I do know a lot about it, I was one of the original people that pushed hard for people to buy one. I Never buy anything new. I have owned hundreds of cameras in my life. So I buy used so I can enjoy them or not and sell them down the road for not much of a loss. God damn there is the internet, get off your ass and watch 100 YouTube videos and make up your own mind. Everyone has different needs. I think personally you are not ever going to find what you are looking for. So just keep the damn GoPro and get off your butt and shoot. I am done suggesting anything to you, you seem like you want to be aggressive not regressive like you ought to be when you are asking for advice.

Is the EOS-M *THE* Digital Super-8 Camera?
webrunner5 replied to Matt James Smith ?'s topic in Cameras
I have a EOS-M and when it works it is killer, but damn how often does it work right. It is the most frustrating camera I have ever owned. Main reason I bought my OG BMPCC. And even it is not easy to consistently get great results, but it is at least pretty trustworthy compared to the EOS-M. In this day and age I think both are hardly worth it with so many choices now out there used. By the time you rig out a OG BMPCC you can by the new 4K version and have a heck of a lot better luck overall getting what you are looking for, and have real 4K to boot. -
I don't know how good or bad it is. I have never owned one. There a several people on here that are way more qualified to answer that question for you.

That looks like a Very useful product if you have the need as you say. Nice catch.

I don't see why you can't have both. There has to be a way to lock the sensor block and not have it move, and just use electronic when you want and vice versa. No doubt they both have their place at times. Trouble is you are always going to loose real estate using electronic stabilization.

Laughable Chris and Jordan video on medium format
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
When I was shooting 4X5, 5X7 view cameras years ago you can get goose bumps looking at just the negatives let alone prints. Bigger is Definingly better when it comes to photography. Yeah that was a silly ass clown video. Embarrassing as heck. What a total disservice to there followers. -
You stated you want something to put in your pocket and just pull out and not have a changeable lens, well there it is a Osmo. Great stabilization, works as a selfie camera and way smaller than a GoPro. And relativity cheap.

Yeah but a M4/3 is even better, and a FF sensor is super better, where do you stop? I just sold my Sony RX0 II, my fingers are to big, but yeah it had a crazy good output and color science. So yeah even it is an improvement over a GoPro. There really isn't any great, small as heck solution when you get spoiled by a FF camera. Everything else is a compromise. Heck even a Sigma FP is really not little by the time you add the viewfinder and the handle.

Canon Cinema EOS C70 - Ah that explains it then!
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Canon sucks ass and you know it. Biggest joke as of late in my lifetime. Gimp the living hell out of everything they sell. -
What about a DJI Osmo II?

V.C. Marketing Brilliance -- Olympus Rebranded As "OM System."

I hope they didn't pay someone a ton of money to design that webpage! They probably did. 😬 -
Unimaginable tech in an item that is so small. I have no clue how people can be so smart to be able to design something like it.

Hmm I really liked the video but was surprised how poorly the camera did in low light. It sure is no A7s version. A lot of pre thought went into the scenes. Great concept.

I'll be honest I have been looking to buy a modern R series camera used and other than the R5 which I can't ever afford, I am hard pressed to see the magic CS of old days. I think a new Sony looks more like a Canon than a Canon! I think the original C300, C100, 1DC, C500 all sort of had the Canon look I liked. Now I have seen some of the R series photos that look damn good, but you can see they have been processed to hell and gone. You didn't have to do that years ago. I have lost all interest in buying the newer stuff.

Yep you are right, and I am wrong. "tele-adapter" it is.

Yeah put a Speedbooster on the Canon R and you are back to full frame. Trouble is even the R is still fairly expensive yet. Canon can't seem to make a new camera worth a crap anymore, so that inflates the used market.

A couple more generations of Phone advancements and I think for the average person a real camera is going to become damn iffy. I am amazed how good even WB is on them now.
-
Yeah the A7s even today is a pretty amazing camera. Main reason I like one is you can change up your whole mindset on shooting stuff nobody really can do, night time stuff, bars churches, on and on. It just opens up so many more opportunities, plus they are grungy looking and that adds to the excitement to try something you have never done. They are a very special camera. Plus I think photos out them have a great look aslo.

Yeah the top Los Angeles video is Really good. No one would argue about being able to produce that kind of footage, especially nighttime stuff.

Why Is Auto White Balance Recommended for Pro Color 5?
webrunner5 replied to EddyMac's topic in Cameras
Normal cameras a WAY behind what Smartphones can do now. If real cameras were like phones we would be in really good shape. I doubt they will ever catch up. But mirrorless cameras have gotten a heck of a lot better, so yeah I think you can trust it if you lock it. You are just going to have to experiment and see how it goes. There is more latitude than you think when it comes to WB. our eyes are used to seeing change so it is not as noticeable as you would think, but it is damn important just like focus and audio. Biggest take away is that you can't hurry video, it is very complex overall. To me run n gun is a dirty word in video. -
Why Is Auto White Balance Recommended for Pro Color 5?
webrunner5 replied to EddyMac's topic in Cameras
Well video is about as hard as it gets. They make it look easy on TV or in some of the fancy YouTube videos but that is about as far from the truth as you can get. If you really look hard at good videos or movies most of the shots are blocked off. Meaning they are single shots of actors or scenes that hell might have been taken weeks apart, the other actors might not have even been cast yet. So it is Easier that way to set up scenes, light them, and take WB, get focus perfect. But Auto WB has gotten better and better as of late, your A6400 ought to be pretty good at it. But you still can't run form a desert scene to a forest scene and expect it to react quick enough or fade into what you want seamlessly. You have to think ahead and figure if you need to trust auto WB or do it manually. In reality most shoots don't change that much unless you are driving through a tunnel or going from outdoors to indoors, or day and night. The whole trick to most of this is you have to shoot and shoot and shoot some more to learn your camera in all respects, how it all comes together and then you are still going to have to learn how to edit WB in your NLE because it is Never going to go perfect unless you never move from one spot to another. There are some pretty good Smartphone Apps out now that are good at Kelvin temps. On my iPhone I use one that is just called Light Meter. I also with my Sony use a gizmo called a Expodisc That you put in front of the lens to set WB on cameras that can be set. Works like an Incandecent light meter did years ago. You are not going to get even good doing video overnight; it is crazy hard to do. -
Boy I have been there a lot of times. Only place I know of that a Hot Dog costs more money there than a T Bone steak on the Mainland. Captiva is even worse. I lived in Fort Myers, North Fort Myers for 12 years. Sanibel is the seashell capital of nearly the whole world. People make 10,000s of dollars a year hunting shells there.
