Full frame rival sales figures = grim reading for everyone vs Sony
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I have always thought the Olympus EM1 series and the EM1-X have Phase Detect AF. That is why they can use the old 4/3 lenses. -
Any advantage the Z6 has to me is completely dependent on hanging a external recorder on it. That to me contradicts having a Mirrorless Hybrid camera. You might as well buy a Cine camera and be done with it. Hell that does not even include the goofy lack of any ports for a battery grip. It is their first big time effort but.. To me the Panasonic S1 kills the Z6. Not liking the mount, but the Z mount is nothing I like either. And like i have stated, I just Don't like the Z cameras CS. The D750, heck yes.

If true, sort of sounds like suicide unless they have some groundbreaking tech no one has even thought of. It just seems to be a...GoPro knockoff. We already have all kinds of those now.

That just addresses Clipping, mostly bright lights at night, LEDs in particular. And that in reality is just a Bandage. They need to change the camera, not change a setting in the NLE. That has nothing to do with Reds that are Suppose to be Orange. So instead of the right color, it just makes the Wrong color less over the top. Hardly a fix.

It is pretty insane even now with the new firmware update and price drop. -
Hmm PK4 ends up being pretty heavy handed with Red. A known problem on here, not addressed by BMD. Camera, or it doesn't like Resolve?

There was a Western here called Gunsmoke that ran for years and years. And it was all shot on film. The early stuff was in B&W and it is just jaw dropping beautiful even on re runs. No clue the resolution, but man it was, and is special. That picture does not do it any justice. https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/tv-show-gunsmoke?mediatype=photography&page=2&phrase=tv show gunsmoke&sort=mostpopular&license=rf,rm&recency=anydate&suppressfamilycorrection=true

That thing may have the best modern output hands down of all the new cameras. That stuff is impressive as heck in that video. Wow, and the CS is special also. I can only imagine a $10,000 Dollar Leica lens on a S1R.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I really don't see what is the big deal about all the battery concerns on the PK4. Unless you are using it for Documentary stuff, who the hell shoots minutes and minutes, hours and hours at a time? You are allowed to have more than one battery with you. What is it, just going to be spay and pray, with I hope I am getting something worth a crap 2 hours at a time? Oh I am going to miss something. You really think you are going to be exactly where an Asteroid falls to earth, or on the corner of a 30 car pile up, a UFO lands? What, you are Just going to use one lens, never change filters, walk around until you arms fall off, or your back hurts so bad you have to quit from leaning over the tripod? -
"So, this is how you can better judge the filter effect: disable Exposure preview in Manual Mode if you use the camera in manual exposure mode if in auto exposure mode, half-press the shutter button to fix exposure before you start rotating the filter, or lock exposure by pressing the AE-L button (configure it to act as a toggle button) before you start rotating the filter - again in auto exposure mode"

I think half the reason the M50, M100 is so popular in Japan is because you can buy it in White and Red also. Probably Pink truth be known. 10 to 17 year old girls probably buy the vast majority of them.
-
If you are just going for the best output for video I don't see how you can beat a PK4 for the money. If you want to take photos, shoot at a faster pace, well it probably is not a good option. I believe it would be a Huge upgrade output wise to your GH4.

Z-CAM quietly announce 8k and 6k FULL FRAME cameras - no joke!
webrunner5 replied to Oliver Daniel's topic in Cameras
I don't see what good the source clip is either. Flat as hell footage looks like...well flat footage from every camera that can shoot it. So what am I suppose to do grade it? Well then it will look sort of like what his graded footage looked like in the video. Not many people on here are talented as hell with grading. Maybe you don't remember the Fiasco with the "original" Flat footage from the PK4 on here. Raw footage doesn't mean much to me. Show me the Money as they say, the finished footage. -
I can't help but thinking using a camera like the RX10 mk IV is not a better, easier way to just go about it. Why worry about lenses. All in one stuff is, even a camcorder is designed for a reason, potability with less hassle. It is why ENG cameras are used, ease of use in fast changing situations. Who needs the bulk and hassle on family outings. You can even go backwards on models with the RX10 and have a constant F stop, and ND filters. I doubt you need all the reach of the latest model lens wise.

Oh man when I worked in Broadcast it was Amazing how complex switching was just on the cabling side alone, not counting the cost of the console. It was crazy expensive.

I don't think the argument ought to be 1080p versus 4K, it ought to be how sharp is the output of the final product. It is like the difference between a Canon C100 1080p, and say a Canon 5D mk II, or even a 80D. Heck the C100 looks like 4K because it is automatically downsampled from 4K. Night and day difference in 1080p. The A7s versus the A6300 is another good example. Sharpness is what determines resolution nearly as much as the resolution its self. I know it is more complicated than that, but you get my point... I hope lol. ? Heck even brigtness determines it a lot. Look a that latest Game of Thrones thing. Hell it is so dark it could have been 12K and it would not have made a crap. You can't see resolution when you can't even see the output.
-
Wow that is some impressive Tech! Man how the world has changed in the last few years.
-
Well if all you have is a 720, 1080p monitor or TV doesn't show hardly at all. But if you have a 4K TV or monitor I think it shows up like a sore thumb. And yeah like @Jrteh says, you can see it even now on Smartphones.

Oh I can see why a person won't change NLEs. Editing, grading is hard enough let alone learning a new one. But I think Resolve is going to be the #1 NLE sooner than later. I am not too sure Resolve will ever have ProRes Raw. Grant Petty I believe sort of hates it and Apple. No surprise. -
Some better than others, not surprising. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/picture-quality/wide-color-gamut-rec-709-dci-p3-rec-2020

Resolve and bRaw are totally free, and bRaw is a open Codec that is FREE for anyone to use in their cameras and anyone's NLE. That is a Hell of a lot different than Forcing you to Only use a Apple, and FCP, a Apple product, and Having to pay a license to Apple to even have it in your camera, or NLE, and having to pay Apple for FCP, no free version. See how many F ing times you have to Pay Apple. You don't have to pay BMD anything unless you want the full version of Resolve, and even then it is for life it seems, and only 299 bucks. And they didn't charge a dime when they introduced the bRaw upgrade. Even Panasonic wants to rip your ass for V Log, Sony is good at it also. I don't see how anyone can be Anti BMD. They have done more for the average guy to make stuff affordable than the rest of them combined. -

I wouldn't hold your breath that Resolve uses it.
