I have never said they are not a good, well maybe even great camera. It is that I am not into their more modern look, putting up with all the hassle with batteries, SSD's, etc I would rather have a GH5s that looks pretty much like the same output that works right out of the box. Now I have to admit that the new bRaw has a better, older style look to it, But I really don't want a camera like that that I have to have a Frankenstein rig for it. I might as well just buy a canon C100 and be done with it. I am like Mercer, I really don't Need 4K. Anything I shoot is just for the fun of it, not some magical pinnacle I have to reach. I am glad you are happy with it, but I am still not going to buy one.

Really interesting video by Wolfcrow about the Arri Alexa LF. It's long, but good info about the high end of filming and how, according to him, FF Cine cameras have been a flop. Also some Nikon Z stuff at the end of it. The output of the Arri LF is to kill for. https://wolfcrow.com/arri-alexa-lf-review-vs-red-monstro-vs-nikon-z6/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weeklynewsletter&utm_content=text

Canon's own website calls it a s35mm camera?? Do they have 2 versions of it?? "Overview The next generation EOS C700 Digital Cinema Camera is the camera that so many cinematographers having been asking for from Canon and incorporates what Canon has learned through professional feedback over the last five years since the original Cinema EOS C300 was announced. Canon's new EOS C700 Super35 format camera is designed to be a flexible "A" camera for various types of shooting scenarios. The EOS C700 features both internal 4K ProRes and XF-AVC recording." https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/cameras/cinema-eos/eos-c700

Buy a GH5 and put a speedbooster on it. Problem solved and for 1500 bucks to boot.

It's Canon, what you think will happen lol.

Well even the old lens are better than you think. ENG cameras have 3, 2/3 sensors which end up to be bigger than a m4/3 sensor combined. So they are really able to do nearly 4K on the newer style ones, and I am talking 20 year ago lenses. So don't write them off even though they are old. We are talking Broadcast stuff here. Pure color 4.4.4.. $10.000 Dollar lenses and more 20 years ago price wise. No breathing, and Parafocal lenses. The best you could buy hands down. The new ones are 4K rated but that is more marketing BS than reality. Sure the newer the better but.

Well the biggest problem I have encountered with B4 lenses is they are so damn long zoom wise. It is pretty hard even on a tripod to use them extended which is tempting to be honest. With the crop factor they are super long millimeter wise on paper. Like nearly 1000mm on a m4/3 camera! ETC you are taking 2000mm! You really can't use a 2000mm lens to be honest. Even 900mm is pushing it. Atmospheric pollution, let alone camera shake is deadly at that length. I have tried to shoot birds at 1000mm and even just shallow beating is a disaster! 750mm seems to be my limit. YMMV

Hell I am blocked on the Sony Forum on DPR and I am a Sony fan LoL. DPR is a TOTAL waste of time. Totally irrelevant. Just a bunch of pissed off stupid people on there. 90% of them don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. But when I was 17 I probably didn't either.

I thought the C700 had a s35 sensor, not FF?
-
I would think most all of them are. But they really only will cover a m4/3 sensor if they are a 2/3 lens and have a 2x doubler. A few, very few will cover close to s35.

Oh I am serious. I have lived long enough to have owned about every brand there is, and lived long enough to have seen the rise and fall of a lot of camera company’s. Canon was nothing too special back in the early days. Only at the end of their Rangefinder cameras did people around the World take them serious. Then when the the T-70, T-90 came out it really proved they were a serious player. Back then and up to it seems the 5D mk 1 they seemed to push as hard as They could to make the best cameras in the wold, but for some reason, may be their.Cine Line? they have pretty much pushing half assed shit out the dorm and I think they are even laughing about all the dumb bastards LoL that are still buying the crap. I just bought an old Nikon DSLR, mainly because I am not going to give Canon. any more of My money. I think they Need to just go out of business to be honest. I find it disgraceful what they are doing.

You sound jelious of Sony. Canon is back in 2008. Nikon is kicking their ass. Fuji is biting the other butt cheek. Canon and is going to be Casio down the road if they don,t wake up. Casio was king shit also back in the day. So was HP and Kodak. Everybody bites the dust, man or company I don,t give a crap who you are.

I had the Moon Dog Anamorphic and now I have the Moment Anamorphic. I think the Moon Dog wins hands down on the stabilization part is better on the case or a aftermarket thing. But the 37mm is pretty huge to have to deal with also, I think the Moon Dog is a better overall Anamorphic lens but the normal Moment lenses are very hard to beat. And they are on average pretty small to deal with. And you can leave the Moment case on all the time. You are not doing that with the Moon Dog case and the clip on thing, which I have, is not a good option at all. If you are going for more of a Pro look output wise go with the Moon Dog, if you are just doing this for fun, family stuff go the Moment route. The Moon Dog stuff is a hassle trust me. Big and clunky equipment to do it. You can put the Moment stuff in your pocket. But both are pretty amazingly good for Anamorphic stuff. Done well it can be Pro looking output wise. They are not just toys. They hold up pretty damn good to the big boy stuff. Cheap trills and a darn good way to get into Anamorphic on the cheap. Phones are getting scary better each year now.

Fuji XT3 vs Sony A7iii vs Panasonic GH5 vs Nikon Z6
webrunner5 replied to KingsJoy's topic in Cameras
The Panasonic GH5 is pretty much the best all around video camera you can buy. And it is the cheapest way to go both body wise and lens wise. And really it's 20mp sensor is more than enough for photos. Now it might not be the best for AF, but all around I don't see how you can beat it for the money used. And there is lots of f 0.95 lenses around for m4/3, and add a Speedbooster and you are s35 or even larger. A hard to beat all around small, light weight system. And if you want to dabble in Anamorphic they are great for that. -
Charlton Heston was the spokesman for the NRA for years is the reason I think he mentioned him.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
This is his written summary of the Z6. Looks like it will have a crop in 10 bit no matter what you do? https://wolfcrow.com/important-quirks-and-features-of-the-nikon-z6-for-cinematography/ -
A different way to clean a lens.

He won't even review a camera unless it has 4.2.2 in it. Yeah he does more serious work so that is required for it. He is pretty honest and doesn't feel bad about knocking missing features. There really is no reason not to have all that stuff in it in this day and age. It is mostly software based. It is not like it is a 600 dollar camera. And it is their video based model for heaven sake's. -
Doesn't look like it is going to be released in the United States? https://bgr.com/2019/03/19/huawei-p30-pro-vs-galaxy-s10-plus-price-leaked-ahead-of-launch/

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Did you even watch the video why he said you needed it? It was not so much about 10 bit, it was more about the lack of video shooting aides the camera Doesn't have in it. The biggest flaw is there is no exposure aide in video. You are basically shooting blind. And yeah sure the 10 bit and Raw is mostly the main reason you are going to buy it, but I will cut them slack as it is their first try at a big time FF Mirrorless. Some of the problems might be able to be fixed with a firmware update. -

Wolfcrow Z6 review. Seems to like it, but says you NEED to have an external recorder to use it for serious video work. https://wolfcrow.com/nikon-z6-real-world-review-for-cinematography/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weeklynewsletter&utm_content=text
