Why don't you just use your 360 rig? Maybe a Better 360 rig? Probably not water proof but do you Really need it to be. Other than 2 GoPros or such what else is waterproof?

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Depends on what type of stuff you are going to shoot and budget. Does it Have to be 4K, well I guess it will have to be, duh on my part, you have lighting, or access to it or not, on and on. You buying or renting. Lots of variables. Sony FS7 seems to be the flavor of the day for most people. Might be too big for you?? Heck the PK4 is probably Netflix approved by now. Cheap thrills. The dreaded list. Not sure it is 100% up to date but.. https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/cameras-netflix-original-films-series/ -
I have an Old Manfrotto Monopod with the Pistol Grip on it. I took the safety off of it. Slows you down too much. I find it works better and faster for Photo and Video than ones that have sections in it. There is a video on this website that shows how he holds it, same one I have, and I do the same, especially for Photos. I used to do a lot of Zoo photos BiF stuff, and some video, and you need to be fast to work your way around in the crowds. I think it might be good even for weddings getting different angles that others miss. That is what you have to be, different. http://www.carolinawildphoto.com/podtechnique.htm

Oh I am sure the S1 is using the latest HDMI standard. The GH5 is getting pretty long in the tooth now in this fast changing world. And I doubt they cut corners, I have always thought Panasonic has always put pretty much all the latest Tech available there is into their stuff at the time. It is using an older HDMI version, like any 3 year old camera is. Now they are not going to creep up on their higher end stuff feature wise but.. I really don't think there is Any video camera that has more features in it, Prosumer or Pro than the GH5 has even to this day.

Hey I can afford the stuff, no big deal to me. Apple doesn't cost any more money here than Samsung stuff. I buy all brand new stuff from Apple every time their new stuff comes out. Now you couldn't give me an Apple computer but.. You probably have to pay a big tariff in Greece. And all the later Samsung's I have had were just pretty much a fire hazard, exploding piece of crap. Plus iPhones, iPads have about 10 times as many Apps, especially for Photo, Video than Android. Both my MoonDog and Moment Anamorphic lenses were Only useful on a Apple , same as my Field Monitor app I use with my iPad. Also most of my family have them so I can use Facetime which Android doesn't have. And I have a Apple watch which I have to have a iPhone for. You can buy what ever you want, and I will buy what ever I want. I have Zero desire for a Android phone. They even gimp the CPU's in Samsungs here in the states for being able to Rip them. Why would I buy into that. Plus Apple is an American company, why wouldn't I support them. Personally I think the Samsung Fold is a total piece of shit that will never take off. Stupid design. And no way in hell I am paying 2000 bucks for Any company's phone. I am done with a Samsung Note, had 4 of them, and I am not even buying a iPhone XS Max. Had the chance when I bought my XS. Way too big. I don't watch TV or movies either. So no need for a huge screen.

Yeah but that crop in 4K 60p is just the pits. You are sort of screwed if you want to do 4K Slo Mo unless you shoot in s35, and I am not sure you can like a Sony a7 series camera is able to? People complain about the crop in 4K in the EOS-R, but this is nearly as bad. You might as well buy a Fuji X-T3 if you are going to shoot in s35. Cheaper, and it actually can focus.
-
They are going to be a damn tough sell at 2000 Dollars. Sure the extra real estate is great, but not at twice the cost. I would just rather have a Mini iPad and a iPhone for the same money.. And you know down the road the screens, hinges are going to fail.

Speaking of tripods or monopods, one of the best items I have ever bought is a gizmo that goes into where the Long Manfrotto foot is on their tripods. And a lot of other tripod manufactures use the Manfrotto standard or Arca Swiss. The problem is when you take the long foot out of the tripod when you are using a DSLR or a Mirrorless camera is the foot is hanging what seems like 2 inches front and back of the body. This thing goes into the slot and turns 90 degrees, that way it latches, clamps on your camera body sideways. Then it is a LOT smaller footprint, and all of it is under the base of your camera. It is great to put it mildly. Cost like 39 Dollars, but is well worth it, at least in my eyes. Only drawback, but same problem with the long foot, is you can't just sit it down flat on a table when it is attached to your body. No more tripod foot sticking in your mouth or throat anymore lol.. Now it does not come with a Arca Swiss plate of any kind. I have a really small one I use I keep attached to the camera body, actually I have several of the Arca Swiss ones for each kind of body... https://www.promediagear.com/PM501-Manfrotto-Type-QR-Plate-with-Arca-Swiss-Type-Clamp-Built-in-For-501PL-502-504-Nitro-RC3-RC5-NG-Heads-Ronin-S_p_343.html

Well I think one of the main reasons, at least to me is I want a lens that has character. Most new lens are squeaky clean and near perfect edge to edge. I know that is in now but if you are shooting women, especially older women you really don't want it razor sharp. I sort of like the Russian lenses. Cheap and kind of poor Zeiss copies with a lot of, dare say...problems, but still they have a unique look to them. It depends on the shoot, but some people like stuff crystal clear and some like things a bit hazy. But truthfully it depends on the camera you have. Soft lenses on a soft camera, not so good lol.

Good definition of Knee, Point, and Slope by Tom Roper.. "Raise your hand above your head. The height of your shoulder above the floor is the Knee Sat Level. The height of your elbow above the floor is the Point. The amount of bend at your elbow is the Slope". Knee adjustment really only helps much in very bright situations. When I was doing my ENG thing that was one of the few adjustments we were allowed to adjust in the field. And it was only used if you were forced to shoot into the sun, or really bright lights. And even then nothing too drastic on the curve part. You are not going to gain much DR at the top no matter what you do, but it does tend to look ugly blown out, even to an untrained eye more so than say crushed Blacks. Video is more about compromises than anything else. Hardy any perfect scene to shoot unless you are on a Hollywood studio set where they have all of it covered. That to me is why I am not too big of fan of Run n Gun though a lot of the short, or a lot of quick cuts. Unless the story is just so amazing you can't look away, you can't maintain smooth transitions very easy exposure wise. And you can't recover something in Post that was never there.
-
True, but this is why you pay 75000 Dollars for a Mini. At the 5 minute mark is where the Mini just Kills the C200 on DR. Now are we buying a Mini, well no sad to say. But it is what separates the men from the boys. We have come a long way quick for cheaper consumer stuff, but DR is what really makes the Pro looking stuff look realistic. Maybe this organic sensor thingy will pan out to use on for us, cheaper cameras?? But the first half of the video I think the C200 holds it own, and maybe even wins at times for CS.

Oh I am not saying Don't use a Monopod at all, but I think you might go with a normal tripod for awhile until you get used to using the camera. I use a Monopod myself at times, but I don't use a Fluid Head on one, and I don't have one with the feet either. One gust of wind, or someone wanting to look at the screen or touch it, or you swinging your arm around, ouch. I think until you get really familiar with it I would stay with a Tripod. Buy the Monopod with the head and just find a good used Tripod on the web or Craigslist. That way you can swap the head between them. I like Tripods with a Half Bowl. It is WAY easier to get the camera level really fast. That adjusting the legs thing is the pits. Find a Heavy Tripod, and I even hang a Gallon Jug of water off the bottom of them or use something else heavy. When you are done you just pour out the water and bring the empty bottle home. You can't have too steady of a tripod. The nice thing about a Monopod is they are a lot faster to move, but I have used my Tripod with the legs unfolded and move it around like that. But you can't really pan with one that way. Everyone has different needs and likes. You will figure out your sweet spot. Video is a Lot different from Photo work for Tripod, Monopod usage. And a nice thing is if you have a nice fluid head you can use that for wildlife better than the normal swing gimbals most use in photography for your photography. A lot more Fluid, pun intended.

I kind of doubt it is a camera or a Ninja V problem. It is more of a HDMI problem. The Z6 is probably using a newer version of HDMI. There is a reason Pro stuff uses SDI connections, even Fiber for really long runs, not counting a more secure connection.
-
Good, and MAYBE you can post it in the Nikon Z6 forum. I have never used a JPEG as frame grab, but then you Are different I guess.

Sometimes a Good copy is not what you want. But the biggest risk is Fungus and that usually is a bummer. Not really easy, or maybe impossible to repair. Some of it really doesn't show up as much as you think. But it could contaminate the rest of your good lenses. I keep my old stuff in a separate bag from newer stuff. I don't even put newer lenses in an old camera bag I have bought or found used.

Yeah 2TB is sort of a dangerous amount of data to put in one basket as they say unless you are doing Documentary's all day, and even then I would not risk all that data on one storage device. Just get 2 or 3 smaller ones. Better way to go. That way you can forget and leave 2 of them at home and really be unhappy lol. That is the first thing you will find out is how much you forget to bring, or Gee I NEED to buy a Heck of a lot more stuff. Not too fond of using a Monopod with a camera with a touchscreen. And the PK4 is an odd shaped body to start with. Especially a camera you are leaning on. Might get interesting lol. It is damn hard to get a lot of minutes of video unless you just turn it on and sort of walk away. I have been out for hours, and shot 15 minutes of footage, and felt good about getting that. ?
-
Because old guys can make shit happen even with old stuff. It is not cameras, it is skill. You act like they just F ing invented video cameras last week. ENG cameras, even old ass ENG cameras All shoot 12 or 14bit 4.4.4. Even a old Sony F3 can do that with the upgrade in it. That is pure color. You keep talking 12 bit Raw. It is not even out yet in the Z6, Z7. bRaw Is 12 bit already And they are 10 bit in regular old ProRes. You can't do 10 bit or even Log without a Recorder on the Nikons. BMD cameras just have Way better CS than any Nikon has out of the box for video. They make Cine cameras, not Hybrids. And Nobody in their right mind is going to use a Z6 as a B cam to a C200 unless it is some broke ass people, get real. That is Hillbilly shit. You might as well just whip out your Smartphone, or run down and get a EOS T2i for 150 bucks from a Pawn Shop that would match better.
-
You are Totally on drugs if you think your Nikon looks as good as bRaw, or ProRes HQ on the PK4. It is not even half as good as the footage I showed from the OG BMPCC with a piss ass little s16mm sensor. You must have had a Barbie Cam before you bought the Z6 to think it is some groundbreaking improvement..

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I couldn't find any info about the original video, actually even that short. But maybe he will loan you some of his Gear, he as a little bit of it! Not Realy sure why you would Need that many lens. Maybe he has a bad case of GAS, and the money to carry it out. -
And then you can't come close to the output of the PK4 in video with the Z6 either. So there are compromises on any camera. I don't think many on here are buying a camera for Photo ability as a big priority other than maybe @BTM_Pix And he is likes cameras anyways, he has a Eh, a Leica, heck even a Nikon D4s, a LS300, a Sigma, on and on. Hmm, he is as crazy as I used to be! But he makes a buck doing it, so he is forgiven. But a all in one camera wouldn't hurt his feelings I would imagine.
-
I would think the size and weight of it would be more of a plus than a negative for hand held work. You have to have some decent bulk, and something to really hold on to to get stabilized footage walking.
-
90% of the film was shot on the SLR Magic 12mm and Voigtlander Nokton 42.5mm, with a Kowa 8mm, Angenieux 12-120, Pentacon 300, and a Nokton 17.5mm accounting for the rest.
-
Video or not I am still not am not buying one. Like I said, I am not buying Any of the new cameras. None of them, other than the PK4, too much to add to really get it to function, bring anything I need to the table that is not already out for less money. I am not a big Hybrid fan anyways. They are a compromise on both fronts. But I am sure a Z6, Z7 can get the job done. It just takes a lot more effort than I want to out into it to make it happen. Enjoy it.
