I think most of what will happen in the future won't even be considered reality. Just a bunch of computer generated whatever seems in favor that year.

I think video is getting more stupid by the day. It looks less and less like reality, HDR and high resolutions make for a fake look that one does not see with our eyes in real life. It is like there is a magnifying glass on every scene. It is just silly where this is headed. I am not saying it is supped to be Filimic or Cinematic as heck, but the direction it is going, well it has already gone too far, is not going to be to anyone's best interest going forward. It is ugly and surely going to get uglier. Clean like a Canon C100 1080p is ok, Blackmagic colors heck yes, razor sharp, cut your face look, nah that is crazy. I don't think a trend toward pumped up Olympus colors in video is a goal we should be pushing. Leave cartoon colors to kids on Saturday.

No your just making your life more boring. I grew up with no LUTs. Oh how did we ever make anything look good or even great. Magic I guess, or maybe a little pre thought before shooting. Like lighting, makeup on and on, but sure things have changed but I think for the worse, a bit of ahh hell just fix it in post mindset. Comes off as a bit of laziness me thinks. Lack of imagination to boot. Not really picking on you. I can see you have put some time into doing this. I just am beginning to see all the cameras looking alike and I think NLE's have a lot to do with it to be honest. Not liking the trend. Blackmagic cameras seem to be the only ones I like anymore. They have bucked the trend.

I get it from both sides. I live in a small town, 12,000 people that has a large college in it, 25,000. The young girls think I am a Pervert and the women with kids think I am a Pedophile lol. I can't win. But on the weekends when both the boys and girls are drunk, they come up to me and want to be in my movie lol.

Well to me the biggest thing about DR that most people don't realize is that you Have to stay at the sensor's base ISO or you are just wasting your time at any other ISO. Now some of the newer cameras have dual ISO and that does really help on that front.

Years ago the Olympus EM1 was the only body that had Phase Detect AF in it. Had to use it if you wanted to use the old 4/3 body lenses which were crazy good. Olympus has always made a lot of great lens.

Somebody can give you a Red camera brain and you still can't afford to buy all you need to use it. Crazy system they have.

For years Olympus never cared about video and Panasonic didn't much care about the photo end. It was a few years ago Panny and Oly got together and Panny helped Oly develop the video end and Oly helped Panny on the IBIS end. So as of late they are closer than ever. And Olympus also had really over the top color science, which a lot of people liked, and Panasonic tried more to stay true to the science. I have owned a lot of both brands and with Olympus cameras years ago I made no effort to use video on them and vice versa on the Panasonic. Sucked pretty much CS wise on photos.

Yeah I have been poking around at footage from them and I am Really amazed how good it looks. This camera seems to have most of what a person needs, and the output seems as good as anything I have seen out there short of an Arri. If I was in the market for a higher end camera the FX6 would be at the top of my list. Sony has done a pretty amazing job with the color science and the organic feel of the sensor.

Who the hell even has a 8k display to view it on, maybe a few in Japan but... But sure for visual effects why not. I really can't imagine any woman in the world wanting a closeup of them in 8k.

That Nikon v1 makes one heck of a nice birding camera also. Pretty dope camera for the money.

Film look and Cine look are fast becoming a thing of the past. You have nearly a generation of young people that what looks good comes from a Smartphone. Hardly Cinematic. And with the push for 8K, 12K you are in no way going to get a "film" look from that. I must admit I am liking the cleaner look the more I see it. It represents reality more often than not. And we have a lot more Dynamic Range on these new cameras to boot. And that adds to even more reality. Why try and cover it up. Our eyes appreciate beauty, clarity, and definition. Why mask it with some pretend made up LUT. Action films now seem to be the rage and they sure as heck aren't Filmic as heck. I look at some of these Anamorphic lens films and it gets pretty damn old quick. It looks fake as hell, and it is. Don't get me wrong I like the color of say my OG BMPCC but using shit lenses to get a 8mm look isn't my cup of tea on mine anymore. I want the colors and the clarity. Not some smeared ass look we hated 15 years ago. I want reality, not some outdated look from the past. I think your chasing the wrong horse in the long run.

Going to have to have a Mac to do it but hey better than nothing. Could use a cheap Mac Mini M1.

You need to state what plans you intend to do with it. Fun stuff, YouTube, Doc etc. One camera can't do it all. And yes you will loose you ass on video stuff. It is Expensive as hell to get into it in any serious way. Tech is moving crazy fast these days to break even.

Yeah a C100 is about as good as it gets for color and sharpness in 1080p. Just proves that on paper a crap Codec is not very accurate on output.

Yeah, but true reference monitors cost as much as a new car. I have no clue what an 8K HDR one would cost. We don't want to know. I think the new Apple stuff is 10 bit. Not sure about the iPad Pro, but it is pretty dope.

How accurate is say a Apple M1 Pro laptop? Might be an option.
