  1. Also, the biggest down fall is the operator. We are all guilty of wanting to have the next greatest thing and think we are going to produce award winning stuff with the new toy. Sure these new cameras have better features, but with skill, lots of it, you can make pretty much anything happen. Most people, including me, don't spend enough time learning the camera. There is never going to be a perfect camera. But the temptation is defiantly there. Tech keeps marching on.
  2. I think the Photography site might make up for it in the long run. Way more people into that than video.
  3. Well I will admit the Photography side of it is a lot easier and cheaper to do than really good video. And actually somewhat more rewarding as a lot easier to view it and to edit it. Plus hard to talk someone, even your wife, to sit down and watch a video you shot compared to looking at a couple of photos. As to writing a movie, well unless you have some god given talent for it probably not going to happen. That is one of those things you can either do it or you can't, most can't.
  4. Well religion fits into that category at times. Plus it sort of keeps the average person in order also. Sort of a hmm moment when you really think about it.

    Lenses

They sure have a unique look. Magic camera for sure.
  6. I may be wrong, but I know I read a few months ago that to have Phase Detect in a camera you have to pay Sony a royalty for every camera you sell, and probably a huge upfront fee to even start.

  8. I agree with Mercer, I think that was one of the best videos Andrew did and the GH2 with the hacks back then I think looked better than the GH3, GH4 ever did. Main reason I just bought the 1DC. We seem to be getting worse Color Science every year.
  9. The big difference I see from 4k to 8k is it studders a lot on my internet connection. 😄
  10. Why do they still use such a small sensor in this day and age? Jesus, they act like it is 1988.
  11. https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/soft/download/lumix_hlgphoto.html Says for all S cameras including the S1R.
  12. So you think people in Africa, India, China, etc. are buying the hell out of 4k tv's??? You do realize the west represents about 15% of the whole world population. And how many of them have a 4k TV? I don't. A 4k TV is about the last thing in hell I am looking to buy. Speaking of buying, instead of buying a 4k TV I just bought a Canon 1Dc. Get it in a few days, has 2000 actuations. WAY better toy than a TV. This is the breakdown. https://www.statista.com/statistics/237584/distribution-of-the-world-population-by-continent/
  13. Yeah Resolve has gotten pretty good now with the BM cameras on the Color Transformation thing. Amazing feature.
  14. The PK4 to me is just too awkward of a camera body. And with a cage even more goofy. I get that 4k is never going to look like 1080p. It has it's uses. Even Arri doesn't really like a 4k camera. I doubt 4% of the world has a 4k TV let alone 8k. I don't, heck one of my 42" is 720p. Yeah, my 50" 1080p looks a Lot better. My 4k Monitor looks even better but...
  15. There is no way in hell you are ever going to get the PK4 to look like the OG BMPCC looks like using Raw DNG. Blackmagic has lost it's magic since the PK4 came out. They looking nothing like the old stuff did. They look like everyone else now.
  16. Plus you get a Resolve Studio dongle, well a credit card thingy lol, which you can use or sell. A bargain really.

    Lenses

Minolta sure had their act together on lens manufacturing. Hard to believe they went belly up. But Sony was smart to buy them and keep some of the original people on that is for sure.
  18. Plus it lost the filmic Mojo look of the OG. It looks better than a lot of cameras but it is not better.
  19. I also remember some of Manfrotto monopods have a spring-loaded retractable screw. I don't remember the reasoning but maybe the spring is broken and if that is the case probably a write off as they say. But if you like to tinker why not investigate it and maybe resolve the problem.
  20. Very true but it is a shame that it is still the smallest company out there with the best product DR wise that is affordable yet. What is wrong with that picture. Seems like the big boys are playing games as usual.
  21. Well sure IPS is the way to go with led backlight, but he would be limited to 2K, I know of no 4K for the money he is talking. If he is content with 2k sure. I would rather have a newer BenQ EW3270U with a VA panel than an older monitor even if IPS with the older CFL backlight. They are bad when you look at them at sharp angles also. Plus, the bulb gets weaker with age. No free lunch sad to say.
  22. I told you so above. Bad dog. 😄 Glad you found it.
  23. Why are you looking to buy a 2K display?? This is 2022. Buy a used 4K over a new 2K. You can keep a good display for Years.
