Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
"ProRes RAW Post Production. As we know, ProRes is owned by Apple. ... So the only way to edit ProRes RAW, is currently with Final Cut 10. Unfortunately there is no support for Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects as well as no support on BlackmagicDaVinci Resolve.Feb 11, 2019" So you are going to Lick Apple's ass. And if you don't own an Apple, or use FCP you are shit out of luck. To me it is a no starter. -

Pretty good article about it. I think the comments say more than the article. BMD obliviously is never going to use it in their cameras now that they have bRaw. I doubt Red or Arri is going that way. And I am not positive, but I think you Have to use an Apple computer to use it. So that is another turd. And is Resolve ever going to let you use in it it? Might be a good idea but looks like you are going to have to kiss Atomos's butt, and lick Apple's ass to use it.... https://www.newsshooter.com/2018/05/07/understanding-prores-raw-is-it-prores-or-is-it-raw/ -
It is like Steven Soderbergh that shoots all his stuff now on an iPhone. Does that mean he is right. No, I think he is crazy as bat shit for doing it, and I am a iPhone fan. Dark is dark I don't give a shit how artistic the director thinks it is. Sounds like he is bat shit crazy also. Some people on here sound pretty much like Sheeple to me. If it ain't worth a fuck I don't give a fuck who filmed, or directed it, it is still shit..

For just Photo editing I don't think you can beat the free version of DXO OpticsPro 11. The Smart Lighting check box is worth it alone. I don't have the paid latest versions, I used to keep up with them, but don't do enough photo stuff anymore to justify them over the free, few year old version, 11. https://support.dxo.com/hc/en-us/categories/203275007-DxO-OpticsPro-11

Is the EOS-M *THE* Digital Super-8 Camera?

Pretty amazing footage for a camera you can buy for $150.00 Dollars. Well done. -
He likes it...a lot.

The 5 minutes of 4K/15p video ought to be lovely from it lol. ☹️ But yeah that is a heck of a deal for the HD video, and Photo part.
-
Yeah media cost then were crazy The Panasonic P2 stuff was just as bad.

Yeah they are getting pretty long in the tooth now, but you can't argue about the form factor if you need that it for that kind of shooting it is great at.. Interesting one here using a Canon B4 lens and an Anton Bauer Battery. The standard Fujinon lens is pretty hard to beat. Great ENG, Run n Gun, Doc camera. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-PMW-EX3-16-GB-High-Definition-Camcorder/254211280554?epid=100005313&hash=item3b302c4eaa:g:7l8AAOSwRaFcn-MO&frcectupt=true Sony went their own way with them on CS, I prefer the C100 probably better, but a heck of a lot of people bought a EX3 over them. I think the Fuji Lens and the allure of 3 CCDs helped the Sony. It was more of a pick it up and go package. Sort of like the original Canon XL1, XL2. Those were the cats ass back in the day.

That is good knowledge to know. Thanks. That would certainly make grading easier.
-
I thought the night shots looked pretty good. Obliviously better than the OG camera can do. But most of the daylight stuff was pretty terrible. And yeah the teal, orange grade was a bit much. I don't think the grading was too bad, I think who ever shot the daylight footage screwed up on the exposure side, and that is the best they could pull out of it. Some of the daylight stuff looked good, but very little, so I think is was more operator error than anything, along with the goofy Teal coloring. But too bad, it was an interesting glimpse of a place few have seen.

They Still bring as much or more money than a Sony PMW F3 at times. There was, and still a ton of people that use or used them. Never had one, but wished I had. A workhorse.

Other than these new Z cameras, in the last few years Nikon has pretty much just sat on their ass and watched the world go by resting on their laurels. No breakthroughs to amount to spit. And that dumbass stuff with their 1" cameras, what a Jackass decision, no D750 replacement, on and on.. Personally I see the Z cameras as a total desperation attempt by them. Sink or swim. And I don't think it is some run away success for them by any means. This Panny S1, S1R, EOS-RS didn't help their cause at all. -

And it will be 99.99999% certain it will be a flop then if true. Other than the D500 I doubt Nikon has sold 100 DX cameras in the last year. I would bet Canon has outsold Nikon in APSC cameras 10 to 1 in the last couple of years. Other than the D500 Nikon has not made a DX camera worth buying since the D7200. -
I think the Ursa Mini sensor is along the lines of the BMCC Production 4k camera. So it probably will look different than the BMPCC, BMCC, BMMCC cameras.

C-Log: When to use it and which camera? EOS R vs c100 mkii
webrunner5 replied to BrunoLandMedia's topic in Cameras
Looks to be the same as a Panasonic GH5s. So OK, but not great. https://***URL not allowed***/canon-eos-r-review-shooting-a-mini-documentary-in-india/ -

True, but if they come out with the Z mount on them I think they are doomed. You might as well buy a cheap FF, which Nikon is going to have to do to compete with e Canon RS. People are not going to pay more money for a lens than the camera cost in that bracket. Plus with the rise of Smartphones, I am not sure how many customers are really even left in the APSC market anymore. It really might not even be worth Nikons effort. The real hardcore enthusiasts APSC users are firmly in the Fuji, Pentax camp anyways. They are the ones that throw money at them. I really doubt Mom and Pop are running out in droves to buy cheap DSLRs, or Mirrorless cameras now. Those days are over with. Actually camera sales of any kind are nearing a end for anyone but hardcore shooters. Couple more advances on Smartphones and it is why even bother for the average user. Sure we might buy them, but that is not enough people to bother to even make them unless they raise the price to crazy money again like they were 6 years ago. I sure as heck would not want to be in the camera business long term as of now. It has to be a dead end road selling in any volume to make it worth it, Mirrorless or not. -
Interesting what Roger says about Voigtlander lenses on Lens Rentals. "OK, I stated on the last set of tests that I despise Voigtlander lenses. That’s because they simply can’t be repaired reasonably and parts are not available, so they are basically disposable lenses. But, I have to say, I was markedly impressed by the 25mm Voigtlander’s performance. And this lens provides by far the widest aperture at a middle-of-the-road $800 price tag. You pay a weight penalty because of the metal housing (and if you think a metal housing makes lenses more reliable, come spend a day in our repair shop). But you get a 10-bladed aperture with that. And yes, I’m aware a lot of you won’t consider a manually focusing lens. But some of you will".

You know they will Gimp the hell out of it somehow. It might be a Turkey. Canon had better wake up on it, they are in a Hell of a crowded field now. This isn't just them and Nikon battling it out anymore. DSLRs now are really pretty much dead. Unless you are a Wildlife or a Sports shooter there is no reason to buy one anymore. And a APSH, APSC makes more sense anyways on both just for the extra reach of the crop sensor. Heck I keep reading about more and more people going to the Olympus EM1 X. It's cheaper than the top DSLRs, so why not. Crazy good IBIS is hard to turn down, along with lighter lenses.

Yeah they are a smaller package overall than that picture shows. A camera i was amazed at is how damn big the Canon C700 is. Wow. With a Cine Zoom on it, and a V Battery, Yikes, It felt bigger than the old ENG cameras, but not as heavy, which is nice. It balanced well with the Canon zoom, so I guess they know what they are doing. I had just put down a Sony FS5 so probably not a fair judgment lol. They seem almost to me too small. -
The EOS-R Should have been $1999.00 to start with. I have no clue why Canon thought they had something so special that it would end up costing the most money of the bunch.

Yeah when you start buying new Native FF lenses you wish you Had stayed with m4/3. Only advantage is there are a ton of old FF lenses around, especially MF ones. I kind of agree with you. I think FF is more of a fad now that is not going to hold up down the road. One thing is the field is too crowded to have all of them make it.

PK4, the Z Cam E2, and the Kinefinity 4K all use the same sensor as the GH5s as far as I know. A Sony sensor. It has proven to be a damn good sensor.
