Now are those photos or frame grabs? They are certainly sharp enough for the price of the lens. Really nice.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Because the new stuff doesn't look any better than the old stuff. Now if you Have to have 6K, 8K you have to go new. And you paid big ass money for new, maybe flawed, unproven stuff. How many Z mounts lenses people going to buy for it. Not many I bet. So you are not even getting the best out of it it can do. And you keep talking Photos. Hell it doesn't have many more mp than a m4/3 camera. I can put a SB on a m4/3 and get damn near as big as full frame. Now if you had the Z7 that might be a different story for Photos. But then it is even worse for video. I am sure the Panny S1R will be also. Sometimes big is not better for video, or new. When it comes to just flat out good looking video the PK4 is going to win on this new stuff. But it needs too much add on stuff to make it as practical as say the EOS-R or the a7 III. But all of them can make video happen new or old, it is just some are a hell of a lot easier, better suited to make that happen. I just think the Nikon is the new kid on the block playing with the big boys now. You can't just be good, you have to be great to stand out. Now on the Photo side it may be the strongest. Well the Panny S1, but that is still unknown in the long run. I am sure the Nikon is Way better AF wise. CS wise between them in Photo I have not bothered to look. Not interested either. The newer CS on Panny cameras, particularly on the GH5s is pretty good. Most everyone had caught up with Canon, or nearly copied them CS wise. Sony looks like they have even surpassed Canon on AF now. Crazy times right now on the video side. Photo side, Ho Hum. But the eye focus, eye tracking is a nice touch for Photos. But Sony has has that for years now. -

Ah and here I thought you liked me. ☹️ I have reached an age when I don't sugar coat anything. You have your opinion, I have mine. You just are riding the wrong horse for the job. You took a Pony to a Cattle Drive. Nikon has Far Far less experience on the video side than the other players. And it shows. And they will probably always be behind. -

I am not trolling shit. If you are going to try and make a living with any of the newer Mirrorless cameras the Nikon Z6 would be on the bottom of the pile. It is the worse on all of them for features you need to get the job done. And I would argue it also has the worse CS. Sure the 4K crop on the EOS-R is the pits, but it has great AF, CS, and everything in camera you need tool wise. Someone always has to be last and the Nikon is it simple as that. There isn't a person on here but, you know who, is going to use the Z6 over the GH5 if you have an important, only one chance in hell to do it, video shoot. Will it get better, sure it will, but as of now it is not repeatable reliable. Is it a crappy camera, heck no, but it is still last. -

True nobody for one thing is even going to rent something you can buy for 2000 bucks or less very often.. Just buy the damn thing. I am sure they will have them, but won't get rich stocking them. -

There isn't ANYONE, even Hollywood that Needs FF. It is just a F ing money grab to get people to by more shit. The 16mm sensor in the OG BMPCC proves you don't need shit for a sensor size, just good voodoo on the sensor and good Codecs. -

I really doubt may people on here are going to throw their GH5 away and run out and buy a Z6 to shoot money shoots with. Sure if you want to go FF, HIGHLY over rated for video, it is in the running. All you have to give up, nah. -

Good points also. Yeah I doubt many would turn a C200 down if they had the money. Great CS, and AF, That combo is what you kill to have. -

Show me footage of ANY 12bit Nikon Raw video! And sure I edit after I post. I am old, I am slower than you young Whipper Snappers. ? When you say a Nikon Z6 is better than a GH5 for video that is just silly. They are night and day apart. And the Nikon you really Have to have an external recorder to do much of anything video wise with it. WTF. But they will get it better down the road. -
I kind of like Mushy looking stuff better than eye bleeding sharp stuff. Year the X3000 has really good stabilization no doubt. And sure, adding a mike on top does fit the Sony better. Philip Bloom is into 360 pretty big time and he seems to think 8K or better or go home. 20K Ought to get the job done lol. I am not too big a fan of 360. I am doing good to see 90 degrees, maybe even 60! ?.

You can go out and buy a Nikon D800 and take photos for 800 bucks.. Why would people buy a whole new mount just to do that. You can buy a Sony A7r for 600 bucks. Photo cameras have made Zero headway in the last 6, 7 years. Real camera photography is going the way of the Dinosaur. Shame really, but it is what it is. Sony seems to have been willing to throw all and any of their customers under the bus to advance. I don't see that changing to be honest. I really doubt the a7s mk III is just going to be some modest update. And all this Raw stuff. Hardly anyone is really going to use Raw as a recording media, even Pros. It is a data hog, not easy to grade, it is if you are skilled, but how many are, and who has the computer to even do it. I think it is more of a fancy selling gimmick than a true benefit to the masses. The C200 has proved that . I think even bRaw is going to prove to be not as great a Codec as BMD is touting in the long run. I doubt many other company's are going to adopt it. And BMD probably represents 2% of the total market for cameras. The Atomos thing probably stands a better chance, but how many can afford to add a Recorder to an already expensive camera and lenses. Not a lot. -

Yeah that would be easy for them to do. And I think it would sell. I know I am hard on Nikon here, but I think for a very first effort on Mirrorless they have done pretty well. They will get the warts polished on them and move forward. But I still think someone is going to bite the dust in the FF market. It could be Panny also to be honest. I think the L mount thing is sort of a "strange" way forward. Their AF isn't going to help the cause either. -
Very interesting idea.

I think it is surprisingly good for as old as the camera is. I guess good grading helps lol. Just goes to show, skill helps. I don't know, the Protune 2.7 on the on the latest GoPros is not that bad, as is the stabilization. What are you talking the new Sony RXO mk II, or the Sony FDR X3000? I think I would rather have an Osmo Pocket over the X3000 unless you want an all weather camera. The form factor of the Sony is just, well..odd.

webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I probably never will own one either. You won't either, you are too cheap, and I am too poor.. They will have to depend on Sony, and so Sony Always knows what they are up to. They are just too small of a company. Sony, Canon and Panny have been making Pro level stuff too long for them to catch up. Plus they have no upward path to go to. So if you get serious into them then what, you buy a Sony? Silly stuff. Dead end company on the video side as far as I am concerned. I can see Fuji taking over their #2 spot, Sony also. Then it will get hairy, real hairy as Nikon has no other real big time business to fall back on. A couple of Missteps and they are done. Somebody is going to bit the dust with all these company's into FF. I would put my Money on Nikon loosing. The photo side is dead for all of them. Smartphones are eating in their ass more everyday. Nobody even prints anymore, why do you need a 41mp camera? -

webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Oh hell just about anything kills the AF100 now, but it is a learning tool. A way to experiment on the cheap. It is a camera you can take some pride on as saying You got great footage of it, not a camera on Auto everything. Cine Like D on it is not as shabby as you would think. It is just not so hot on highlight roll off. And a GH5 will just flat kick your Z6's ass on a job. The Nikon is a half ass first attempt, not surprisingly. The GH5 is a polished, finished camera. There is not a F ing way in hell you are going to use the Z6 on a high pressure high paying job and pull if off. It is lacking too much stuff you Need to have. Not going to see any crushed blacks on that video because you are not shooting anything that is black or really low light. My iPhone could shoot that scene. But her hair was spot on exposure wise I will give you that. Looked great. Any camera made today can cover Rec.709. -

webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Well None of the new mirrorless cameras I would buy right now. They are all too flawed for me right now other than the GH5. Most require a external recorder, or as much crap hanging off of one, PK4, then you paid for the camera. The Sony a7 III is not too bad, but FF lenses for it are breathtakingly expensive, and like all the major brands ,the fly by wire lenses just suck ass for them on the video side. With all the bullshit, if a person is serious, you might as well just buy a used Cine camera and be done with a lot of the troubles. You figure that people have made a full time living with something you can buy used now for 3,500 bucks or less on the Cine side. Once you have owned one having all they offer is damn hard going to a Hybrid, at least to me. And for super cheap the OG BMPCC is still a better output than Any of the Mirrorless are if you are gong for a Cine look. Now for modern, Corporate, Doc work you want a C100, C300 of some kind. It just depends how serious you are I guess. I have serious doubts how many people Really need 4K yet in the is day and age. But no do all camera is Ever going to be as good or convenient as a dedicated Cine camera, new or old. Now if you are into Drone work well a Mirrorless is a good option but the new DJI 1" sensor ones are as good for most stuff, and cheaper, easier in the long run. This having a good video camera and a good Photo camera all in one is still not a reasonable reality in my mind yet. Might never be. You just am not ever going to have all the manual buttons, switches, battery capacity you really need to use, because of learned muscle memory. If you are just going to toy around with video, nothing wrong with that, you might as well use your Smartphone, or buy a GoPro, or an Osmo Pocket. If you aren't making some kind of money off of the stuff you have I don't see throwing tons of money at something whether you can even afford it. Just go out and buy a old Panasonic AF100 or a Sony FS100 and learn how to operate a once decent Cine camera, and learn what they can and can't do. Skill trumps Any equipment. And having a half assed hybrid doesn't help the situation. -

I don't see using S Log in them how you are going to get it to work without ETTR. And if you are not using S Log why bother even buying or renting it. Maybe not S Log 3 all the time but. And yes the viewfinder doesn't change much no matter what you do. The FS7 mk II is one of the best out there now for the money. -

Oh bullshit. The new Sony Venice CS is one of the best on the market now. It looks more Canon than Canon is. You are just talking out of your ass now. And the new Nikons have the worse out now. Fuji and Canon makes the new Nikon CS look like Hammered Dog Shit. And I liked Nikon until this turkey landed. I even have a Nikon DSLR. They need their ass beat. They must have hired the 3 Blind Mice for this new CS. -

Well if you have crushed blacks, like all of it seems to be, you have really no data in there to recover. Sure you can lighten it up , but there will be little to no detail left to see the Gradients that should have been there. There is no free lunch. If you could just do that with raising the shadows up later then why even bother with any exposure, just point and shoot, fix in Post. Same goes for blowing out the highs. There is no data to recover. You end up with like 7 stops of DR If you are lucky. Not counting if you get it right in camera you have less editing to do. Sure, we hopefully have the skill to push stuff around in post but the average person is not going to grade nothing, and they shounldn't be expected on Auto to Have to. I am not sure if you raise the exposure on these new Nikons to avoid the crushed blacks is there room at the top to Not blow out the highs? Maybe not, Nikon may be trying to preserve the highs as it is worse to blow them than crush the blacks. It is a odd duck CS if you ask me. Nothing I like very much. Nikon has somewhat in the last few years been known, at least on the camera photo side, as having a lot of DR, room to recover stuff. And it is a Sony Sensor, with Nikon's "secret sauce" in it so it ought to be capable. But they seemed, Nikon, to really change direction on these new ones. The older Nikons had some pretty great looking OOC CS. Interesting, surely no one complained about the D750 OOC look? -
I would guess the the i stood for injection, Ergo, Electronic Fuel Injection. It sort of looks like an Acura Integra GS from back in the day, at least up front. And Wow that is some Really black paint on it also. Nice looking car.

I have a feeling Sony is going to come out, like someone on here said, with some groundbreaking stuff on the a7s mk III that is going to knock everyone else on their Butt. They have not dragged this out this long for no reason. They are not just going to add 10 bit, 4k 60 and be done. They would Just be even at best doing that. I really doubt Sony is just going to pull a Samsung and get out of the camera business.

Well there is nothing wrong with making a buck. Glad it is working out for you. I did weddings for years back in the film Hasselblad days. But taking up a lot of weekends got pretty boring after years of it. What I really liked was doing Model Portfolios lol. I wonder why? I met some girls, women that I knew for years through it. It was gratifying in more ways than one. They are in reality pretty challenging not to make it look like a Porn shoot to be honest. I used to practice on my wife in the beginning. It is not as easy as it looks to do well. Some of them went on to make a buck or two at it modeling, etc. Nice to know I helped. And it helped my skills also. Most Modeling agencies back then Only wanted B&W shots for some reason. That stuff is challenging both shooting and developing it. I thought it was harder than doing Slides, and they were hard. Print film was Really hard to screw up, it had a Ton of Latitude. When I first started out in Photography, back in the time of Jesus lol, I Only used print film and I thought hell, what is the big deal? I am either a natural Wiz at this, or it is over rated as hell. Boy was I wrong! ?
