Canon Cinema EOS C70 - Ah that explains it then!

Money is the ultimate drug. Addictive as hell. They all act like they are your best friend, but it is all about the money.

I have heard about driving home a point but... 😬

No the lens does not correct anything that I know of, I meant turn off the corrections in the camera body somehow. Years ago you would have a hard time shooting even a 24mm lens without distortion. Now we go down to 16mm even less and it works on a FF camera.
-
Well it has a lens in it. Pretty pricy but hey if you look better why not. https://opalcamera.com/

You probably can just take off all the electronic corrections on modern lenses and get all kinds of crazy stuff. New lenses are probably worse than the old stuff.

Blackmagic Micro Cinema Super Guide and Why It Still Matters

My daughter out in California still has all of my gear from my TV commercial days. Pretty outdated by now lol. I guess the tripods and fluid heads are still good. Was all Miller studio stuff. Cameras were 720 stuff. -

You have to have a Really stable tripod and a good fluid head to get the best out of the lens. A B4 lens like it will cover m4/3 with a 2x doubler. It will cover the s16 senor at medium to long lengths without even using the doubler. That lens cost like $8000.00 40 years ago. They are super good quality. They make normal a camera look like a toy. But they weigh a lot, but that is a good thing for stability on an ENG camera that weighs a lot also. The ENG rig I used the most weighed over 20 pounds. But you get used to it, and they were rock solid once you used them for a few weeks. Hardest thing was learning how to walk backwards fast, which you did more than forward it seemed. I covered a lot of courthouse cases. Really hectic stuff in the hallways. My rig cost close to $100,000.00 new, $20,000.00 tripod and fluid head, that was in 1980's money. 3 Tube 2/3" tape cameras, a whopping 480i was my first one. Never got to 1080p ENG wise, I bought a lot of Sony CCD ones later on my own. I had a company that shot TV commercials for about 5 years. My writer quit and so did I lol. It takes a very special talent to come up with new stuff to do. -

That is a B4 adapter, and the lens has an internal 2x. That lens is not really 4K ready, but it can do 2K pretty easy. It ends up being close to a 500mm f1.7 lens, and with the Doubler in it ends up a 1000mm 4.0 Parafocal lens. I bought the lens, B4 adapter, that battery pack on the rear and the cable on Ebay for 90 dollars 6 months ago. -

I use one of these. Best thing I ever bought for the BMPCC. Not sure but I think they only work with a 1080p output? Zacuto EVF Flip-Up Electronic View Finder Z-EVF-1F https://www.ebay.com/itm/144366685371? -
I think we over think a lot of this stuff. I follow a lot of people on YouTube and most of them, well all of them are just regular people, mostly with a GoPro and a Drone and since it is them and their content I overlook a lot of editing because the content is so interesting. And surprisingly their editing isn't that bad. The more you do the better you get. I don't think if it were shot on an Arri it would be much better. Not when you are knocking out videos every day or so. I just look forward to new content and consider some almost like family I have following them so long. I am even a Patreon on most of them.

Trouble is the BMPCC and the BMMCC are not the sharpest output going and when you put a OPLF in them they get even less sharp. I know part of the greatness of the early BM cameras were that they weren't sharp as a knife, filmic looking but I am not a big fan of that mod. But that is a popular mod so maybe I am in the minority. It doesn't ruin the look though. You are going to like it Marty, they are crazy good and fun to use. Raw is such a pleasure to have as an option. It really raises your skill in a lot of ways. Very rewarding when it comes out right. Something you created not some baked in look. You feel like a creator not an operator. -
Well like a friend of mine says that owns a used car lot "There is an ass for every seat" and this Canon FD craze is no doubt one of those. Canon sure has fooled one hell of a lot of people with their photo products. Hardly the second coming of Jesus Christ. Other than a few lens examples, ergo super fast lenses that no one could afford even new, I can think of lots of equal or better lens brands out there over the years for a heck of a lot less money. Although any really good lens is not cheap. I think Olympus put Canon to shame lens wise back in the day, Leica like quality and size.

Nah I find what if stuff is a polite way to state lots of bullshit, we have plenty of that floating around already. Politicians and lawyers don't have that cornered. A lot of them are both sad to say. A Terrible combination. Everyone has ideas, but most of them are re hashed stuff that failed in the past. If it were great it would be working wonderfully for the last 200 years. The thing that is going to kill all of society is that governments are way to slow to implement new rules and laws to an every changing, fast paced world we now live in. And I see no way to change it. Super dangerous stuff. My bullshit statement lol.

Former GH5 videographers, what did you upgrade to afterwards?
webrunner5 replied to billem16's topic in Cameras
Hmm that is an interesting statement. There has to be a combination of several factors for you to think that. Above resolution, maybe clarity, colors, weak filter array on the sensor, etc. etc.. -

Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop both have this enhance thing that quads your photo resolution. Works wonders on my 12mp files on my A7s II. Might be an option, surely you would not need to do every shot you take. Heck the GH6 is 25mp, not really wimpy. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/enhance-details.html -

Well I am left handed so my right hand is my 1st AC via Tilta Nano lol. -
Well that might be a reason even a simple commercial on TV has a crew of 50 people involved. No one on here is going to become some master of every trade involved to make top notch videos. Sure we all need to get better, but there is a limit to talent, ergo intelligence, mine is getting worse by the day, and time involved. We hardly ever talk about audio on here, heck it is just as important as the video at times if not more important.

There is no continuous AF on old BM cameras. So using a AF lens is not a drawback. Using them just makes your life easier. Push a button instant ETTR, push a button you are in focus, what else you need. You are just making a simple camera more difficult to operate. I am not saying to never use a MF lens on one, but to totally eliminate a Panasonic or Olympus lens is interesting. And the newer MFT cameras. well sure maybe then. -

The older BM cameras don't have an optical low pass filter in them. So Moire can be a problem no doubt. -

The camera already has a IR Cut filter in it. If it is not fogy it is good. -

Yeah when you shoot Raw on the early BM cameras it is pretty hard to just screw it up. They are very forgiving and about as easy to shoot as any camera I have ever owned when you get used to them. Amazing cameras for a first try.
