  1. Well the trouble is they are using toy Mirrorless bodies to try and do the same thing dedicated Cine cameras do that weigh 5 times as much, and have Positive Lock lens mounts on them. It really is never going to work as well, not counting like you say, especially the original Sony a7 series cameras had a hell of a week mount on them. I had to switch my A7r to an aftermarket stainless steel mount to use my longer lenses for birding. It was scary on the original mount. The whole thing was a Disaster trying to use a small body, with really long lenses, on a 36mp sensor. Good luck ever getting a sharp picture when moving the camera around on a Photo Gimbal. I am a pretty big fan of Mirrorless cameras, but they are not worth a flying shit for a lot of applications. They just are too light and too fragile. If it involves movement look elsewhere. Buying a toy camera and having to put it in a Frankenstein rig is sort of just crazy. Buy a Cine camera. Even to me as good as they are, the Z E2 is just too damn small. You would have to hang an Anvil off of it to really use it. Now if you are a Drone guy, well that works I guess. But that stuff gets old quick.
  2. Well with this rig you have pretty much everything you need in a camera recorder except 60p or better 4K. If you Need the good middle Codec on the C300, and I am sure you probably do, I see it as a not brainer unless you Need the 4K 60p for Slo Mo which the C200 offers. The Canon Raw it offers is a plus also if you are into ultimate quality. If only Canon would have done the middle Codec thing it would have been pretty cut and dry. But I can see why they didin't, the C300 would have been dead in the water. But they would have sold a hell of a lot more C200's if they did. I would rather sell a Ton of 7 grand cameras as a few 10 Grand cameras. And they just have lowered it to that. Goofy company as of late. https://www.convergent-design.com/canon-eos-c300
  3. Trouble is I Only have a 2K 30" display. SO to be honest it really doesn't look any better to me than my 2.7k GoPro footage. I can obliviously see the smoothness of it, so the info is there. I just can't see it in it's glory. My trouble is when you get older if you buy a 4K or higher Monitor you can't read the damn print. Piss Ant sized print even scaled up is still small as heck. It is a problem that would cost more money than I can throw at it is probably to have 2, maybe 3 Monitors utilizing different aspects of it. Years ago I had a monitor just for text and the other just for graphics.
  4. There is no one formula for a successful YouTube channel. There are thousands of different kinds on there, and an amazing amount I can't stand to watch for 5 seconds have a shitpot of followers. Casey Neistat would not exist if he listened to the above Rules. Watch what you like and be happy. Ignore what you think is silly, maybe not silly to some people that are 16 years old. Those rules sound like it was written by some old Turd like me. It is a whole new world. Old rules no longer apply, good or bad. YouTube attracts people from all age groups, and all kind of people, good or evil. I think the main draw to YouTube is there is really Not any rules other than the big Moral no no's. I sort of like it the way it is. It doesn't take anyone 10 seconds into a video to see if you can connect with that person or you will Never look at another one they do. It is not Rocket Science to figure it out. But yeah, super loud music in the beginning REALLY pisses me off lol. But some people Must like it or their Channel would be belly up. The take away is the Rule is there IS no rules like the old saying says. Different strokes for Different folks. YouTube is Not going away. I think it is amazing what you can learn on there, or get help to fix a problem you have. Interesting stuff for sure. It is hands down the most entertaining site on the Planet.
  5. You are not going to make @Mattias Burling happy saying that lol.
  6. Jesus you make 1080p sound dirty lol. Who Really needs 4k as of now? Are you doing shit for Netflix?
  7. Looks like you are set for life now. Good job.
  8. Sounds like you are a prime candidate for a Diana Camera lol. Probably Andrew and Mercer both have one knowing them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diana_(camera)
  9. Hell I am retired on a fixed income and I don't find something I Need to carry all the time that expensive. Main reason I have a iPhone is Facetime with my kids, grandchildren and to use my Apple Watch. Sure the watch is expensive but I don't have to worry about being killed trying to pull my phone out driving. And I am old school, used to having a watch on my wrist all the time. How much money do most people on here have tied up in cameras and lenses they hardly ever use on a daily basis. I got tied up in having a bunch of lenses I never used just to say I had one. Crazy shit in the long run. Most, including me would be lucky to use that stuff once a week. Hardly a bargain for what a person has tied up in it. Does it have better output, ehh on some stuff I am not sure anymore. I find setting up all the crap you have to do to use a great camera is more of a pain in the ass than it is worth it most of the time. And like I have said, at my age I just can't even use Any of that stuff around kids in public. So what the hell good is it? Maybe overseas you can do that but you sure as hell in America at any age, going to be shooting kids and get away with it without some parent getting in your face. With a Phone you can get by with it in public a heck of a lot more than not.
  10. The first one is the wrong picture lol. I can't delete it. It is like it but not blurry. I guess a lot of people liked my Hula Dancer! This picture came in second. Taken on my iPhone. Well I have the 512 GB version of my iPhone. I have no storage problems. And Apple sells a pretty nice battery case for iPhones that is not really that big.
  11. Nobody is Just going to go buy a iPhone for Photos. Hey it works as a phone also. I think you can even Text on one. ☺️ What I took from this more than anything is what I have said on here all along. Piss on good or even better equipment. Just get Damn good at Editing, Grading. Doesn't cost a freaking dime to do that, and your media, whether Photo or Video footage will look 5 times better than 99% of the people in the world even if they have a Arri or a Leica. It is that simple. That guy in the video is a Wiz at Photoshop. He can, and probably does make money out the ass on his Photos, and he is just using something he has in his pocket all the time. Basically a free camera and lens setup, easy to carry. I don't think the latest and greatest Smartphones are that much money to be honest. I buy a brand new model every year. In that time frame I have paid off half of it so it cost me say 40 to 50 bucks a month, granted forever, to have the latest and greatest iPhone. New phones now are making Amazing gains every new model. New Smartphones make camera tech look like Stone Age shit. And I don't buy the "but better and more equiped cameras have their time and place" statement either. On my way to Florida I had my Nikon D2Xs and y 80-400mm, 150-500mm, 18-105mm lens and my iPhone XS. The Only time I used the Nikon, which I did, was when I was staying someplace for a reasonable amount of time. I was not going to drag it out of the bag, maybe switch lenses, hell maybe even set it up on a tripod unless I was out for some damn serious shooting. I probably took 100 shots with it on the way down. I took probably 500 shots with the iPhone. Some are wonky, not level, my finger in the way of the lens, but guess what, unless I print the ones from the Nikon or walk around with a laptop it was a Hell of a lot easier to show people the pictures I took on my iPhone on the phone. I could even pass it around. And I took some of the same shots side by side and other than having the ability to zoom out like hell with a telephoto lens I preferred the iPhone shots more to be honest. Sure for Birding I am not going to be able to use the iPhone, but that would be 5% of what I ever shoot. I think MY definition of what is a better shot is even having the F ing shot at all. I sure as hell am not walking around with a D2Xs and a Sigma 150-500mm lens all day. Not counting I would not even be Allowed to shoot a lot of stuff in public or private using it, especially at my age, the Dirty old Man syndrome. So it is what it is. Any shot is better than No shot. Of all the pictures I took, this one, which was a total mistake was hands down most peoples favorite. And it was shot on my iPhone by accident picking it up to Try to shoot a Beach scene. Everyone really liked the detail and colors. The fact that it probably represented what the inside of my truck really looked like in real life. Is it a good picture, hell no in reality, but lots of people paused at it, and commented more on it than any other I took. Go figure.
  12. It's a 100 dollar lens for Christ Sakes. Saw off the back of it and be happy. Nobody is going to use it in a Enlarger again. Sell it if you don't like it for 3 times the money you paid for it on ebay because it is a Professional Modded lens. ?
  13. Pretty interesting video about the newer iPhones, and Smartphones in general. They may actually be better, and in a lot of situations they are better than a high end camera. And not mentioned, video in them also applies a lot of the same mindset. Is the hassle worth it for what small gain at times you achieve over just pure convenience, and arguably a Whole lot more advanced tool to use on paper.
  14. Max doing his thing.

  16. Yeah moving off of base ISO on a Cine camera is not really a good thing in the long run. They are expected to have you either use a ND filter or add lighting, or at times both. And yeah fill, spot lighting in daylight is sort of requiring you to hire a truck to haul in that kind of lighting equipment, and a pretty good Visa card to pay the electric bill lol.
  17. Hell we will all be dead by the time it ships so what is the big deal. ?
  18. Sure at the time it was not too bad. But I would not call a camera that has a top ISO of 1600 a low light beast. About anything is better than a Red, even now, for low light. Figuring ISO 800 was the base ISO that didn't leave a lot of options.
  19. I thought the same thing! I thought Glenn won the Lotto or something.@mercer
  20. Well you can buy the SL2 with the kit lens for 600 Dollars, so I would call it low end along with the M50. I would rather have a M50 to be honest. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1346763-REG/canon_eos_rebel_sl2_dslr.html
  21. Some MOS definitions. https://www.movie-slate.com:1443/FAQs/10261/
  22. Mercer sent me this video a couple of days ago. Yeah I know it is not a Red. It was shot on a OG BMPCC with a 28mm Super-Takumar and a cheap Tamron 10-200, and he says it was shot in ProRes LT.. Sure they used a Speedbooster and lighting, but we all know a Pocket sucked at low light, but they pulled this off big time to me. So it is not the so much what camera, although I still think the Pocket is one of the best Cine cameras ever made, it is about skill, using the right tools, and not having 50,000 dollars of equipment with no clue how to utilize them and expecting miracles.. This trailer makes me want to go out and buy a OG Pocket again lol. It doesn't get much better, especially for what they cost.
  23. That is why if you want to go Pro you better go BIG time Pro mode. When you are in business, I don't care what it is you have to make a Ton of money to make it worth the effort. Hiring an Accountant here is almost a must because you have to pay out every month for Workman's Comp, Social Security, Insurance, any kind of benefits like healthcare, pensions, profit sharing, on and on. So you can't do that alone. That adds up to an amazing amount of money if you have employees. Add wages, and city, state and federal taxes, and rent or a mortgage on a building and add equipment, insurance for all of it in the mix and you had better be pulling in some serious money. Most people are WAY better off just Moonlighting and keeping their day job. Here you don't get any credits for Social Security when you are self employed for the years you are. That can bite you in the ass when you retire big time. And the trouble is it takes more luck than anything, right place right time, to even luck into a really good successful business over the long haul. I have had 3 pretty big time businesses in my life and it was an amazing amount of time and hard work, and overall I am not too sure it would not have been easier to just had worked for someone else. Let them fall over dead worrying about it lol. The problem is it all takes Way too much time away form your family to be in business for yourself when you look back at it. And you can Never get that time back, never. That is my biggest regret looking back. I think most people, me included, just make their life Way too complicated. Less is more in the long run. Fun and happiness is a rare gift for most, and it is really what we should strive for. But we seem to just keep running in the Rat Race. Pretty crazy way to live a life for all involved. Maybe we all need to just go buy a Canon EOS M with ML in it and be happy..
