I don't really think any camera is going to match your G7. Not even other Panasonic cameras. Maybe a GH3 would be the closest. Although I hated my GH3. The CS before the G7 was more wonky and more Cinematic. The CS in the G85 and above is different also. Better in most peoples eyes. More toward Canon CS. The GH4 was just a total odd duck as far as I am concerned CS wise. I hated it so bad I Never considered buying one. I have had, and still do have the latest Apple iPhones, and Maybe the Apple X might work. But not the new XS I have. It is Way better than the X, and would not come close to matching the G7. The XS is more Olympus looking than Panasonic looking. The XS is amazingly good for a Phone. But I think most all of the latest ones are getting great also. They have Really advanced in the last generation. Once they perfect folded optics, or even have 4 or 5 lenses in them game over. They are close now to that. Some even have 4 or 5 lenses now but maybe not perfected good enough yet. Yeah I think the DJI Osmo Action might work, that and a GH3. That's my 2 cents lol.

I had the RX10 mk I. It is going to be grittier than your G7. Colors won't match very well at all. It has the earlier CS of Sony cameras most people don't like. It has the same original A7s look to it. I do, but hey. I had trouble even using it because I have fat big fingers. The Aperture ring rubs on your index finger. I am sure it works for most people though. It is a damn good camera for the money they cost. I really liked mine. But it got stolen also.

If you are shy buy a 800mm lens and stand Way back lol. I don't think I could ever be a real up in your face street photographer.

Problem is we can see almost 180 degrees and that would be a what a 8mm, 10mm Fisheye lens? And yeah we sort of see like 44mm, 46mm equivalent lens wise. They picked 50mm because it is the easiest, cheapest lens to manufacture.

For video in this day and age 50mm is a tele lens. Long lenses for video unless you are a sports, animal shooter is sort of a waste of time. Now for Photos that is a whole different story. But yeah most people tend to shoot at 35mm for photos.

Phones, especially Apple phones get updates hell nearly every 2 weeks. You don't think they don't improve things, add new features with the updates? Only "real"cameras cameras do? The G7 is crap compared to a G85. How hard is that to comprehend? You are recommending a older, inferior camera for people to buy. I think it is wrong to do that. I don't care if you have had it for 10 years. It is now outdated. Bust your ass to get the colors right, but don't say it is some magic camera. It Isn't now. Was then maybe.

Bullshit. All the old times have used that. That is OK for Photos at times. You can't walk around doing that, not unless you do the Duck Walk all the time and then it still doesn't work. You are not going to walk straight down a street without it looking like you are on a Pogo Stick.

Hell recommend a Olympus EPL1. The only cost 50 bucks. 720p and all. Even has 2 axis IBIS! That makes the G7 seems super expensive to me. A 10 year old can afford it. Get a head start on other kids. Buying the cheapest ass thing sometimes bites you in the ass. No IBIS means you are pretty much stuck on a Tripod, or Monopod unless you want to look like you have Parkinson's Disease.

Sure it is cheaper for a reason isn't it. It is older than the G85. It has older tech and no IBIS. I would Hope it is cheaper. Hell a Canon 5D mk II is Half the price of a Canon 5D mk III. So you should buy the mk II and be happy. I don't think so unless you are stone cold broke. Saving more doesn't mean you Ought to buy it for that reason alone. It is not like the G7 is some really special camera like say a Canon C100 is. Sure it is a cheap way to get 4K but there is more to doing that than just the cheapest way to do it.

You people are crazy for recommending a G7 over a G85. Hell they are only like 50 dollars more than a G7 at times. One right here for 450 bucks, if you need a PaL one there is one on eBay for 415.00 Dollars. Crazy to buy a G7 for that much less money now. Well like a friend of mine says, I guess everyone down the road will be delivering Pizzas to each other lol. I see no way all of this is going to work out in the future. A 1/3 or more people's jobs are just going to be totally eliminated. I think in 5 years 30% of them will be out of business in the camera market. 16K 360 cameras will rule the roost by then. Most of them will be made by Chinese owned company's.
