if that is what you want, say in a corporate interview, which I understand, I guess, this wasn't the case here... I guess what I mean is I would Not use a BMPCC to interview the CEO of General Motors over the GH5. Who, by the way, is a Woman. You are allowed to turn sharpness down a bit on the GH5! Seems to me people are beating up on a camera that has only been out a month, and maybe they only had for a week or less. Is it a 2000 dollar Arri, well no, but It can shoot 4k where a Arri can't, and with the firmware updates coming I bet you could shoot a film, and Netflix would take it, according to their requirements. Can't do that even with a Arri Alexa. It Has to be 4k. I think it has great potential. Luke seems to have figured it out.
  18. I would think yes the 6k photo mode might be one of the main reasons I would get one myself. I do like to do birding photos and video of them. And yes I also see a big improvement in the image quality and the colors from peoples videos. Nice. But not sure if the Olympus EM1 mkII might even be better for birding?? I had a EMI, that was a heck of a camera. But I would hate to give up the Video capabilities of the GH5. So probably would not buy a EM1 mkII.
  19. Well don't get much crazier than Beavis and Butt-Head was. I sort of hated them, but really like them LoL. My son was the one that watched them a lot not me! I was old at the time. Probably mid 40's.
  20. Les Claypool has got to be one of the strangest bass players to ever live, Thank God!!
  21. Yeah they are still worth it if you just can find one for around 650 or less, and just buy a few batteries for it and leave it at that. But if you go whole hog and rig the heck out of one, I think you are throwing money into a rat hole. Buy a GH4 used, money better spent I think overall.
  22. I wonder how far behind a MBP late 2013 would be? I really don't use a Mac enough to justify a newer one. I am sure it is not as good, but good enough, or a waste of my time?
  23. Yeah by the time you rig a BMPCC and buy a SB, 5 batteries for it, you can Buy a 5D mkIII, and heck you can even take photographs with it! They, in reality, are not worth it anymore. I am really not even re considering buying another one of them again, probably ever.
  24. Jesus Stop that shit. I am 70 years old. I almost had a heart attack, the hell with your underware!! Truth be known they are probably still selling the heck out of them yet. Still nothing that can touch them in raw new or used for well, I was going to say twice the money, but there is this sort of New thing called a ML 5D mkIII that Canon nerfed the living hell out of.
