That sort of sounds like my dick is bigger than your dick statement. There is no reason in hell to use a Red to film a wedding unless you are showing off. This isn't 2012 anymore. Who the hell shoots a wedding in all raw unless it is a quickie. Someone worth a crap can shoot a wedding on a Smartphone. The only reason Red is even still in business is they gave half the cameras they make to high end people to get exposure. Yeah years ago they were the only game in town, far, far and away from that now. They are sort of the Rolex watch of photography, more show than go.

I am sure it is the future. and it will only get better and better. GoPro seems to have figured it out, but it is on a lot smaller sensor.

Convergent Design Gemini 4:4:4 Recorder was the only real solution back in the day I remember working well in 4 4 4 mode. There was some AJI stuff, but not as popular as the Convergent. No clue on the Blackmagic, never used one.

This, and I think they have just made a total mess of the mirrorless line, crippling the living shit out of the lower stuff and just have come out with too many confusing high end stuff as of late, and none of them what they ought to be for the money asked. Not counting I am not a fan of their new Color Science. I thought I would never say that about a Canon product.

If it is the front lens it really doesn't matter much, now the rear one that is a different matter.

I have often thought about buying a set of lens spanners and some Really good small screwdrivers and buy some of the contaminated lenses online that sell for pennies on the dollar. Sure, you can't fix the elements that are glued together but. So maybe you can salvage a few instead of nearly giving them away. I like you are not going to try and trick someone into buying a bad lens. Nothing wrong in learning a few new skills.

All of the Contax Zeiss lenses are just breathtakingly great. Just jewels in your hand. Amazing engineering on all of it. And surprisingly fairly affordable compared to Leica lenses.

Hell Sony's Color Science is better for video now than Canon. They have lost their way. I was amazed looking at the latest batch of Canon cameras.

Yeah even the big name brand ones are hit and miss. I agree unless you can take one for a test drive buy a mid priced one and hope for the best.

There is no such thing as a Good cheap ass Variable ND filter, actually even the high end ones mostly suck to be honest. There is a reason people use Matte Boxes with 4x4 etc. drop in filters. No such thing as a free lunch on ND's.

Kai Wong is a crazy good photographer. One of my favorites.

That is a bit depressing. But as of late they have a lot of modes in the EOS-M. So I have been using 1080p mostly as of late. At times it can go for minutes not just seconds. It is a killer device but at my age I don't need to waste much time lol.

I am not too sure I would totally agree with that statement, but I really don't like the old well all you have to do is step back or forward to get the same viewpoint. You can't always do that and I don't want to buy super zooms just to make it even.

I too have looked a bit into it, but my Gray Matter is beginning to turn into Black Matter at my age and I see total defeat, and not really any sort of application in my life for the ass whipping I would take, not counting money it would cost. But yes, I agree it is coming and is going to be another trick in your bag you are going to need down the road.

When I watch YouTuber Zeek I want to slit my wrists on how good he makes his videos and how good his output is. I am convinced he is the only person in the world that can do it lol. It sure isn't me. I would never discourage anyone from buying one, it is the cheapest way to learn how to grade and color raw files by Far. And if you have more desire than I have to just try 2000 times to learn it well it should work, I guess, I stress, I guess. 😬
