The new Mac Pro + 6k monitor has landed - introducing the Cheese Graters
webrunner5 replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Kind of funny in almost the same year, 1981 as he did I paid $7000.00 Dollars for nearly the same system! So he might be right It could be a bargain. I made a Lot of money with mine. -
Z Cam's Super 35mm 6K camera for under $3K: the "Z Cam S6"
webrunner5 replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
Yeah Arri, Red is going to have to lower their price or go out of business. China is pushing at them hard. And they have just started. The PK4 proves BMD, Z Cam E2, Kinefinity 4K is Giving them away or the other company's, even Canon's C line are screwing the Pooch pretty big time. It just doesn't cost 50 thousand Dollars or more to make this stuff anymore. -
I don't think they design and change half of what you think. Read the comments more than this article. About 1/4 the way down in the comments read the comments by a guy named ZM. He seems to know his stuff about this and he sort of sets the record straight. Sony does the heavy lifting on the sensor design, others just get to pick a few things they like over others. They are Far from designing the whole sensor. Maybe just get to modify the top layer a bit, and a few maybe special dates rates, and that is about it. Plus Sony knows everything they are going to do in advance so they have a hell of a leg up on the competition. Sure they probably can't use that feature for a bit themselves but.. https://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2018/07/17/pixels-for-geeks-a-peek-inside-nikons-super-secret-sensor-design-lab

PC hard drive shipments could fall by 50% this year...
webrunner5 replied to Ty Harper's topic in Cameras
Yeah I can buy 10 cheap used servers and come up with a slick website, and pretend I have this safe as hell site with 200 years of IT experience. No way I am trusting that stuff form hacks, lost data, and oh sorry, we are going out of business, FBI seized all our shit. ? -

Well with 8K coming, and 6K likely to be a consumer standard soon that will be an even bigger burden on Cloud Services. I don't trust squat away from my own self unless I have it backed up. And if I do that why bother even with the cloud. Sure the Cloud can save you from having 2 backups at different locations, but for what you pay it almost to me for big projects not worth it. There is just way too much hacking going on as of late to trust any one with all your data, that in the long run is nothing short of suicide. -
Well I am sort of out of the loop now as they say, but I have talked to a few people in the local TV industry as of late and for Broadcast they have not given up on ENG cameras. Now they have went to some smaller ones, by that like 12, to 14 pound ones instead of the old 20, to 22 pound ones. I think a lot of it is better, lighter batteries for one, and miniaturization of electronic components. Now that is for 2 person interviews. The typical cameraman and a reporter with a mike in hand. On the solo reporting, getting more common, only have to pay one person, they have went to the really small camcorders, Sony JVC, Panasonic all make them, they are called ENG but they are not shoulder mount useful, tripod or hand held mostly. using 3, 1/3 CCDs in them, some maybe 1/2" and they are like 6 to 8 pounds, and cost like 4 to 8 thousand dollars. At local Pro sporting events around here, Baseball, Football, Soccer they are using the smaller ENG cameras, on field and off, and on the side lines they, the teams, use the small camcorders mostly. At all the big name sports stuff they still use the huge ENG camera bodies with Box 75x or better lenses on them. Broadcast Has to use the 3 CCD sensor cameras to get true 3 color separation, 4.4.4.4 is critical for all the equipment to be close to as perfect as they can get them. You don't want people to see different colors day to day and think their TV is screwy lol. And you don't want the reporters and news crew to look like aliens either. I just don't see 3 CCD cameras going away anytime soon in Broadcast. Now true some, well a lot lately are smaller sensors now, but 3 of them none the less. But I have heard of some Newspaper reporters now using Smartphones here in the USA. But they don't requires the resolution in a newspaper spread like a TV station needs. But it probably is coming down the road. Smartphones are advancing at a rapid pace. Faster than real cameras are.

Almost looks a little Too 3D a bit to me. Looks like he is walking on the water lol.

You apparently have never seen the stupid ass rig they had to use to make it happen. That thing has been around for years. https://***URL not allowed***/canon-8k-cinema-camera-first-official-footage/

Oh I would imagine probably a heck of a lot of the editing non pros do is with iMovie app. But sure, that doesn't do too well on an Android phone lol.

Yeah if I had that kind of money Atomos would not even be on my list. The Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+ would be at the top.

I thought I read or heard Only 4K 30p 4.2.2 10bit internal? So many new cameras, hard to keep up with them.

As far as I can tell that rig is like a 6,000 Dollar or more setup new. Yeah I think I would spend 132 Dollars for the feet lol. -

webrunner5 replied to Danielius's topic in Cameras
I Seriously doubt anyone makes a knock off of those feet. Probably the reason you got it cheap. Unless the tripod meets your needs and is a heck of a good tripod depends if you buy the feet from Vinten or throw it away. They make damn good stuff, but there low end is nothing to write home about just like all the others players are also. A Good, great Tripod and head cost a fortune unless you really luck out on a used one. And they are about as important as anything, even today to have. -
The Z6 has not beaten the GH5 by any stretch of the imagination. Hell the Z6 can't even do 10 bit in camera, No F Log without a recorder, 29 minute recording time, no Waveform Monitor, on and on, no Anamorphic at all. Get real.

This video, I think, Really explains what Panasonic has in mind with the S1H. It is not geared for everyone. This is really a poor mans EVA1 to be honest in a smaller form factor. This camera, I am sure the new Sony a7s mk III will be also, is just going to be an awesome Cine camera for not a lot of money. Great video cameras are not cheap, at least this month lol.
-
I think the Panny S1H might end up be the bargain of the year for all it could, and might have when it finally comes out. We could not of dreamed of a camera like this 3 years ago. I think you are underselling this camera by a huge amount. Sure I can't afford it, but if you can this thing is an industry game changer the way I see it. This camera is going to become the new norm down the road. Panasonic has given us a gift with this announcement. Every company is going to have to pick up the pace big time to match it, let alone beat it. Not counting the CS from the S1 cameras is to die for.

I really don't see the big deal with Canon EF lenses for video. I, like others on here hardly ever use AF, and non of the big 3 camera company's lens are worth having for video. They are all fly by wire. They suck ass, but only a few are any good. I just use old MF lenses I can buy for 25 Dollars that get the job done. You aren't going to use long zoom lenses, hell if you have 2 or 3 primes you are set, and a Anamorphic lens or two. I am not going to use EF lenses even on a Canon body. They suck for video. Most of them are 30, 40 years old, noisy as heck..
