Oh I am not saying the Canon EOS R is not a great camera in some respects, and if it fits your needs, which in your case it does, it is a fine camera. They just are Holding too much back for me to plow any big money into them. I am probably going to buy a EOS M in a week or so for ML. Yeah I have a few Canon EF lenses laying around and a 125 Dollar body is not going to kill me. So I am not anti Canon, Hell I would kill for a 1DC.

I have a Tokina 80-400mm and it is amazingly small for it's reach. They are like a 120 Dollars or less on ebay. Built like a tank and a bit on the heavy side due to it's construction, comes with a nice factory bag also. Even the lens hood is about 50 miles ahead of any Sigma lens hood, which are mostly crap. Use it on my Nikon. This picture shows it fully extended hood and all. My Sigma 170-500mm seems like it is 3 foot long compared to the Tokina!

Brief comparison of Nikon Z6 and EOSHD Z-Log L

Yeah I don't think Canon is the company to "hitch your wagon" on anymore. Nikon is doing better on the video side. Sony to me is the long term bet. They will match whatever Panasonic comes out with down the road. They have a Huge advantage making other company's Sensors. They know ahead of time what they are up to. More so than some Mole in a competing company. They have had, and still do have the video industry sewed up. They have had in place tons of support people and engineers to handle it. They will probably in the long run be #1 in the Hybrid segment like them or not. They have the will and the money to pull it off. Canon seems to kind of just slowly get out of the market, maybe wisely so I don't know? Down the road there is not going to be much of a market at all. -
You can get the FotoDiox ND Throttle Variable ND Filter to work with nearly Any camera. I have one and it works great, and they are cheap as hell. And Sony's new AF is even better than DPAF. Canon, unless they come out with something amazing, and soon , is fast becoming a has been company. They are far behind. The Canon ND adapter is a dust magnet more than anything. What the hell you suppose to stick in there if you Don't want a ND? I will give them credit for developing it, but it is an unfinished, half assed product.

Probably about the best info out there. https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/06/01/panasonic-s1h-full-frame-mirrorless-6k-24p/
-
Looks like it does 5.9K @30p 16x9.
-
Yeah we are forgetting 6K is up there with the big boys. When we Really find out all the specs it might be one of the best FF Hybrids you can buy if you are really serious about this stuff. We sure arn't going to buy any of the big boy toys.
-
Well this video sort of sums up our thoughts and concerns.
-
I had that lens nearly glued onto my BMPCC. ? Not too big on big rigs on cameras that were designed to be small to start with. Sort of defeats the purpose.
-
Sounds more like a lens problem to me.
-
Well I don't know enough about it yet to come to a conclusion. But I would have to trust Panasonic thinks the entry price is worth it. 6K does open up some interesting options. I will wait to say anything good or bad. It is out of my price range figuring having a L Mount. But it is getting up there other than AF with a Sony A9 price wise, and hopefully stats wise it can compete. I think one thing it proves, is people better get used to that size of Mirrorless cameras if the want 60p,10 bit or better. Panny had to have this camera in mind even when they thought of the S1.

Hmm.
-
Well it is finally out. I think maybe a few firmware updates on the Osmo Action and it might be the real bargain of the bunch.
-
Yeah but a flip screen sucks ass if you use it for taking Photos. I would much rather have it the way it is for double duty. And it is just a smaller package that way also...

Most of the travel videos from people I follow are in the 12 to 15 minute range. I am pretty impressed that these people can come up with interesting content ranging form 2 to 3 a week to one a week. It has to take one hell of a lot work to pull it off. And on average I see very few noticeable flaws in them. Most are using a Canon with DPAF DSLR, one uses a GH5, one is doing all the RX100 stuff and the RX0 mk II. And the usual suspects of a GoPro, DJI drone. I suspect the new Osmo with replace a few GoPros soon.
-
Yeah but you can't sell GH5s for more money than a FF camera is as of now. Even used the GH5s is more than a new FF camera. Panasonic is headed for a disaster doing that stuff. It is only a Very few people that are going to pay that much money. The Fuji XT-3, and now the Canon RS is WAY cheaper, are they better, I don't know, but they are nearly half the price. That is crazy when you look at it as a average consumer.
-
Yeah the way I see it is Panasonic was for years, I know they have had a pretty big presence in Broadcast years ago, not sure about now, but to the average consumer Panasonic was seen as producing great gear and at a cheaper price, mostly because of the m4/3 mount than the other companies. Now they are to me pushing their luck at going up in price and charging, 2500 to maybe 4000 dollars plus for their"consumer" products. They may be heading for disaster in the long run. They are getting way of of my price range as of late I know that much.
-
Well I think one of the main reasons Panasonic gets their competitive edge is they were smart. lucky to have had the GH style camera body to start with, and now the S1 body, both being as some people complain, being too big, large, heavy. Well it is proving to be a god send for Panny as everyone, like it or not, is going to have to come up with a larger body to deal with the excess heat. Panasonic is on a roll, but I still worry their luck is running out. This whole FF field is just Way to crowded to have any of them make a decent amount of money doing it.
-
Wow that is a very special place where you live. And it looks like you have your NX1 all figured out. Really nice video.

Yeah but doesn't the MTF ones have a glass element in them? I am not sure that is needed. They were the first company to come out with adapters for B4 lenses back in the day. I bought mine from some guy in Germany that made them in small batches for like 120 Dollars. It was Very well made with no element in it. It was as tight as a pigs ass on my cameras lol.
-
You Do not need the MTF adapters to use a B4 lens on a camera. I just used a cheap 20 dollar adapter with No glass in it and they work fine. No need to spend all that money at all. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Shop-by-Brand-MTF-Services-Ltd/ci/4/phd/4225042114/N/4294255798 I don't know how many people are on Facebook in the EU but this website has a lot of used goodies to buy. I am pretty sure you have to have a Facebook account to see it? https://www.facebook.com/groups/654906207954536/

Hmm, I must admit I have never tried that?? Not sure you would even need that function when you are talking 8x to 80x zoom lenses! But yeah the punch in would be nice. Interesting question. Not sure they would cover s35mmm at all. I know there is no vignetting in m4/3 with the doubler engaged using 2/3" lenses. You can not use 1/2" ENG lenses at all. You can for say the BMPCC with the 16mm sensor. And not even 2/3" one's without the doubler in them for m4/3. Is the ETC mode full s35 APSC? I would bet they can go a bit further than true m4/3 width wise. These lenses were designed to be used with a 3, 2/3" sensor block with a prism. One for each color resulting in a 4.4.4.4 signal. Perfect color. If you do the math they are bigger than a m4/3 sensor when you combine them. How much bigger not sure. But a good bit, I now that much. 2/3" ENG cameras are an amazing machine. They aren't a 100 thousand dollars for no reason. They make an Arri look cheap! The whole ENG rig I used 35 to 40 years ago with lens, tripod, fluid head, video light, case was close to 150 thousand dollars back then. And the TV station had 15 of them easy, all Sony, One Sony, Thompson modded, and two techs dedicated to taking care of them. Crazy, crazy money TV stations have to have to put out the news, even now. But the people working there make not a lot of money.

Hmm on the private part, fixed now I think? Sorry about that. Yes to question no. 1. It is just turning a ring that you would normally turn by hand. Most of them have a little "stem", stick sticking out with a knob on it so you can focus with it. The zoom ring the same. All the rings have threaded holes in them for that, even the Macro and Parfocal one.. Question 2. And no you can run these lenses wide open they are they good optically. Most of the lenses you find that are cheap are over 30 to 40 years old, and even then they were 10,000 dollars or more then. You would be talking a 30,000 dollar lenses now. They have incredible optics in them. They are also Macro lenses, and the have an adjustment ring in the very back to set them to be perfect for Parfocal zooming, which you have to recheck on occasion.. They are a no expense, work of art lens. Like I stated above, at the time my rig was not good enough to support my whole rig. so there is a lot of wobble and inexperience using it. Only my second try with it, and the camera. The camera was in Cine Like D with a color grade in Resolve. The AF100 is an amazing learning tool for peanuts in this day and age. A Million settings on it. ND's also. The very first picture above is my 19x lens on the G7. If you consider if you remove the adapter and the lens hood, and in your case the servo, they are not that long, or big of a lens. I am not too sure you can handhold one on a GH5, not at least zoomed out from here to the moon lol. I mean think about a almost perfect 19x zoom. Unimaginable stuff.

Yeah I don't care how talented you think you are, that was a total......you know what. Stupid is stupid no matter how smart you think you are. Off with their heads. Elitist crap. Perfectly good show that went down in flames. What a way to end. All the lead up for years to end in a Cluster F.
