Yeah I would have been happy with that, basically a BMCC as a Pocket, whats wrong with that? Duh! Christ the data with 4k raw would have been crazy as hell anyways?? Damn battery would last 10 minutes LoL. I would not have even begun to want 4k Raw? Who in the hell did they ask that even wanted that shit?? Sure as hell didn't come on here and ask anyone about Our opinions, that's for sure. Jesus even a Arri is not 4k! A Arri, BM Ursa uses about 60% of the body as a heat sink. And a Red has a fan on the top of them that will blow your wig off if you lean over one! Forget about having a on-board mic on one of them. And they are going to run 4k raw in a body you can stick in your pocket? No the hell wonder they can't find a sensor for it LoL.

Well part of the reason it is that high is the Insurance you have to pay to ship it. So i doubt it is a rip off scheme. They charge you out the butt for 11k of insurance. And it does come with a Flight Case. They are Heavy to ship. It really is not out of line at all. But that is a Damn good price for that camera. There is really not anything you can't shoot with that camera other than 4k. Make a full feature film if you want. GAS.

Yeah the GH5 is a little Too brutal on a woman's face. I am sure it could be "turned down". But colors wise not a lot different I see. GH5 for the money is looking hard to beat.

This is what it looks like now with a Rode shotgun mike, Cage I bought and the dreaded Dead Cat! 14-140mm on there also. But yes I think it might look a lot like the old AF100's did. Why not. It was a pretty good design. But looks like they may have moved the ND Knob?
-
It can cost 50 dollars, if you can't get one who cares how cheap it is.. But yes, I see your point. I stand corrected.

Why not just buy some 12 volt deep cycle boat batteries? Hell couple of them would last forever! Do you Need 14.8 volts, or does 12 volts or less work on average?? NPF batteries are Only 7.2 volts. I would not recommend carrying a boat battery for Run N Gun though!

I don't know if this has been shown. Plz delete if it has.

This video, starting at 5:20 tells it like it is sad to say.

Yeah the layout of the controls is a hell of a lot like my AF100A. Interesting that it does look like at the least it is a Sigma cropped sensor lens or more.

Nice work Jon. I can see the Olympus is a bit sharper, more natural coloring, but you are right, 900 bucks for a stop, little sharpness, I would have to give the nod to the Sigma for sure, unless money is no object. But the stop better for low light, and the better DoF isolation is probably worth it. Two big failings of m4/3 helped by this one lens alone. DR, well that is another problem on it's own.

Hell , Maybe you are a odd duck LoL. Just kidding. OK it is interesting how about that! I guess we need to see the "Moving Pictures" as they say to pass judgement. I, well, I think it is too soft for my liking. Looks a bit like, the old put Vaseline on the lens trick, back in the day. Women's Nylon Stockings work well also.

Panasonic Varicam LT versus 7 cameras, Maybe more LoL.

Well I am still exploring my AF100A. But I really doubt it can "outdo" the BM which is kind of crazy when you think about it. But no,not this month at least. But I am going out to Phoenix, Arizona at the last part of July again, possibly for a month or more, not sure I want to carry the AF100A on a plane and the tripod I need to use it with, etc.. Probably take my Panny G7 instead, but a BMPCC Might be a really, really nice addition in my carry on bag LoL!! I Might be looking for a cheap one someplace?? Kind of looking maybe more for a MFT BMCC though, form factor though, wow not so hot.. Wolf seems to like it a Lot. I have not seen much of him lately, Jon and him have done disappeared?? -
I don't know if this video has been shown on here. Pretty impressive focus on it I think. If so delete it Jon, speaking of Jon I have not seen you for a few days? You OK? Something to think about here. This is on the DVXuser.com site talking about the new who knows Panasonic camera coming out. It makes sense if you are shooting in 24fps like a lot of us do on here. Barry Green is a whiz on this stuff. He was Very involved in the AF100 thingy. He was like a Panny consultant or something like that. Because its performance was awful. Because, when shooting 24p, the system is fed updates more slowly, so it responds more slowly, and is more prone to "miss" the sharpest point because it doesn't get feedback as often. We complained, so they enabled autofocus in the DVX100A -- and called it "focus assist" mode, because they didn't want to call it true autofocus, because it could not be up to their standards. Autofocus will always work better in 60p/60i than it will in 24p, always. More frequent updates results in more information being sent to the system for processing."

Wow what a neat Job this could have been! Sort of probably one of the neatest thing you could shoot a video of. Damn! http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-39747670

Yeah I have a $1,000.00 Canon Photo Printer that if one of the Color cartridges gets low, it has 8 of them all together, I can't print a B&W Photo, or even just print a page off the web in B&W! What the hell! Printers, makes you want to pull your hair out at times!

Panasonic Varicam LT versus 7 cameras, Maybe more LoL.
webrunner5 replied to webrunner5's topic in Cameras
When you can make a movie that looks like this one, with a $700.00 or less, used BMPCC, and hell you could buy one for 500 bucks new for a bit, I don't think I am in the market for a Varicam LoL. Oh, and by the way, what a hell of a good story line this is. Envy. But, and it is a BIG but, sounds obscene, this is no Ordinary film, it was shot by, well see the link for details... it was not just Bob or Carlos, or Hans down the street! https://frankglencairn.wordpress.com/2013/09/18/the-1-shooting-a-short-with-the-bmc-pocket-and-much-coffee/ I have not seen many videos shot with a Varicam that do a lot for me. But maybe I have not seen the best of the videos. That might be the case? -

I guess also with that video above we can see why the Panasonic Varicams have NOT been a runaway success! -

What continues to amaze me and you, and I bet a lot of people on here is, why the hell are we not using more BM products!! Jesus even 3 years after it was introduced, with not many, How do I say this, the actual output has not changed hardly at all, just a lot of the features in the menu, how the hell did BM get the damn BMPCC, BMCC so f ing right right out of the box?? It is amazing to me to this day how a nobody company has a better, cheap ass camera, than a lot of the big boys high end stuff! It's crazy, and I think I am crazy for not buying a MFT BMCC. I Need to do it. You made sort of along the same good choice on buying the Canon 5D mkIII. I guess Raw is the magic bullet, the thing we are striving for. Not really 8k, but we know what I am taking about. It is the creamy, film, butter smooth look that has captivated millions of people, us, down the road. It is not Star Wars 20 in 8k, it is the 40's, 50's, 60's look that make the hair on your arms stand up, that a piss ass cheap BMPCC can give us. Damn, all I can say is Damn, you are right about that video when I look at it again. Keen eye. Glenn you are right, great stuff. BM knows Video, they do. I think Canon does also, they are just to big of a tightass to give it up to start with for a reasonable price to the masses. What a bunch of crap that is when you think about it. -
I gave up buying aftermarket Batteries for Video Cameras. They Never seem to be as good or last as long. I know they are Serious money but... Yeah lower end printers are cheaper to just throw them away and buy a new one! What is this "thingamajig from Samsung" you are talking about?? You are not talking about one of those damn Fax, plus ten other feature things I hope!! Say it ain't so!

I think Red sort of overcharges for Everything but the Brains they sell LoL. I guess as small of company they are they have to make money some place. But I believe their Brains are really not too far off the mark for the technology they R&R into them. For a little company they do come out with some amazing tech. Really more so than Sony, Canon when you think about it. Only Arri, and well Panavision who is really using Red stuff, but I give them credit for the relationship they have with Red, are making breakthrough stuff it seems to me. Sony, Canon seem to have the tech at the start in a camera and just keep unlocking a little bit of it at a time, which Pisses me off big time, while Red, BM go balls to the wall at the roll out! It seems to me that Red along with Blackmagic are the ones that are pushing space age stuff out the door, not the big boys like you would think. I am amazed what BM particularly brings out. Man I bet that is a fun place to work at. And Jannard at Red, well l know he is a nice person, and a real innovator. I bet not too many people know, but Jim Jannard was the founder, owner of Oakley Sunglasses. And he wanted a better video camera, and hell he started his own company Red, and made it happen. Boys and Girls, there is some NICE stuff out there now. Lucky times for us. Not many excuses to not make some quality footage anymore. Lets go for it!

That is a odd looking Duck on it's output LoL. Can you return yet?
-
SSD's are great, but as you well know, all the big boys , Red in particular, brought out their own SSD's because the QC on the normal ones was all over the place. So I wonder now, in this day and age, are they reliable enough to buy off shelf?
-
Yes I Was going to add a F35, even a F65 in there for 9 grand and I thought nah, people Will think I am crazy. And I agree with you on that point. I am just afraid if Panasonic does 9 grand they will fail. I just don't think the Industry considers Panny stuff high end, even though they have the Varicams. I know they have, had ENG cameras for years, mostly 1/2" sensor ones. To be honest the reason they were popular was they were cheaper than a Sony, not hard to believe LoL and they were, cheaper with lot more plastic compared to built like a tank Sony's. But you have to cut costs somewhere to compete. But they are great cameras for the money. They also came up with the the P2 media, which while expensive, no worse than others cost wise, was a great idea. It is basically a Raid System in a single slot using SD cards, for the people that don't know much about them.. Great idea. The Panasonic AG-HVX200 was really a groundbreaking camera for the average person. The first I think, real 24, 30, 1080p camcorder that a normal person could afford. It had both Mini DV, and P2 cars in it. Incredible stuff at the time. I loved mine. Just about wore it out. Panasonic has been a manufacturing great stuff, for real people, for a Long time.

Well past history or not, and how much money Adobe makes, Blackmagic is out to kill their ass. And by the looks of Resolve 14 they just may do it sooner than later. I have used Resolve form the day it came out to the masses. I have watched it evolve into a pretty mature product. BM is out to win, and win they will. And I will help them win. I HATE Adobe.
-
I am amazed ever time Resolve updates their product how many new things they add. They don't do just a few things. I guess it could be because it was a bit weak to start with. But damn they sure are trying to make it the best overall tool out there that's for sure. I think in the future it will be The thing to use like it or not. And like Andrew said, that Fairlight addition is well, pretty unbelievable. Up to 1,000 Tracks, Jesus. And that Mixing Console, holly crap! And at around 27k I think I read, that is Really not too bad.
